Don't think of it as goodbye..
@koffiehuis-love
Coward
Is what he is. Joaquim couldn't face Jan, his own husband, well.. ex-husband nor could he handle the guilt of facing Lilli either. Gradually, little by little, he's felt a distance grow between them. It was a small thing at first, barley noticeable, thinking maybe it was his own imagination. Maybe he needed a brief vacation from his home life. Maybe he needed to see the waters of Portugal and rejuvenate his senses. But as time went on Joaquim felt that distance grow vast, deepening, until he felt as if he was going to drown in the monotonous of the abyss. Being with Jan he found that he was losing himself. Found that he was no longer himself. As they say, old habits die hard and Joaquim Manuel Carvalho de Silva is a habit he can't give up.
So he did the one thing unfathomable and so unlike him; he snuck behind Jan's back and filed for divorce. Without speaking. With no forewarning. It's cruel, yes. Selfish even but he feared seeing the man he spent the past 11 months of his life with would break him. He'd lose his nerve no doubt. Shatter his heart. Well, that too has been shattered the moment he signed those papers. It breaks, and still breaking even as he nervously knocks on Jan's door

PSA; Indefinite Hiatus
Originally I was only going to take a break from Portugal's blog for the month of June but after giving it a lot of thought it's with a heavy heart to say but I'm dropping the muse altogether. There's a lot of things that haven't been quite right and for one reason or another I've been finding myself struggling to keep writing and coming back. I've had a lot of fun times. Amazing times, but I think for now it's time for me to throw in the towel. Who knows, I still love my muse very much and I may be back in the future but I can't keep forcing myself to write when writing as him isn't as enjoyable as it used to be.
P.S if you want to still chat and possibly rp message for my discord!

April 9, 1918 - Battle of Lys Begins
Pictured - Portuguese soldiers take aim. The outnumbered Portuguese Expeditionary Corps was largely destroyed during the battle.
The first round of the German Spring Offensive was over. Operation Michael had been meant to crack through British lines and seize the Channel ports, hopefully driving the BEF off of the continent. It had failed. The French and British made a joint stand before Amiens which held off Ludendorff’s armies. By the end of the battle on April 6 both sides had lost 250,000 troops.
But round two began on April 9 as the regrouped German armies attacked further north of Arras, hoping to capture the Ypres Salient. Operation Georgette was smaller than Michael but with similar aims and methods. A sudden, thunderous bombardment of 400,000 gas shells fell on Armentières on the river Lys, held by the British First and Second Armies.
The Germans wisely chose the weakest part of the Allied line for their greatest hammer blow. The Portuguese Expeditionary Corps had arrived in early 1917, but since then its morale had plummeted. The cold winter weather had dulled spirits, and few Portuguese troops felt their nation had any great reason to be at war with Germany. When storm troops arrived at the Portuguese trenches on H-Hour in the early morning of April 9, they found most of them had been abandoned after the bombardment. The Portuguese presence on the Western Front essentially ceased to exist, with 6,000 men captured and another 13,000 sent scattering. To be fair, any formation would likely have broken under the attack. The rapid German breakthrough was soon stalled by heavy British resistance.
