i have a silly question! i know you said recently that the dogs’ vfd tattoos are under the flap of their ear, but where would the tattoo be if the dog was like a chihuahua or something with pointed ears? would it be in the same spot or does it have to be hidden? love your work!

Actually that's a really good question and one I should have been putting more thought into! I got lucky with Lemony's one floppy(er) ear, that actually came together by accident! Olaf is a borzoi, and his tattoo can be seen easily, but that never bothered me since he is always getting caught in the books because of it and trying to hide it. I figure if a VFD dog has pointed ears, it can be up to them - hide it with an accessory? (Not too strange since a lot of my Snicket Dogs wear hats!) Or just wear it out in the open like so many Count Olafs? I guess it would depend on which dog it is and how they feel about it.

Also, the tattoo being in the ear would change the lyrics of that "Little Snicket Lad" song, and so I did make a doodle making fun of that, too!

My October Art Things were on hiatus due to receiving bad news about my pet mouse, Lloyd, and wanting to spend time with him while I can (he can't be out while I do art) but he's asleep at the moment and I couldn't not take this chance to draw my boy Squeak Bellerophon.

Hey all, I know I do not have much reach here and I barely know how to use Tumblr, but my friend needs help very badly, and I need very badly for a lot of people to come together to help them, because if we can't raise enough through the gofundme, I'm gonna have to co-sign for a loan and that terrifies me, but I'm the only one who can possibly do so. Happy (???) 25th Anniversary to Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events!

(It was yesterday actually but I was to overwhelmed by a few things to post this across every platform)

Went to a meet-and-greet with Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket at Doylestown Bookshop last friday! This is the second time I have met him, the first time I didn't expect to see him.* I don't like my photo taken but I love the funny photos he takes with everyone, so as a kind of last minute idea I asked if he would pose "with" my Snicket Pup (which I had shown him last time we met, lol) and I was prepared for him to say absolutely not, but...not only did he do it, he nailed it. I just told him to do whatever he wanted and I love how it came out! He said he always wanted to know what it would be like to be Bob Hoskins in Who Framed Roger Rabbit so I hope I got the right vibe. *It was at a play he was workshopping and everyone told me he'd probably be there but I was a fool and thought of course he wouldn't be, he'd be watching it remotely at MOST, why would be be in New Jersey?? Yeah so of course I was wrong about that. I'm an idiot.

He also signed some books for me and I gave him a gift (a hand typed/bound/illustrated book, my translations of a small collection of 100 year old works by Kenji Miyazawa). It was such an amazing experience, once again! If you ever get a chance to meet this wonderful man, do!

Also read his new memoir, And Then? And Then? What Else? It's really, really good! (I ended up with four copies by accident but I don't regret it because they each had something special attached, i.e. the first one came two weeks early for no reason, which allowed me to read it at my own pace before meeting with him, which made me very happy! Forgot to ask my questions specific to that book, though, damn it!)
