Yahoo Mobile Developer Suite Now Includes Apple Watch Analytics
By Brad Jones, Director, Product Management, Flurry from Yahoo
Today, we announced Apple Watch analytics within Flurry Analytics! With Flurry’s new Watch analytics, developers can understand user behavior in their apps across phones, tablets, and Watch extensions.
Tumblr media
Developers have the ability to track custom Apple Watch events to measure how users are interacting with the experiences they develop for the smallest screen. They will also be able to understand how users engage with the app running on the Apple Watch and its parent app on the user’s smartphone.
Watch Metrics available are:
New Users
Active Users
Total Event Occurrences: Sum of the Total Events by Day
Daily Average Event Occurrences: This value is the sum of the Total Events by Day metric for the date range selected divided by the number of days in that period.
Daily Average Unique Event Users:  This value is the sum of the Unique Users Performing Event by Day metric for the date range selected divided by the number of days in that period.
Events Users as percent of Active App Users: Percentage of app users engaging with watch extension. This metric helps you understand how engagement balances out between the watch app and the phone app.
To get started, all developers need to do is create a Watch Extension Key in their iPhone app, get the latest SDK, add the Watch extension key to their app, and then submit it to the App Store. Developers can create a Watch extension key on the App Info page under the Manage menu when viewing their parent app’s metrics on dev.flurry.com.
Get Started Now!

Most companies use 0 and o and O in their serial numbers, as well as 1 and I. If they used nothing but letters, words in fact, there'd be no confusion. Make a list of 1000 short words, use each word twice and you have a million numbers. FISHY-LASSO, for example. Easy to remember, hard to screw up.

On work: it’s difficult to do a great job on work you don’t care about.  And it’s hard to be totally happy/fulfilled in life if you don’t like what you do for your work.  Work very hard—a surprising number of people will be offended that you choose to work hard—but not so hard that the rest of your life passes you by.  Aim to be the best in the world at whatever you do professionally.  Even if you miss, you’ll probably end up in a pretty good place.

Probably the single best thing to happen to me in my career was having had Kellan placed in charge of me. I stuck around long enough to see Kellan's technical decisionmaking start to bear fruit. I learned a great deal from this, but I also learned a great deal as a result of this. I would not have been free to become the engineer that wrote Data Driven Products Now! if Kellan had not been there to so thoroughly stick the landing on technology choices.
