Day 20 of Doggust was the Jack Russel Terrier!

I don’t know why this didn’t post last night, but Doggust day 19 was the Pit Bull!

Doggust, day 15, the Bernese mountain dog!

We had a berner once, my mum got him while I was in college. His name was Duke and he was a giant ❤️

Doggust, day 14, the Golden Retriever!

One of the most popular dog breeds, Golden Retrievers come from Scotland. Though they are named for their striking golden color, their coats can range from cream/white to mahogany red.

White coat here requested by a friend, as her first dogo was a white golden retriever

And now for TODAY’S dog, Doggust, day 13, the beagle!

They rank up with bloodhounds and basset hounds as one of the best noses in the dog world.

Ok so I totally had this up and typed out to post yesterday but I guess I forgot to actually CLICK post. So….day late. Today is now a two dog day.

Doggust, day 12, the smallest retriever with the longest name, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever 🦆🐕

Originating in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia Canada, the Duck Tolling Retriever is the smallest of all retrievers. They are sometimes mistaken for small Golden Retrievers though.

Doggust, day 11, the greyhound!

Greyhounds are one of the fastest land animals on earth, maxing out start mph. They run in a gate called “double suspension gallop”, during which all four feet are off the ground twice in a stride.

Doggust, day 10, the Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie

Shetland sheepdogs, or Shelties, excel at dog sports, and are ranked as “one of the brightest dogs”, placing 6th out of 138 tested breeds.

Doggust, day 9, the schnauzer!

Schnauzers are a German breed that have had many jobs since the 16th century, including working as ratters, guards for livestock and homes, and even war messengers.

Doggust, day 8, the Alaskan Malamute

I had…SO. Much. Trouble. With this dog. Every more dynamic pose I tried failed. I actually spent three times as long on this one as I have on any other Doggust drawing so far. Lots of restarts. In the end, I went with a more simple pose, referenced from an old photo I took of my brother’s late malamute mix. That worked nicely.

Great Danes come in many colors, but I didn’t know fawn harlequin was a thing until doing this. I am so totally in love, possible favorite dog coat color combo yet ❤️

Australian shepherds don’t come from Australia, but rather from the United States, with ancestry from Spain. They are popular ranching and herding dogs.
