I'm throwing in my 2 cents on this. I got daith piercings to help with chronic migraines. And my god I walked into the piercing shop with a migraine, and I walked out without one. It was the most insane feeling. However, it only worked until it finished healing. So I wound up with two daith piercings and chronic migraines. So I am going to be honest: I recommend acupressure in place of the daith piercing. It targets the same spot to accomplish the same goal, and you don't wind up with a piercing in the way of an acupressure spot that could relieve that pain.

That being said, I see someone for my right arm because I fuck up the muscles there, he saw I had daith piercings and asked about them (I had an awesome one that he caught a glimpse of and mistook as a hearing aid). He asked if i had ever tried acupressure and dry needling for migraines and gave me a referral to a PT who treats migraines. The PT was magic and worked a knot out of the back on my neck and now my chronic migraines are no longer chronic and I can treat a lot of them with gentle neck massage.

So whaddya know, daith piercings did solve my chronic migraines through a very circuitous route. But I do wish I had been able to skip the cost of the piercing and jewelry and go right to acupressure and physical therapy.

And just because daith piercings and then acupressure and physical therapy worked out for me, does not mean it will work out for anyone else. I am just one data point in a vast array of humanity. What worked for me will not work for other people, I share this because it was my experience and it was beneficial, and could be helpful to others considering daith piercings and acupressure after a neurologist has gone "well have you tried drinking more water" after your MRI results.

Regarding migraines - I don't know if you have tried it, or are even interested in trying it, but a few years ago, I received the Daith piercing in my right ear (the majority of my migraines are on the right side), and the amount of migraines I have dropped by at least half. In addition, the severity has reduced as well. There has been no scientific basis for it, only anecdotal, but it seems to work for quite a few people. I think it also helped that my piercer had studied ear acupuncture, to ensure that the right acu-point was pierced.

I’ve researched them quite a lot and ultimately decided against it because while it does help someone people, for others it can actually make them worse. So I prefer to stick with regular acupressure sessions, which do help with my basic headaches, if not my migraines/cluster headaches (I’ve got 4 headache disorders, because even my illness is a chronic over achiever). I just need plague times to end so I can go back and see my person :)

I wish rich people went back to keeping artists as pets. Like when you’re wealthy enough you pick a cool weirdo to do regular commissions for you, and if you really want to flex on your peers, you’ve got several.

 And you visit them every once in a while like “hello, I’ve paid for your rent and your tools, have you worked on that commission giant oil painting of me getting sucked off by my political opponent, who is unfortunately still the mayor of this town, like I requested?”

 And your favourite feral art person looks up - mouth full of gravel and completely surrounded by art-related trash like “no, but I designed a helicopter.”

And you’re like “that’s fucking lit, the mayor doesn’t have a helicopter. Please carry on as you have.”

Congrats to the USA folks. According to AP we've hit 200,000 dead from covid-19. Incompetence, ignorance and a lack of empathy and love for each other has led us down this path. Inaction from our presidet would have been harmful enough, but Trump went further.
