My piece is officially installed and ready for the exhibition.
The first wish has been hung up, I can wait to see the ribbon begin to fill up with many wishes!

Today I was painting my exhibition space. Only got one coat of paint on but was an exhausting job prepping to paint.
I will hopefully finish painting tomorrow as I need 3 or 4 coats more to make the space white and bright!

They are such intricate pieces when you focus in on them.

I photographed the printed plaster pieces. I love them laid out like this on the white surface with the white background.
I'm really pleased with the photos.

Today I finally got to photographing my ceramic pieces in the lighting studio.
I'm so ecstatic with how they've turned out. They look so well together. Each piece different and individual.
I'm excited to see viewers reactions to this pile of bark. If they will play through it to find a piece that speaks to them. Or if they will simply just pick the first one they see.
I also can't wait to see what it's going to look like in the exhibition space with my tree and the forest of wishes. It will be so interesting to see the wishes grow while the pile of ceramics depletes.

I was up in the arts centre today and had a snoop around the new ceramic exhibition that was just put up.
This art by Korean artist, Jin Eui Kim is so satisfying to look at. There are videos up in the gallery showing how he adds the colour. Each line of colour is added so delicately and meticulously.

I joined one of the second year photography classes today as they were headed up to the National Library of Wales to look at photo books.
Last year as part of my documentary photography module, I wrote my essay on the work that Gilles Peress took during the time of the Troubles in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and 1980s.
My essay was heavily based on his photobook, 'Whatever You Say, Say Nothing'. The book is filled with sad and tragic images of death, conflict and the streets of Northern Ireland.
This book, 'Annals of the north', however, is the book I got the opportunity to have a look at and read up in the National Library. This is the 'sister' book of 'Whatever You Say, Say Nothing'. It contains so much writing to help those learn about the Troubles. It was so fascinating yet so upsetting to read and look at the images.
I'm from Northern Ireland but was born years after the Troubles were at its worst so reading about the places I'm from and know well just left an ache in my heart. To know what my parents, grandparents and all those living in those times had to go through was heartbreaking.
I could spend over a week disecting this book as it was so informative. From it I learnt things that I wasn't that familiar with. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about the Troubles.

I attended a wonderful and inspirational workshop today in Caersws.
Had such fun and freedom with the dance of the charcoal and the movement of the body.
It was led by artist, Cai Tomos and organised by Oriel Davis

I'm starting new projects already.
Since I'm not finished with experimenting with ceramic bark, I've decided to make a wind chime from pieces.
I love the noise that the glaze fired bark pieces make when they hit against each other so I thought it would be interesting to see them strung up together and if they would make the same noises.
I've also tried making some mugs and vases by hand, so far they aren't too great, but I'm a little scared to use the wheel yet so I'm going to stick to making lumpy and lopsided mugs.
