I just saw the Netflix Shadow and Bone trailer, and I instantly thought of you. I still remember talking about Six of Crows with you, about Kaz and Inej. You introduced me to the series and I'm so so excited that I thought I should just give you an ask because AHHHHHHHH even tho i'm not on tumblr anymore hehe i hope you have a lovely day <3

omg!! that makes me so happy!!  i am super excited for the show <3 so i hope you get to watch it when it comes out too!  even with the notable changes, i’m here more for the characters than pure plot.  so i can’t wait to see the crow babies on screen

Still trying to come to terms with the fact I’ll never be a librarian who can speak a dead language and be recruited by a ruggish but handsome explorer for a quest to lift the curse and save the world

There’s a part in The Princess Bride (the book, it’s not in the movie) where Inigo and Fezzik are looking for Westley after he’s been taken by the Prince, and they’ve been running into obstacle after obstacle, having to overcome them one after the other till they are not only worn out but they find themselves lost in the dark in the Prince’s pit of despair. They overcome and overcome and barely overcome, and then they find Westley.

Dead.

And in the middle of this horrid moment, the passage goes,

“After such effort; after being reunited with Fezzik on this day of days for this one purpose, to find the man to help him revenge his dead Domingo—gone. All was gone. Hope? Gone. Future? Gone. All the driving forces of his life. Gone. Snuffed out. Beaten. Dead.

‘I am Inigo Montoya, the son of Domingo Montoya, and I do not accept it.’”

And he drags Westley’s dead body to Max and stakes everything on a miracle happening. He is literally at the bottom of the pit of Despair with a dead man and instead of succumbing to despair himself he stops and says “I do not accept it.” 

And that is one of the most powerful moments in any story I’ve read. Because  sometimes the bravest and hardest thing is to insist on hope when it seems like there is none. To say no. I do not accept it. And look for a miracle if that’s what it takes!

So, You want Nina Zenik

I love young adult fiction for its strong female leads- however just as I wish there was more racial diversity in YA female leads, I also wish there was more body diversity as well. I am tired of reading about the rail thin heroine who has a small chest- so small in fact that she can pass as a boy in the right scheme and plot (cue the trope)- a small 110 pound body and a complex to match, wishing she was somehow more curvy, yet the character itself still plays into ingrained body standards from the readers point of view. No, I want to read about thick female leads- strong women who have wide hips and fluffy arms and a soft stomach. I want to read about a female lead who eats, actually eats, and has the strong body to show for it. I want to read about a female lead who is super curvy- so curvy that they could not possibly dress as a boy to get into the city to evade the evil king ;)- and knows how to use that both to distract and entice. I want a female lead who is PROUD of her curves and is aware of all of her assets. I am tired of reading about small birds- give me women with bones and meat and stretch marks!
