This comes from my “Ari’s Doppelgänger” WIP. It was supposed to be an interpretation of the “What If” Prompt of the Tiva Challenge but it became a way more articulated story and time was short. I plan on getting back to it as soon as I can, so who knows..? Maybe it’ll hit your screens before the spin off. Or maybe not. Enjoy!

“I received orders to meet with Ari Haswari to record a statement and check on his weapons”, she told them, covering her middle with her arms once again as to protect herself from whatever would come next, “I met with him downtown, Jenny knew all about it…”.

“Of course she did”, Tony could not help himself.

Suddenly, she stopped pacing and looked at them with wide eyes.

“The man I met was not Ari Haswari”, the Israeli told them, “Of that I am certain”.

writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months

Seven Sentences Monday

I was tagged three times by @indestinatus @samwhity @mrsmungus so I guess it's 21 sentences(!!)

From a sunny, summery tiva fic:

If he expected her to be a bee to the fire now, he would be disappointed.  “What exactly are you doing, Tony?” “I’ve got it,” he crowed, near enough to her ear for his breath to feather her neck. Ziva rolled onto her side and braced her weight on an elbow, the distance between their chests shortened by her action, but neither of them adjusted or retreated. It wouldn’t have been their way.  Jutting her chin, she poured her words over his stubbled jaw: “You do not have it.” Forget the bee and the fire. They could both play this game, and she would win.

From an episode tag:

Tony reached for the cold beer she’d brought him, chugging down three mouthfuls at once. Could he blame his body’s (over)reaction on the pulsing atmosphere and the alcohol hitting his blood stream like a virus? Or maybe how she hesitated before purring the word lure was the culprit. “You must really want my attention,” he finally threw out because talking was safer at that moment than anything tangled inside his brain. Her dark eyebrows rose, but her eyes dropped to her mojito. She used the stem of the paper umbrella to stir the ice and mint leaves. “You have been in your thoughts tonight and–” "It's in your head." "-be having fun."

From (oddly enough) a football-inspired wip:

“Yes, though you still owe me a meal.” “Help yourself.” Her nose scrunched at the salty options sitting out in plastic bowls. “Real food, not this junk.” “Take-out menus are in–” “The drawer beside the fridge,” she finished for him, turning on her booted heel. Those super tight jeans were quite a sight from behind, too. “I remember.”  “I’ll get you my credit card.” He flashed a megawatt smile, feeling the knot in his chest loosen as she sauntered through his apartment like she belonged there. Maybe hope for them wasn't lost, after all.

||He’d been pushing his luck, he knew that. From the look on her face and the steam he could all but see puffing from her ears, Ziva was approximately thirty seconds away from either kissing him or shooting him, he really couldn’t tell where she would land.

It was hardly his fault - Ziva had turned up mid-afternoon, her court attire doing a number on the few braincells he was still dedicating to work. As sexy as Ziva was all geared up and ready to wage war, something about her in that dark pencil skirt, long tan legs balanced daintily in little kitten heels sent him into a spiral.

She’d flung her loose curls up into something resembling a bun and he earned a smack to the chest when he dug out some old costume glasses from his messy drawer and asked her to put them on and shake her hair out.

“I am not your plaything,” she had said, eyes meeting his with a dangerous glint as they both remembered just how well she had played that part.

It had only gotten worse from there.

The elevator came to a halt on the right floor, the bell successfully interrupting the Israeli’s train of thoughts. She took a deep breath and looked at her reflection in the mirror once again, before marching towards his door. She looked and felt tired, she could barely stand and driving there had cost her more energy that she cared to admit. Her brain, however, wasn’t allowing her a second of peace, let alone enough calm to let her fall asleep. Images of the past couple of hours were now juxtaposing themselves to memories of the worst day of her life in an endless silent movie where pain and horror were never ending. Where Paula Cassidy had jumped to save them all, she now saw Tali in her flowy dress. Tony’s screams were her sister’s cries.

He knew it shouldn’t bother him, not after everything. Hell, he was used to silence. They’d lasted 5 years without so much as getting CC’d in the same group email. The only problem was now, he wasn’t used to it anymore.  This felt different. This wasn’t the good riddance, no regrets kind of silence from before. This was her, in the thick of something, and him, stuck here, waiting. And caring . That part was new. Or maybe just resurfaced.

Saturday (now Tuesday) snippet

I was tagged by the incredibly talented @hopeless-nostalgiac to share a small snippet of the fic I am working on, so here you go. Attention: it's not finished, let alone edited so you might want to close an eye (or two)...

It hit him all at once: flashbacks of their time in the farmhouse, the night spent watching an old movie in the bullpen, the very first time he saw her. In Cairo he had asked Ziva to come back to him, to come back home, and every birthday since he only wished to see her again, to hold her again, to have her ground him with the solid affection of a love too big to be comprehended.

“Gibbs”, he picked up without bothering to check who was calling him in the first place. “How is she?”, the voice on the other side sounded impossibly tired and way too hesitant for someone who was going to finally be reunited with the mother of his child. “Why don’t you ask her, DiNozzo?”, the former Marine answered, “Phone number is the same…”. The sigh he received as an answer made him immediately stop pacing around the basement: what the hell was wrong with DiNozzo?

He blew out noisily and brushed a crumb off his knee. “Okay. That I can do,” he said, nodding. “This is gonna be all off the cuff, I never thought we'd get here. But then, I never thought we'd get where we did before, either. So, just, don't shut down like in the cafe, okay? Sometimes I don't hear what I'm saying till it's out of my mouth, so if it's stupid, would you gimme a second chance?”  “Fair enough. I will not tolerate anything unreasonable though, just because you have asked for some leeway,” she spoke unequivocally.  Tony shook his head. “No, we already tried unreasonable. Didn't turn out so hot. How about honest, but we don’t fight dirty? Deal?”
