Papa Het talking about the new album and the concept behind the name 72 Seasons, which refers to the first 18 years of life, and how one defines himself afterwards. I believe there's a little more to the concept though. As much as Hetfield was inspired by the impact this book had on his personal life, there's no doubt that this was also viewed through the lens of the band, Metallica.
With their first gig being in 1982, the first 18 years of Metallica takes them right to 2000. That was Jason Newsted's last performance with them. No doubt, the end of an era. After that, Metallica's path has been filled with redefining themselves, experimental projects, finding their place in a vastly different music industry. You might even say "growing up as a band." As they approach their 60s, I think they're confident in their ability to have remained relevant, powerful and poignant.
Metallica mirrors James Hetfield. He has referred to the band as "Some Kind of Monster" that is along with him in his life. So to me, while the title 72 Seasons does mean a lot to Hetfield's personal journey as he shares in this video, the album title is also heavily relevant to the Metallica journey.

Metallica Harvesters of Sorrow figures from MacFarlane Toys
A secondhand toy store posted these to their Facebook page, and I happened to be scrolling the second the image popped up. I messaged them IMMEDIATELY.
They shipped to me the next day. I had been looking for these since their release and I had given up hope that I would ever get them at a decent price.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO Figure Four Toys & Games in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the awesome customer service.

True story!
I was talking about travelling to see Metallica in Chile in late 2021 with friend online. And for ONE MOMENT, I forgot about COVID-19 and all the restrictions that come with it.

From the desk of Sask and Destroy Chapter Head:
I was always a fan of the Load style and artwork. It always looked bad ass to me. This photo was printed in So What Magazine; it was a special photo issue.
Metal shouldn't be confined to bad jeans and old t-shirts. Don't get me wrong, if that's your look, then rock your look like a champion! But it shouldn't be confined to that look. So when Load was released and Metallica was looking like this in the CD jacket, I was a fan.
So here is my appreciation post for the Load style.
