Another scorcher for #Aberdeen anyway!! Lovely day for being out creating #positive change, within the #community. @freshcommunitywellness some of the 'young team', getting their own vests thanks to Kristina. Incredible efforts made by local residents #Seaton #Linksfield #Pittodrie, along with guests & volunteers from throughout #Aberdeenshire. Our age range attending is from 3 years to over 70. Fresh is open to anyone, a community group, run by unpaid volunteers. #unitingcommunities In a few hours, as well as todays WalkIn2Activity session (they can include tidying, gardening, litter, painting etc), I had spoken to over 30 individuals. General hellos and chats. Some about mental health and social isolation, a few about recovery from substance dependencies. A large amount currently living chaotic lifestyles, many with very poor mental health/severe addictions, extreme poverty, some verging at crisis point. It's humbling speaking to such a wide variety of people, many seek us out for a chat. Every chat I enjoy, offering safe choices and options should they wish to pursue them. Learning about different backgrounds, beliefs, and options. A lot of smiles. Fantastic session. Kids please take care. Very important lesson I have learned today. When there have been several days of reports of floods and thunderstorms, this is a sign that it may rain. Don't be like me and wear t shirt & shorts and no underwear. Although it's very handy to chuck in the machine and get changed afterwards. You sure get some strange looks in the supermarket when grabbing some #vegan essentials!! Lol!! What an incredible group yesterday 14/15 people, half kids half adults. Wide range of ages and backgrounds all uniting together to help improve the #community fantastic. As well as improve their own wellness, as well as their friends & families, and those most at need. During our activities we can offer support and initial befriending to assist anyone and ensure we remain fully inclusive to anyone looking to attend, our group is YOUR group. @freshcommunitywellness is a community group open to anyone who wants to attend, no barriers, no judgements, open to all. Volunteer run with guests and volunteers from all over #Aberdeen as well as local residents from #Seaton #pittodrie #linksfield brilliant indeed Lots of dangerous items including 3 needles, drugs paraphernalia, glass, used condom's and over 7 bags of rubbish collected. Incredible session Saturday. One of #seaton local businesses will lead the way by sponsoring a bench! Then we have the local Sikh temple hopefully doing one of the corners the empty green spaces. @freshcommunitywellness intend on doing all the corners including seating areas, kids areas, mature areas, wildflowers, and also an allotment.
