My personal theory about Deciets name

OKAY! So I know there are already a lot of theories and I love them all! Also this post is very long so I will try to put it under read more. But my personal idea was always that a fitting name for Deciet was:

Janus

Now of course I have reasons for that. Janus is rooted in roman mythology. He's one of the few roman gods that don't have a greek counter part. Now it is already pretty common for the sides names to find their origin in ancient rome though they usually have something to do with philosophy like Virgil is also the name of a roman philosopher and Logan and Patton seem to originate from Logos and Pathos (there is also ethos which is why I also like the theory of Ethan being Deciets name). Romans name has a pretty obvious connection to rome and so does remuses if you're familiar with Rome's founding myth. So it would fit in that pattern.

But why Janus? Well his appearance is that of a man with two faces, similar to Deciets logo and his face having to sides but that's not the only reason I think that the name would be fitting. The god Janus stands for the beginning and the end of everything. He is the embodiment of opposites. Not only that but he also proves and makes sure that all gods haven an opposite to balance on their power. Now if we look at Deciet... he is portrayed as the opposite of Patton. Now Patton, embodying his morals and feelings, usually has the most power over Thomas. So it would only make sense that there was something to balance his power out. Deciets always has a big impact on Thomas whenever he shows up and his job so far has been to make Thomas realize that there is more to him than originally thought and that he isn't a purely good person but has other parts that balance him out.

Another part that adds to my theory is that Janus is also portrayed as the keeper of doors and doorways which makes total sense for Deciet since he is the one that kept the door to Thomases dark side shut until Thomas agreed to know about it. Similarly he is the one that let out Remus to once again demonstrate to Thomas that he isn't purely good.

Janus is also the god of transition in the sense of the transision from past to future. Which makes sense because Deciet is what started the transition between fully good Thomas in the past to a Thomas that is learning about his "darker" sides and how to deal with them and will probably continue to do so in the future.

There are also some stories and myths that portray Janus as a riddler. When trying to pass through the door he's protecting one head would tell the truth and one would lie and the travellers job would be to find out which head was which ( I don't think I have to explain).

SO! Even though it's not very likely that I would be correct with this for the time being my head cannon is that Deciets name is Janus! (This post is very long I'm sorry.)

Hey, okay, does anyone remember that post about the abbreviation of Sanders Sides? As in, we use “ts sides” and not… anything… else….? Because I’ve seen the other abbreviation again several times, it made me very uncomfortable, and apparently, a bunch of people don’t realise why it’s an issue to use it… and that post explained it better. I can’t find it though, so let’s be short:

“SS” is the abbreviation for the Schutzstaffel, literally “Protection Squadron”, a military organization under Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP) in Nazi Germany, then in the entirety of occupied Europe, during WWII

Please don’t use it when you’re talking about the Sides, or the vids in general? There had been a huge deal made out of it in the beginning of the fandom (I know, I was there) and the fandom as a whole had settle on “TS Sides” for short. Could we all use it?

I get that not everyone has a big knowledge of the stuffs that happened in Europe, mostly because a bunch of you come from the US, but, as a half german half french person, I react strongly when I see the abbreviation. And I don’t think I’m the only one who’s uncomfortable with it? It’s okay, you didn’t know, let’s just avoid it?
