I'ms so furious right now. The most popular post right now in the voltron tag is an edit, someone took Shiro out of the scene in "Blade of Marmora" when he helps Keith stand up, with Lance. I mean, its a great edit, but the hypocrisy is so fucking real. This comes from the same Klance fans that deny that all the scenes between Sheith are romantics, but no, they put Lance in it and suddenly is all SO CANON, OMG, jesus, I don't even like Sheith that much, but that is just so fucking disrespectful

I saw it this morning :( and it made me really mad on behalf of sheith fans as well. It’s like they can’t make klance content without taking parts of sheith and shance, I saw someone say “give love a klance” once and ??? Why. That’s our content, we’re starving for content and ??

So i came across a post and i gotta say, bad post op. Now, I realize that you are 14 years old, a literal child, so it makes sense as to why it’s hard for you properly understand the characters and how deep they all are and why you have such a one dimensional mindset when it comes to these characters. So I’m gonna help you out, alright? I’m gonna show you how these characters are much more than these one dimensional things you and many others in this fandom make them out to be.

Oh and just a note: I’m not even going to be really getting into ships that much. There will be little things here and there, but ships are not the point of this post.

Let’s start from the top, hm? Lance. Now, Lance is a character that I have not always loved if I am honest. In the beginning when I was watching I found him sort of annoying and didn’t really understand him. But as I continued to watch the show, and find out more about him, I fell in love with him mostly because I can relate to him. I have a lot of insecurities, much like Lance, and I try to hide that from everyone because I don’t want anyone to worry about me. I hide behind a tough exterior so as to protect myself, much like Lance does. It isn’t even until the Beta Traz episode in s2 that anyone has any idea about Lance’s insecurities. He thinks he’s nothing but a seventh wheel, and who hears that, but Shiro, which is why he calls Lance Sharpshooter towards the end of the episode. Shiro is probably the only one, aside from possibly Coran, who knows about Lance’s insecurities and Shiro can’t really do anything about that right now because he’s MIA.

The fandom seems to treat Lance like he’s some Chosen One or something. Almost every post I see about him nowadays make me roll my eyes because the fandom sees him as this perfect being who doesn’t have anything bad going on, he’s just perfect. But this is not the case. Lance is very insecure about his abilities. To those of you who are willing to fight for Black Paladin Lance: you are going to lose that fight At this current moment, Lance is nowhere near capable of being the leader of Voltron. I love the boy to death, but he isn’t ready for that responsibility, not with how much he questions his own value to the team. Because of how people treat Lance, most Lance stans are very hostile against any bad word towards him. And the way to be a proper fan is to see that no character is perfect and that you have to be willing to see that your fave is not just this one dimension. And for Lance that dimension is the meme-y guy who is very horny. And just. No. Lance is so much more complex than that.

Next on the list is Pidge ( gonna be using she/her pronouns for Pidge ). Pidge is incredibly smart is able to figure out Altean technology so easily and is the first to pick up the language. She wants to learn more about this because she knows that she’s going to be with them until she find her brother and father. She isn’t going to give up until she finds them, so that means learning more about Altea and its culture. She is incredibly smart is able to invent various things and even add various enhancements to the pod and the Green Lion. The fandom treats her like a gremlin, which I both understand and don’t at the same time. She is the youngest of the paladin, and is willing to do the most to get her family back. That’s all she wants. She just wants Matt and Sam to be safe and sound and back home.

Allura is third on your list, so she’ll be third on mine as well. Allura can be very kind, but she can also be a straight up bitch. She literally dropped Keith’s friendship and trust the moment she found out he was Galra. She knew Keith way before she found out that he was Galra. And in all honesty, her doing this added character to her. The fandom wants to treat her like this perfect princess who never does anything wrong. But there are quite a few continuity flaws when it comes to her character. She states that Alteans are peaceful, and yet who was it that built Voltron? Alfor, an Altean. In s1ep2, the team must go against the Gladiator, and the level is set for an aAtean child, and it still kicked everyone’s asses. I’m sorry, but why is your gladiator bot, that is set for a child, so intense. That should set off some red flags. The first thing Allura does when we meet her is take Lance’s ear and put him in a hold to make sure he can’t harm her. She was trained to do that. Allura is a good character, but she isn’t saying everything that should be said by now. She is hostile. There is no way around this. She had no reason not to trust Keith, and yet she spent the part of a season not doing so. And to those nasty Allura stans who claim ‘racism’ because people don’t ship shallura or kallura: please stop. Everyone has different HCs, and its shitty to attack people who may not ship Allura with Shiro or Keith because maybe they see her as a lesbian, or they maybe they ship her with someone else. Just stop attacking people for their HCs. Please.

