Ellis bit her bottom lip for a couple of seconds thinking about a place they could go. “There’s this really nice restaurant that I know. It’s pretty small.. But the food is amazing and the staff in there is really nice.” It had been a while since Ellis had actually had a proper food with someone else. She specially loved food that wasn’t from the hospital. “Sure, we can go in one car” Ellis replied a little too fast which made her feel somewhat stupid for a second. “I mean, it would be much easier just to go on one car.” Ellis looked at his car before speaking again “Should we go in your car?” She asked. 

Raleigh chuckled lightly as he seen her react quickly to his question about the car riding, he then leaned himself off of the car and opened the passengers side for her, “if anything no one can see your car so it should be good until we can come back and get it.”, he said with a soft smile. It was nice to actually have somebody to talk to outside of work, sure he had his few handful of friends but Raleigh liked talking with Ellis she had a nice personality  and he needed somebody like that around him more.

She sighed quietly and blinked slowly as she sat on the bed, before just deciding to come out and say it. “I have HCM, uncle Raleigh.” Deanna admitted, forcing a smile to the man that had been around and had become family to her.

Raleigh felt his heart sink, he was honestly speechless, “W-Why am I just now finding out about this?..”, he asked softly, he didn’t understand why he wasn’t told by Jo or Alex about Deanna’s condition and to know she had HCM and he hadn’t been there to try and help her with it before crushed him.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you” It was probably weird enough to be in a graveyard, and have someone call out your name, it probably wasn’t something that happened on a daily basis. Ellis giggled when he heard him speak. “It’s okay” She said making a gesture with her hand. “A friend of mine.” She answered not really wanting to get into detail about it. “And I’m sorry for your loss too.” Before answering him, she just thought for a second if there was actually she needed to do. But even if there was, just going for something to eat sounded way better. She just needed to get her mind off of everything “Yeah, I would really like that.” Ellis finally answered with a small smile on her face. “Where do you want to go?” 

“I’m not much of a picky eater so we can go anywhere you wanna go.”, he said with a small smile. It had been awhile since Raleigh really talked with somebody outside of work and it was nice, he was used to the idea of being at home by now and being alone until it was time for him to head into work but today was a different but a good different really. Taking his hands out of his pockets he began to walk over to the cars with her, “If you want we can take one car and come back for another one but if you wanna take  both car that’s fine too”, he offered as he stood by his car looking at her.

“My heart’s never gonna sound good again, uncle Ray.” Deanna mumbled softly but followed Raleigh towards a hospital room without a complaint. She definitely wanted somewhere that she could just sit for a few moments and gather her wits about herself.

Raleigh walked her into one of the empty rooms and helped her onto the bed, “What do you mean it’s never gonna sound good?”, he asked as he seen her look away from him, “Deanna what’s going on?”, he added to his question, he was confused and scared but mostly worried that the girl was hiding something from him and it wasn’t something small at least he figured it wasn’t judging by how she was reacting to his questions.

“Doesn’t….feel like…it.” He finally managed to say. Derek went to take the water from him. Not quite getting a grip on it, he dropped it and it went all over him. He knew from what Amelia had said when she did the neuro check before that his strength wasn’t as it should be then. But he wasn’t sure if this was because of that or the seizure.

Raleigh grabbed the bottle and the top he put it back on the table and grabbed a towel out from the cabinet beside them, “Derek this is coming from a guy who thought that things being okay was a myth.”, he stated as he began to lightly pat the towel on the man where the water had fallen onto him, “The surgery is gonna fix you and before we know it you’re gonna be back to the stubborn Derek that we all look up to.”, he said as he finished drying him off.

Derek looked away. The way things were going, he didn’t even know if he could believe that. Derek was thirsty. He looked over at the water.

Raleigh seen the man look over a the water and walked over tot eh table grabbing it and handing it to him, “Derek I know it’s hard to believe it right now but it’s gonna be fine I wouldn’t say it just to say it.”

