This is in regards to that unpopular character post you made - I'm not sure she counts, but I'm obsessed with Yosano. She's got parallels to basically every character, has the potential to be the strongest character in the series considering she can't be killed, has a bunch of unhealthy coping mechanisms no one talks about and is clearly a mess of a person while managing to be competent and mature about it. I really want more focus on her soon because she's a core member of the ADA yet she's gotten like 2 fight scenes and barely any focus.
Also, I think Naomi Tanizaki is such a fun character. People don't like her because of the whole incest thing, but what we see of her beyond her brother is someone who's cunning, manipulative, but also proactive and demonstrates more desire to save people than like anyone else in the Agency lol. I've read the book her character is based on and she could be a strategic character so easily because she's clearly intelligent and if Asagiri stepped away from Fyodor's bullshit to remember she exists I'm convinced she could become a fan favorite.
I think Yosano technically can be killed, since her ability requires conscious activation (as in, it doesn’t just activate on its own when she’s gravely injured—she has to choose to activate it)— so if she were to be killed in a way that kills too quickly to activate it, or if she were unconscious when attacked, then theoretically she can be killed.
That being said, she is very powerful and very underutilized in the series. Credit where credit’s due, I appreciate how Asagiri had her be a part of the combat unite that was sent to accost Chuuya during the Guild arc. Both Chuuya and Kenji are objectively incredibly strong combative (some of the strongest in the series), and I love that Yosano was grouped in with them.
I would count her as relatively not popular, purely on the basis that all the bsd girls have significantly less fandom attention than the guys. While I would say Yosano is the most popular girl (mainly because she’s the one with the most thorough backstory, and one of the few characters to have connections to multiple organizations), that’s really not saying much when you compare her popularity to some of the less popular bsd guy characters.
And onto Naomi—yeah the anime completely destroyed her entire character. When I read the manga, I was surprised by just how interesting of a character she is. You know how there’s this running theory that she’s just an illusion from Tanizaki’s ability? I posted a few months ago (half-jokingly) that she’s actually the one with the ability and Tanizaki is the illusion she’s creating.
That being said, I’d like to change that theory a bit. Both her and Tanizaki are real people, but Naomi is the one with the ability. Every time we see Tanizaki use his ability, it’s actually Naomi creating the illusions, and Tanizaki is just miming being in control of them. In scenes where Tanizaki is doing things when Naomi’s not physically there, Naomi is just overlaying Tanizaki’s image onto herself.
But back to the canon stuff—I wanna see Naomi fight the Port Mafia (or whoever the enemy of the week is next). In all seriousness, I really want to see what Naomi is capable of. The manga demonstrates that to some extent in the Guild arc, but I want her to have at least one significant enough scene in the manga that Bones won’t be able to cut.

Let me rephrase, what gave you the idea to call it “good omens”?
We had to call it something. Terry suggested "The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" and I suggested "Good Omens" so we compromised and called it both.
I wanted something about prophecies, and something to let people know we were parodying The Omen.

