hi internet,

two things i have not done in a very long time:  -had an active tumblr account -wrote about things and blogged

i have not had a tumblr since i was about 17-22 years old. i had a “following” and was obsessed with just gaining followers, just like so many of us. i didn’t use this platform for my own growth, documentation, and pleasure. i mean sometimes i did, but it wasn’t my main focus. 

so here it goes, i am starting a blog dedicated to my idol- taylor swift. and i don’t give a single f*ck that i’m nearing 30. 

my name is jordan, here are some basics:

i have grown up with taylor and feel very lucky to be only roughly over a year away from her age. fans that are in my same age range probably feel the same way i do. it’s amazing to have been in high school, then college, then adulthood experiencing that feeling of relating to a songwriter while at the same general point on the timeline that is their life. i was listening to “stay beautiful” on repeat when i had my first serious high school crush (”hey stephen” also leaked into that same timeline as she released Fearless). my best friend and i’s ~*songs*~ are “i’m only me when i’m with you” and “long live.” i have vivid memories about talking to her about our favorite tracks when each album would be released. the song “treacherous” got me through feelings of doubt in my what was current 3+ year relationship and helped me weather the storm of realizing i was having feelings for someone other than the person i was planning my life with. she helped me realize that that relationship wasn’t supposed to be forever, and i’m thankful for that. i remember thinking “wow she did THAT” when 1989 released. i remember the way that the song “clean” changed for me when my cousin passed away. now it’s his song. and yet over all of these years, i still had not gotten to see taylor in concert. 

onto her hiatus and the sudden purge of the entirety of taylor’s instagram replaced with just some... snakes? oh my god i was living for this era. my best friend and i shared a verified fan account and participated in the points activities every single day. i would be in my cubicle at work, replaying those videos over and over and over. then it came time to buy tickets to my first taylor swift concert. we earned the first tier of ticket choice and we flipped out. i remember that day. of course the system was overloaded with sh*t tons of fans trying to get their tickets and it took several tries to actually purchase them. we finally got our tickets and it was floor seating. we were near the back of the floor section, directly front facing the left side of the stage diagonally. (that probably makes no sense, i can’t explain it) i have social anxiety and these tickets that we got happened to be at the very end of a row near the aisle. this is so important to me. it was so perfect! and of course, the concert was unimaginably perfect. taylor chose to play “tied together with a smile” at our stop for her new found rep tour tradition, and i couldn’t believe it. that was one of the first songs to help me (TW/CW) with my eating disorder and the feelings that revolved around that. it was a very cathartic moment in my life. that moment is what is captured in the image that i have of this first blog post. i took this photo as tears streamed down my face, trying to figure out how the universe all lined up so perfectly that day for me.

lover era was a beautiful one. i have so many favorite tracks on that album as well. i felt like i was so involved in the picking apart of her posts and easter eggs because i found a group on facebook that combines peoples’ love of taylor swift with their love of true crime, my safe space, happiest corner of the internet. we have a little community there and i felt even more close to taylor and even her fellow fans through this era. the holes in the fence, the palm trees, finding all of the clues in the “ME!” video. i know that some fans are sad that the lover era was cut short. i can’t say i don’t get it, but 2020 is a very dark time for so many of us. i’m so grateful that taylor didn’t follow the typical “rules” of the music industry / releasing albums and

gave us the treasure that is folklore. speak now had been my favorite taylor album. but then, folklore existed. i’m absolutely floored by her work on folklore. you can hear the maturity in “epiphany” and “illicit affairs”. you can hear the pain from the betrayal she has experienced in the past in “my tears ricochet” and “hoax”. you can hear the happiness with where she is at now in “invisible string”. i also think that “this is me trying” is the “the archer” of folklore. i think that folklore is the track 5 of all of her albums. 

i’ll be continuing to share my own content from my reputation tour experience on this blog. but i’ll also be using this blog for fun as a fan, and sharing her own content as well as my own edits of photos of taylor. i’ll also be writing about my experiences with certain songs, albums, etc. i also make a lot of lists, they help my anxiety. i’ll be sharing those from my journals. i personally find it fascinating to see others’ rankings of albums, songs, etc. basically this is going to be a virtual journal about my favorite artist of all time.
