i'm of the opinion that should gin have survived, he would not get a redemption arc, or rather, he would be disinterested in one. he doesn't care about the gotei at all. [i need to deep dive into how he was as a captain and his relationship with izuru but that's for another day], and he is Not remorseful for his actions or the pain it caused to others. he sees it as having been completely necessary, even to the extent he had gone to. does he regret causing rangiku pain? sort of. but, would he have done things differently? no.

gin's pattern of thinking and reasoning is not of someone who has any "morally good" understanding. in some ways, that could even make him a good soul reaper, but he doesn't even really want to be a shinigami. his whole purpose for joining was for vengeance; to kill aizen, the root cause of rangiku's tears, and anyone else who hurt her. that could likely have also contributed to how easy it was to go along with aizen's plan regardless of his true purpose as well. simply from the fact he doesn't actually give a shit about any of them. [funny how it all goes hand in hand....]

that being said, i actually don't think gin is a good person. he definitely isn't a "good guy" who pretended to go along with the evils of another. like, had he succeeded or at least, failed but not have died, i don't think he has any real interest in returning to the gotei and would likely have been sentenced to imprisonment or death anyways, or to whatever whim suits the central 46 or yamamoto. he doesn't really pose a threat anymore, i don't think. but, he also isn't... not a threat.

he isn't apologizing to anyone. the only one he feels he needs to apologize to is rangiku and even then, it isn't really because of his actions, but that he failed. he would hit that redo button so fast and try to kill aizen all over again and still betray everyone in the process.

growing  up,  orihime  and  sora  didn’t  have  much  financially  or  materially.  running  away  from  an  abusive  household  when  they  were  young,  sora  made  a  living  while  orihime  went  to  school.  combined  with  other  expenses,  usually  grocery  shopping  would  involve  only  the essentials  and  what  could  be  afforded.   sora  didn’t  know  how  to  cook  much.  so,  orihime,  wanting  to  do  her  part  in  helping  her  brother  out,  tried  her  best  to   learn.  and  although  she  became  good  at  cooking,  the  ingredients  they  had  were  often  limited.  in  an  effort  to  include  all  the  nutrients  they needed  and  out  of  her  own  desire  to  experiment  with  different  ingredients,  orihime’s  cooking  often  included  strange  ingredients.  so  as  she  grew  up,  that’s  the  style  of  cooking  she’s  developed.  although  she’s  always  been  one  to  be  adventurous  in  trying  new  foods  and  taking  a  genuine  liking  to  weird  combinations,  a  part  of  this  also  comes  from  her  upbringing  and  environment.

orihime is a student with the kyoto branch, joining in her second year of high school. her abilities had remained latent until her first year of high school. 

her techniques are barrier-based.

- the first technique is Sōten Kisshun  … within the triangular barrier of the technique, she can heal any wound, regenerate any limb and later on, can resurrect the dead. however, it is a mirroring technique. while she can simply use rct to heal as she is versed in the ability, this technique is more potent and can heal to the point where it as though nothing happened, no scarring or soreness or pain within the affected areas. but, it must happen to someone else for it to work. so, it doubles as both a healing technique and an offensive technique. 

- the second technique is Shiten Kōshun  … with a concentrated reinforcement of cursed energy, she can repel attacks, but as another mirroring technique, it focuses the blast outwards. the stronger the attack, the stronger the blast is. however, she herself needs to be capable of absorbing the energy and dispersing it herself. it being a conscious use of the ability rather than something that happens automatically because if she were to simply let it happen, it would easily be uncontrolled and harm herself or others around her. 

- her domain expansion is Koten Zanshun … this is a purely offensive technique and still incomplete. (working on this one tba).

-  also versed in the use of traditional rct. before battles, in order for her to reserve the energy necessary to perform Sōten Kisshun, she imbues her positive cursed energy into meals and snacks. then, she seals them in specially imbued bags and containers that slow the deterioration of the foods / preserves them.

canon divergence information ... inoue orihime.

the biggest thing that i've removed from my canon is the endgame ship. while i do acknowledge orihime's feelings regarding ichigo early on in the series, as personally for me it's one of my favorite portrayals of unrequited love, i am content with it being just that and am not interested in writing it as a ship. moving forward writing with any ichigo, i will write her as having moved past those feelings and viewing ichigo as one of her best friends. please do not ask me to make exceptions on this.

that being said, kazui doesn't exist in my canon.

after the events of tybw, orihime attends art school and majors in papermaking and bookbinding. she also later takes courses that help her to receive a degree in order to become a high school counselor, helping students deal with life changes, grief, etc.

she later runs a small business; selling little plushies she's sown herself online and in small shops in karakura, primarily featured in urahara's shoten.

seto's zanpakuto + abilities ...

zanpakuto : in its unreleased state, her shikai has a lilac hilt with a silver ball bell hanging from it, making a light chime as she walks. she wears her katana slung across her back with a black leather strap around her front.

her sword’s release is “sleep” and her zanpakuto’s name literally translates to “dream stealer”. with the sword’s released state, seto’s blade can plunge into a person’s soul and puts them into a dream like state while awake. however, she can only maintain 1-3 people at a time in that state. the more attention she pays to one person, the deeper asleep they will be. she can manipulate their senses, most particularly their sense of feeling / touch. in this way, it acts as an anesthesia of sorts. however, her zanpakuto’s name implies that it’s much more than that. in truth, her sword has not deemed her ready for its true power, only lending her a part of what its true nature is.

weaknesses : due to the fear of what the true nature of her sword is capable of, this impacts her resolve on the battlefield. but, she has worked hard to enhance and sharpen her healing abilities. she is on par with a seated officer but still has not attained such a position yet.

not much is yet known about seto's past. she isn't very open about her family or other personal details. the only ones who know more about her are tendou or unohana.

because her sword is an illusion type, she is under the central 46's surveillance.

i am interested in exploring the possibility of her being influenced by aizen and possibly joining him in his defection, alongside kaname and gin.

hayato tendou's zanpakuto + abilities ...

zanpakuto : shikai release = 'choke', name for his zanpakuto translates to 'poison mouth'. unreleased, it's a wazikashi sword with a red hilt, worn at his right hip. in it's released state, it consists of ten blades that he uses as projectiles. when injured with a blade, a slow-acting poison enters the bloodstream, gradually infecting the person, first slowing them down and affecting the muscles, then targeting organs such as the lungs foremost, with the brain as the last to go. each slash only injects a certain amount of poison, a microdosage. depending on how quickly a person is slashed in succession determines how likely they are to be fully poisoned and die. ( meaning, the more quickly you're slashed and the more times you are, then you're most likely to die ). however, with hayato's fighting style, he tends to be sadistic, toying with the enemy. so, along with the nature of his zanpakuto and his fighting style, the death is usually slow and agonizing.

another ability of his, using his zanpakuto: he's currently able to swallow up to five of the blades, rendering his body a living poison. although for him, it increases his stamina if he's injured and neutralizes injuries. for others, if touched, an enemy's flesh begins to fester, creating boils and rotting flesh.

kurotsuchi mayuri has helped develop an antidote for the poison used by tendou's zanpakuto, which mayuri, nemu, akon and tendou only have access to.

weaknesses : his shikai has no natural defense besides if he uses the ability to turn his body into poison. after a fight, it takes him 7-10 days to fully recover / safe to be around others as his body "digests" the poison.