Next up is Hunk. Alrighty. Hunk is a really good and wholesome character who no one in the fandom seems to understand. Hunk is fat. That is canon. Hunk also likes food. That is also canon. Hunk says, in canon, that cooking/baking helps him relax. So why are people so up in arms saying that all Hunk is, is the fat joke? Like. Are you watching the same show? Hunk is able to create scaltrite ( I have no idea how to spell that lmao ) minerals when he makes the cookies and is able to help the team. He built the machine that they used in order to find the Blue Lion. Hunk is incredibly smart and resourceful, and is also the Bitter FriendTM. When something happens, he starts being petty under his breath and its so great to see that he’s not just the soft, innocent big boy that the fandom makes him out to be. Hunk can be petty as all hell and I love it. He even jokes with Keith about the Galra stuff in the Weblum episode. Hunk is a good character who is so much deeper than Soft BoyTM.

CORAN. IS NOT. A MEME. Sorry for the caps, but I just. I am so tired of seeing this is fics and fanart. Coran is super smart, he was able to help the Olkari make the teleporter thing for the final battle with Zarkon, as well as he has such an in depth knowledge about the Castle of Lions and its history. It makes sense seeing as his grandfather built the castle. Coran is insanely smart and knowledgeable, and just because he says some things that may seem funny, does not mean he’s a meme. Thank you.

Keith is my boy. I love him. He’s a very complex character. But somehow all the fandom sees him as the angry emo boy who gets treated like a joke. There are countless posts about how Keith won’t be a good leader, and that he’s just going to get the team killed. I don’t have the energy to get into why you’re wrong, especially when my pal Sunny is currently writing a huge meta about Keith during the Trials of the Marmora, and my friend Alice is writing a huge meta about Black Paladin Keith. They will cover what needs to be said on that front so I’ll just try and pick up the rest of the pieces.

The fandom seems to treat Keith like he’s just some joke. Yes, he’s Texan. We get it. The jokes aren’t funny anymore. He is more than that. He is actually very compassionate, despite him putting up a bunch of walls to keep his heart safe. Keith cares very deeply about the paladins and their safety and wants to do whatever he can to get the mission taken care of and done with. And yet, the fandom treats him like he’s just an accessory for Lance. And it’s quite aggravating to see that all Keith is to the fandom is just some angry emo who’s only purpose is to make Lance feel good about himself. And I am so very tired of this trope. Let it die.

I’m not going to get into the Blade of Marmora members or any of the other characters, mostly because I don’t study them that well and I don’t really see a lot of shit being thrown their way. Those of you all that enjoy those characters, keep being good. Ulaz, Thace and Antok will want you to be good.

Last on this list, however, is Shiro. Now, Shiro is my favorite character on this show, hands down. I love this man more than anything. And to see you say that people with a Shiro icon are bad and that people should run away from them really rubbed me the wrong way and upset me. Since you are an anti, I am going to assume it is because you, like many other antis within the fandom, seem to hate shiro. Why you hate him is something I have yet to understand. But I’m going to go ahead and tell you why Shiro is an amazing character who should be loved by all.

Shiro is honestly the most relatable character. He’s the tired college student who wants to take a nap for a few years, which is understandable because he has been through so fucking much and he doesn’t even remember it all. He says self deprecating jokes, he in constant internal turmoil. He has gone through so much in such a short amount of time and he deserves a long nap and some hugs. And he just wants the best for his team. He just wants his team to succeed, and he wants Zarkon to stop taking and taking and taking everything in his path. Shiro is very caring and kind and loves the other paladins. All of them. ( the meta about the bullshit favoritism thing is coming soon )
