Waterlily Dreams, the first of my Summer Garden Mini Collection. Beautiful yarn inspired by the colours of a summer garden, capturing the vibrant essence of blooming flowers and lush greenery. Soft strands dyed in speckles of radiant floral hues. This collection evokes warmth and joy, reminiscent of sunny afternoons and gentle breezes. Its rich, natural palette invites creativity and each skein tells a story of nature’s quiet splendour.

JOMP BPC - 5th August - Paperbacks
Probably more than 90% of my books are paperbacks. I tend to find hardbacks heavy and cumbersome so there needs to be a particular reason for me to choose the hardback edition over the paperback - and I almost always wait for the paperback edition to come out before I buy a book

Urban Women presents a different and lesser-known image of the late Middle Ages, from 1250 to 1550. The authors trace the lives of women protesting, marrying, making love, working, and engaging in the daily life of Low Countries towns. In doing so, this book gives voice to wealthy businesswomen, laborers, religious women, criminals, and sex workers, spotlighting the remarkable figures who shaped a "women's town" within a man's world.

As the title suggests, this book does indeed cover all four seasons, including summer! Also, it's an easy, enjoyable read.

I need to admit something to the US Tumblrinas. Philadelphia isn't a place to me. It's a cream cheese. You say "philadelphia" or "philly" and I immediately, and exclusively, think of the cream cheese. "Twelve people die in Philadelphia disaster" wow that must've been a Molasses Flood style event

JOMP BPC - 1st August - August Goals
My plan is to read two physical books and two audiobooks this month. I've chosen the physical books because they're both from my tbr shelf, they both look really good, and they're both short! An irl friend is also going to read The Penelopiad and we'll have a little two-woman book group discussion when we're done.
I've just started When the Angels Left the Old Country and so far I'm loving it. I've read Moon Over Soho before, but it's Mr Hag's favourite of the Rivers of London series so we're going to listen to it together again.

Well, it's the first of the month so I get to pick a creative project to work on in August - and I've picked Professor Hare. He's a little stargazing hare made of felt. I started him over a year ago and got as far as cutting out all the pieces and doing the very simple embroidery on one side of his body (which looks more like a seal than a hare at the moment!) Anyway, I need to do the rest of the embroidery, sew all the pieces together, and put the stuffing in. That seems doable in a month, surely?! I'll report back at the end of the month.
Tumblr media
I have lots of creative projects I've either started and not finished or haven't even made a start on. They're things I want to do, I think I'll enjoy doing them once I get going, and I'm sure I'll get a sense of satisfaction when they are done - and yet they're still lying around the house in bags and boxes, neglected and lonely!
So I've made myself a kind of project bingo card, thus:
Tumblr media
My intention is that each month I'll complete one project and once it's done I'll decorate its square on the bingo card and post a picture of the completed project here. Obviously, health and/or other life nonsense might derail this fine plan, but let's be optimistic: on the 1st of each month I'll choose a project and on the last day of each month I'll report back. If the plan turns out to be too demanding then I'll modify it to be more realistic and as enjoyable as possible - we'll just see how it goes.
Please do feel free to encourage/pointedly enquire how it's all going every now and again - it'll help keep me on track :-)
Also, if you're in a similar position with projects you want to work on and you think it'd help to set up something similar, feel free to reblog or comment and add your own plans - I'm very happy to be project buddies!
