I tried it once and the fact it inserted random songs while limiting my skips pissed me off so much. What an awful experience; I don't trust any company offering a free tier THAT bad to be a service worth giving money to.
I buy my music; i'm aware of alternatives, but most stuff isn't a pain to buy nowadays, either. I listen to the same songs a lot, so its financially cheaper for me to do, and the artists get more from it, too. If anyone else finds themselves listening to the same few albums or songs most the time... consider buying them and scrapping spotify. It might be more expensive upfront if you haven't built up a collection yet, but it'll be cheaper long-term, and you wont be at the whims of a shitty company for your music.
(And honestly, if money's the issue, other commenters have suggested those cheaper alternatives in detail)
I guess hot take but I never understood why Spotify is so popular. Its like, the absolute worst music app of all time. Its hardly even functional. The ads are absurdly long and frequent, searching for songs is a pain in the ass. You have to PAY to skip ahead in the Playlist?
This is absolute hell, why does ANYONE use it? And why has it become the defacto music site? Why is it just something that everyone uses? I literally cant use the fucking thing, It has a worse search function than tumblr! You are better off getting your music in any other way. Even youtube is better. Sheeesh!

I feel crazy because this ask got me curious enough to look into this and in the same interview containing this information about her not engaging with much other red hood comics, there's this entire section (bolded is the interviewer, the rest is Gretchen Felker-Martin):
"People seem to really like Jason Todd, but often – and this is just my assessment – in opposition to any actual comics that he appears to star in. There's this version of the character that seems to live in people's heads that bears only a glancing relationship with the way that the character has often been written. It's hard for me to think of other characters where that's as obvious.
Yeah. I think that we see this relationship between fandom and fictional characters a lot where over time this sense of ownership develops, whether it's through fan fiction or just sort of emotional investment, and also inevitably the ideas that live inside people's heads diverge from what's happening on the page. And so you get a lot of people who have stopped understanding how to read a comic, or a story, and then continually frustrate themselves by trying, what they actually want is probably to create their own work.
And I encourage that! If there's some vision that people want to see executed, they should go and execute it. And although I know this is completely futile, I’d just ask that they understand that I'm intentionally not in conversation with those ideas."
This sounds extremely clear that she is not heading toward any fandom interpretation? In the exact same interview?
The series summary also doesn't sound remotely batfam, but I'm just.... baffled how such a fear came about with how blatant this section is.
Edit: to add the source
Do you pay all that much attention to the more recent directions that the batman (and extended batfam) writers have been dragging everyone?
Because i am SO worried about the post-H2SH (barf) series about Jason which has a writer who's openly said she refuses to engage with any of the previously written Jason content...
Which honestly feels almost batfam fandom-y of her??? I don't know, the art looks great, but i have zero faith that Jason or Helena are going to not be butchered characterwise :(
I'm mostly just sitting here manifesting a psychic protection circle for Gretchen Felker Martin against all of the chodes whose criticisms of whatever the fuck she's writing are going to veer straight into transphobia. or, you know, the even bigger chodes who will do just obvious transphobia but try to sell it as criticism.

The novel covers this a bit, too!

It's an AU story, so it's not as canon as the game, of course, but this is still a time Noctis spends actually reflecting on how he was raised that I really appreciated seeing. :)
Like was mentioned above, it wasn't that he wasn't raised as a successor, but instead that he was, by their kingdom's standards, an extremely spoiled prince. Regis knew Noctis liked his freedom and thus allowed him more freedoms than was the norm, that's all.
Most people don't seem to know the true meaning of the prophecy, and if Noctis really wasn't seriously being raised to succeed the throne, the backlash would have been way worse (and extremely suspicious to everyone, including Noctis himself, surely!)
Something I saw somewhere is the idea that Regis didn’t raise Noctis in regards to becoming a proper King because of the prophecy/people perceive him that way (ex: Gladio thinks Noctis is spoiled and stuck up originally), and Noctis’s destiny not as King of Lucis, but the Chosen King of Light.
Sacrifice = isn’t going to get to rule.
But now I keep thinking about if he did raise Noctis as a king, because his visions from the crystal showed a far older Noctis on the throne of Lucis, a man in his thirties - old enough to be wed, old enough to have children of his own, old enough to have ruled (and probably not the youngest or shortest reigning monarch either, honestly).
And Regis knows what’s coming. He just doesn’t know how soon. He thinks his son has at least ten years more - a wedding, children, some sort of happiness in his future even if his is a life to be cut short too soon - but Noctis doesn’t.
Not in the way Regis thinks.
Noctis will die twenty years younger than Regis is killed at.
There’s the quips at the beginning of the game where ‘at least Noctis didn’t have to give a speech’ and so on, so he probably had lessons on elocution and was expected to write his own speeches at the very least, Noctis did have a variety of royal duties to attend to such as reading political reports - so he was raised to rule. Maybe he just wasn’t raised as intensely as others before him were?
Also, Noctis is capable as both a Prince and I think as a King. We see it in Altissia with the choices he can make and so on. Graduated top of his class.

I liked the dmc anime, although I can certainly agree with a lot of complaints because I, too, prefer how the games handled things.
But everytime I see people misinterpreting the politics in the anime as a reason to hate it, I'm utterly baffled. They play American Idiot as America goes in to bomb the shit out of what's clearly been established as a region of oppressed people because they see them as dangerous and unholy sins against God. It's as subtle as a baseball bat to the goddamn face.
I would have initially agreed with the people saying it's too blunt, but apparently it's somehow not blunt enough!

Sometimes it does feel weird talking about NSFW bans because you either see it discussed in the sense of "NSFW bans are bad because the systems just randomly shoot innocent queer people!" or "The NSFW was bad (supposedly) but all the weirdos who jacked off to porn went away so things are nicer now" and its like
man that's great meanwhile I don't think Mastercard should decide if I pay someone to draw Cynthia from Pokemon being brainwashed or not.

I beat ff15! Well, the main story, the dlc will be later.
It's funny; I didn't care too much about most the plot at all. I straight up laughed at some serious cutscenes because they didn't build them up enough imo
But the ending still hit hard. It's been a few hours and I'm still feeling something. I'm rotating that mid-credits scene in my head. Still thinking of our travel photos; struggled hard to pick which one to bring to the final fight, an adorably tragic detail. It shows how much the game got me to love the bros for me to care despite just kinda shrugging through the main plot.
I'll see them again in the dlc, but I already miss them. They really are the best...!
