Hi! I’m doing a pretty expensive certification program this summer and I’ll be without income for 6 weeks as a result, so I’m hoping to sell off some old Ereri doujin that I’m not that into any more. I’m asking for $30 each (these are all anthologies and quite long), which will include shipping within the US. I know that’s not the cheapest, but I’m in a pretty tough situation right now. Message me if you’re interested in anything and we can talk!  I’ve also got some one-shots that I’ll be selling for cheaper and some small goods/posters that I’ll be throwing in as extras, so let me know if you want to have a look at those and I’ll see what I can do!

Hey, friends! Now that the Mass Exodus is imminent, follow me on twitter under the same username if you wanna keep in touch! Haven’t been on tumblr in a minute anyway, so twitter’s probably the better place for that regardless.

i feel that venom is the consistency of oobleck - if you hit him hard enough, it’s going to be solid, but if you just kind of rest your hand on him, your fingers eventually seep through like it’s some kind of slow liquid, and if you don’t know what i’m talking about, check this video

My brothers ALWAYS call me sis or sissy, I only ever call them by their names tho
Does anyone genuinely call their siblings sis, sister, little/big sis, bro, brother, little/big brother etc. as constantly as this appears to be portrayed in media? I’m extremely sceptical. Now, affectionally addressing them by something like “slug”, “toad”, “fool”, and “bitch”, or even dare I say it, their gotdamn name, is, from my experience, so much more natural.

FULL DEVILMAN CRYBABY THOUGHTS, POTENTIAL SPOILERS AND A BIT OF PRETENTIOUS RAMBLING:
Devilman Crybaby doesn’t follow the current trends of the anime industry. It’s crude, it’s violent, places a lot of focus on philosophy, and makes people think about the concepts of good and evil.
And that’s what it needed to be.
The show sets the viewer up for something they may take a bit to get in on. The art goes from downright beautiful to ugly in seconds, and right away you get exposed to violence and sex in extreme measures. But what you also get is a reminder of what reality is. That the real world doesn’t have any filters to protect those who might be sensitive to it. That this is the world that these characters live in, for better or for worse.
There are moments of genuine humor. Of innocence. Some of those moments have already taken the form of quickly spreading memes, particularly the hilarious run cycle of those who have become possessed by demons that makes it really hard to take things seriously. There are moments where you feel you can be comfy and enjoy the calm.
Then the proverbial shit hits the fan. Lives are lost. Families are torn apart. Eventually the world itself falls into complete and total chaos, as humanity tries to purify itself through any means necessary. Even turning on friends and family, and celebrating in a way that is reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials.
It is at this point that the show takes on a much more serious tone. The core concept that is presented here is that humans should not be so quick to fight each other, that we should be accepting of each other. When Akira himself comes down in front of a crowd of humans and begs them to show sympathy, there is genuine remorse in his voice for the sorry state that things have turned to.
And Akira cries. He cries a lot. He cries for others. He cries for the smallest reasons. In this case, the show also says that it’s okay to cry. To have feelings. Being a giant demon that can tear others to shreds does not mean that one can be without sympathy. And this sympathy is what allows him to retain control as a human.
Religion is another theme that gets a lot of play. One family in particular is very proud of their Christian faith. They read the bible regularly, attend church, and feel their faith in God overcomes all. But then reality once again comes in to pay a visit. When the world starts going to all hell, faith doesn’t save them in the end. People spout scripture, only to be torn apart by their common man. Insanity takes over completely. It’s not until the very end when God himself finally intervenes, after everything has gone to ruin, hitting the almighty reset button with as much force as possible.
Devilman Crybaby does not have a happy ending. There are no moral victories to be had. There are no feel good moments. The moments of genuine hype are brief. The closing scenes are dark, depressing, and serve as a sign of warning in a time where nuclear war seems like an inevitability.
But holy hell is it a damn good ride through and through.