Second Anniversary Special
As many of the long-time followers of this blog know, I originally started out on the classic literature side of tumblr, which is what lead to my venturing into bsd. As an homage to my roots as a classic lit enthusiast, I’ll be going through all the works that I’ve read written by bsd authors:
The Spider’s Thread by Akutagawa
This short story is brought up in a lot of animes, which is unfortunately the most likely way western bsd fans. I could make an entire separate post of commentary on how the American school system doesn’t cover most foreign literature (outside of English [as in from England] and French works), and that is an absolute travesty. However, that’s not what we’re covering right now.
Anyway. The Spider’s Thread is a very short story—like two pages at most. You can go read it now. For all the other entries I plan on rating the novels out of 5, but this one’s truly too short to rate. If you wanna read it you can find a hundred pdfs online. The same probably goes for most works of classic literature, so. Go wild enjoy the wonderful world of free online pdfs.
The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe
I was probably assigned other works by Poe, but this one is most likely his most famous short story. I was assigned it in middle school/high school/ and at least twice in college. Again, very short short story—you can read it in a few minutes tops.
5/5 for the sole reason of it aligning with my personal sense of humor. I get that it’s not supposed to be funny, but unreliable narrators are and will always be hilarious to me. I love a guy insisting that he’s not crazy while he’s off murdering a guy. Cask of Amontillado-core protagonist. Funny because E.A. Poe also wrote Cask of Amantillado. I’m out here starting to suspect that E.A. Poe just really loved writing his unnamed unreliable narrator protagonists.
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
I’ve never read Tom Sawyer, but in 11th grade my class read Huckleberry Finn. 3/5 because I don’t like the way it was taught in class, but I did enjoy analyzing it more than some other books we did.
Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky
Currently reading it so I can’t give much feedback, but so far I’d like this guy (Raskolnikov not Dostoyevsky) to meet Meursault from The Stranger. If anyone’s made this crossover, please send it to me. And if not and you wanna go make it yourself—please I’ll love you forever.
Dracula by Bram Stoker
I mean we’ve all done Dracula Daily. Or at least I’ll assume you’ve heard of it. 5/5, Mina’s best girl, Quincey’s best boy, I have very basic opinions but I’m standing by them.
--Bonus
The Stranger by Camus
Meursault the prison is clearly named after Meursault, the fictional character who famously goes to prison, right. We’re all on the same page about this, right?
Anyway if you’ve never heard of or read the stranger, [spoilers] it’s about this guy who kills a guy for no reason (“it was just so hot outside, idk what happened but now there’s a dead guy, this is a good enough criminal defense right? You’re not gonna send me to jail for just this one little mistake---oh you’re giving me the death penalty? Ah. I see.”) Solid 4/5—points deducted for being a little slow by some parts (although I can’t vouch for how it is in the original French, this was only my impression from the English translation I read)
—————
After making this list, it’s clear that I haven’t read too many books my bsd authors, so next years my anniversary special will be more about the classic literature I have read. I do plan to keep posting until then. So please enjoy another year of the anti-dazai blog!!

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

The student protests for Palestine have been an amazing show of solidarity and support and seeing the way that so many young people are willing to stand up for their values is admirable when so many others stay silent. But this is all to say that we are entering a pattern of glorifying these white “martyrs” from the global west to put all of this effort and resources and media coverage into instead of the actual cause they are fighting for.
I saw the same thing happen with Aaron Bushnell, when his self immolation was being talked about more than the actual genocide in Gaza (which went against everything he said he was self immolating for in the first place).
And again this happened with the prisoner from the US who worked 136 hours just to be able to donate his $17 check to Palestine aid efforts. In response to this, people wanted to help him and ended up raising over $100,000 in a gofundme for him. This feels almost satirical, as every gofundme to help Gazans evacuate Palestine and get to safety has a goal of less than $100,000 and most of them are not even close to reaching it.
And now, there are more and more posts on how to get aid to the college student encampments, and the “urgency” of getting enough bail funds for the students who have been arrested during them. Talking about Palestine itself and getting resources to Palestine has almost been put on the back burner in favour of making all Palestine related news about college students in the United States.
It think it is valuable to recognise the selflessness and importance of these protests, and getting these students resources but what is MORE important, and what these people are truly fighting for, and protesting, and make a statement about is PALESTINE. We have unsurprisingly reached the point where there are people who care much more about the white people fighting for the cause from the comfort of living in the global west than they care about the Palestinians undergoing a genocide in Gaza. It’s become almost blatant racism, the way people begin to drop everything the second a white/usamerican person does something in regards to helping Palestine, but will not put the same effort into a Palestinian IN Gaza who is telling their story or asking for help. I respect anyone who has done absolutely anything to help Palestine, but I hope people are starting to see the pattern of how the media gravitates towards the “white saviour/perfect martyr” instead of the first hand accounts coming from those in Gaza.
Anyway FIND A GOFUNDME AND DONATE TO HELP FAMILIES IN GAZA ESCAPE GENOCIDE
