Seeing a bunch of writing posts lately like “it’s okay if you only wrote a couple hundred words today :))”

As someone with a full time job, diverse hobbies, and a commitment to proper rest/self care, I would amend that. It’s okay if you don’t write anything at all on MOST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE. You’re still a writer if you’re passionate about creating stories and putting words on paper when time allows. Life is busy and full of possibility, and that’s beautiful, actually. Kill the hypercapitalist productivity demon in your head.

Just discovered the adorable but endangered bush dog today and I cannot agree with this more. The animals that are still here are amazing and we should focus on helping them!

annoys me when people are like "I wish I could see [some extinct animal] 😢" but then they treat living animals like they're boring or even worse like they're annoying trash that deserves to go exinct. stop crying over graves and start making sure we don't have to dig more

There IS better autism research they could be doing, like trying to discover other medications that help with sensory issues and quality of life problems and trying to get better childhood diagnosis rates for autistic girls. But no, the decades long useless search to find out what causes autism and how to eliminate it continues. The push for “autism research” is never really about how to make things better for autistic people, it’s about how to make autistic people stop existing and that is nottttt possible. But they’ll continue to fixate on it.

Agreed, it’s a fun exercise but not actually good for all writing. Sometimes simple telling hits harder than flashy showing. A good balance is better than relying too much on either, I think.

So... I found this and now it keeps coming to mind. You hear about "life-changing writing advice" all the time and usually its really not—but honestly this is it man.

I'm going to try it.

Saw this game someone posted in a community that I'm not part of (yet which still seems to fill my dash), and figured what the hell. I'm gonna try it. Maybe since it's half the length (technically), this'll be the one Month Of Writing style game I actually finish

I'll be posting the questions one at a time together with the writing prompts because I can only handle being annoying for so long. The writing will run with either the ASM crew or steampunk dragons (whoever jumps out at me), and I'm letting them be anything 100 words and up, to spare my brain. I'll put a note at the top as a warning of how short or long they are

I don't know if anyone's actually interested in what comes out of this? It will all be non-canon, unedited, and set forwards or backwards in time from the main stories. I figure I'll prod the appropriate taglist, but let me know if you do or don't want to be tagged :'D

All that said, I've got the first prompt queued for tomorrow!

You’re not a loser! I semi-disappeared too and I feel similarly about not being on here. I also haven’t been writing bc of mental health… right after I came back to Tumblr like, “I’m going to post so much and interact with EVERYONE!” Yeah, that ain’t happening soon, lol.

Don’t feel any pressure about making yourself write and share it. But if you do, I can try to read any stuff you post while I work on posting my own stuff.

Apologies for semi-disappearing lately. This is because I haven't been writing much lately due to being a worthless depressed loser, I mean, because of mental health reasons. And physical health reasons too, honestly. Anyway. Foxglove Dust has not been going well.

It's been over a month since I finished Faded Daisy. Considering starting the second draft soon, but I probably don't feel up to that either. But I have been thinking more about editing it than I have been about writing Foxglove Dust lately, so maybe I will. I don't know if a month is long enough though. After the second draft is finished, I might look for beta readers, if I think it's good enough by then (might need three drafts though, to be good enough,) so I might just start the second draft to get closer to that point. But I don't know if I'm ready.

reading nabokov is maddening because his writing is so playful and evocative and effortless and english isn't even his first language. he's doing things in a second language most people could spend their lives trying and failing to replicate in their first language. makes me feel like this
