It finally clicked in my head how Conquest's monologue about being lonely is a perfect addition to weigh on Mark's character.
Throughout the entire story up to the Invincible War, Mark has been holding back on how he fights because he is afraid of becoming a destructive force like his father, he is afraid of hurting everyone around him.
When Conquest talks about how his loneliness stems from becoming better and stronger to the point of becoming a monster, something that scares everyone, alienating himself from his peers, it is an excellent nightmare scenario that adds up to Mark's growing concerns.
It then becomes the greater challenge for Mark, a test of his will and where his heart truly is. Because while Conquest laments his imposed destiny, he still takes joy out of it because it is all he has left.
Meanwhile, Mark has much more to fight for, he still has friends, family, and people to worry and care about. But at the same time he is at risk of losing it all, not because of things happening to them, but because of his negligence, only locking in when people have already been hurt, or when the only people he cares about are in serious danger.
One wrong move or decision can definitely alienate him as well, just how Nolan can no longer be seen as a hero by people after what he did despite having saved many lives in the past, he fractured that trust and became a monster to humanity.
Mark is at that very threshold with people who still have faith in him, and people who want him gone.
Becoming like Nolan is not Mark's only worry now. Conquest is the personification of Mark's deepest fears.
Conquest is lonely. Nolan became an outcast. How long until everyone turns their back on Mark?
And boy, if you read the comics, it all comes together. Good grief.

I don't know if this is a canon thing or ever established, but I have this headcanon that Viltrumites grow bigger the older they get. Kinda like goldfish lmao
Like, sure, another logical thing is they can also grow bigger based on their strength and that's pretty obvious.
But the idea that, if Viltrumites didn't have a lifespan determined by whether they end up dying in battle or something, they could just keep growing into literal titans is pretty freaking awesome.
Like Conquest, considered very old by Viltrumite standards and he's a hulking menace.
Though there is Thragg who is likely younger and is built like a freaking brick shithouse, and then Thadeus who is old as well yet still pretty small which very much establishes the "growth by strength" idea but that is not as cool imo.
Because, to me, Viltrumites growing indeterminately with age sells the concept that they are superhuman aliens that lived in different atmospheric conditions like how prehistoric animals were ridiculously large due to higher oxygen levels y'know?