Ellis absolutely hated graveyards. It was just a place that made her feel sad, there was nothing nice about them, and she only went there about once every two or three months. Something told her that she probably should go there more often, but the place managed to make her upset in a matter of seconds. After all, visiting you best friend’s grave wasn’t something that cheered anyone up. Ellis sat down next to the headstone, talking to Chloe. She wasn’t quite sure if she could hear her, but it just felt like that, she had so much going on right now and she was usually the person she would go to tell everything… Except she wasn’t there to tell her what to do anymore. After talking for about forty minutes, she finally stood up and quickly wiped away her tears, she left the flowers next to the headstone and started walking back to where her car was. On her way back, she stopped for a second when she thought she spotted a familiar face. “Sawyer?” She asked in a low voice. “Is that you?” She wasn’t really able to see clearly because of the sun, so she could be completely wrong. 

Raleigh lightly jumped as he heard her causing him to lift his head off the headstone, “Ellis?”, he questioned as he hen stood up, “Hey what are you doing here? I mean I think it may be a obvious reason but I just ya know I’m gonna just stop talking.”, he said in a light chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck lightly, “I’m sorry for your loss whomever it may be.”, he said trying to stir the conversation into one that was less awkward for the two of them, Raleigh wasn’t used to people being around him in the graveyard but he couldn’t deny that it was a nice feeling to see somebody he knew well instead of leaving the grounds to go home and be alone with his own thoughts again it was something he was never really good at handling truthfully. “You wanna go get some coffee or something to eat?”, he offered as he slipped his hands into the pockets of his jeans.

Derek looked at Raleigh and nodded. He hoped everything would be fine. He sighed. He glanced around the room before he looked back at him again.

Raleigh ran his fingers through his hair lightly before standing up and patting his arm lightly, “This are gonna get better for you Derek you deserve the better things.”

“Thanks,” she smiled as she accepted the cup. “You are exactly right. But, I’ve still got some work-related stuff to do at home though, so I’m not done as early as I’d like to think.”

Grabbing a couple packets of sugar as he then opened and poured them into his coffee, Raleigh looked back over at her, “You seriously need to stop working before your head explodes off.”, he joked in a chuckle as he then grabbed a lid and sealed the lid down onto his cup, “I don’t think I would survive with the amount of work that you do I’d cave way too quickly.”, he added.

Deanna blinked her eyes open at the familiar voice, happy to see someone that she knew really well. “I’m feeling pretty dizzy.” She replied, pressing one hand to her forehead and letting out a shaky breath.

Raleigh could tell there was something beyond wrong, he then lightly picked her up and carried her down the hall and sat her in the chair as he then took his stethoscope off from around his neck and began to listen to her heart but it wasn’t very clear, he then took them off and looked a her concerned, “De your heart doesn’t sound good at all I wanna get you in a room and keep an eye on you.”, he said as he helped her back up, he wasn’t sure what was going on with her but it had him worried she was practically like his own blood.

Clair watched him as he spoke about his mother’s love for Seattle. “It is a pretty spectacular place,” She said softly. “The rain can get a little annoying, but there’s just something magical about this place.” She noticed that he spoke about his mother in past tense and knew that could only mean one thing, but she wasn’t one to bring a subject like that up. “Have you ever thought about going someplace besides here?” 

“Not really I’ve been one place and instantly wanted to come back here it’s just home.”, he responded as he looked back over at her, “What about you?”, he asked as he leaned back a bit against his palms. Raleigh never could wrap his head around leaving Seattle permanently it was always just the one place he felt was the place he belonged at, even when he left to Texas for awhile it wasn’t as comfortable and it was his hometown before Seattle.

Derek nodded. He looked at Raleigh. It was obvious from the look on his face that he was scared. Who wouldn’t be in this position? Derek rested his head back on the pillow. He was tired.

Raleigh sighed lightly as he sat back down in the chair beside the man, “Look I can tell you’re scared hell I would be too..but you’re gonna be fine I promise I know I’m not exactly the closest to you but I can promise you that it’s gonna be fine it’s scary but it’s gonna be fine.”, he said softly.

Derek shook his head. He sighed. He tried again. Spelling out that Meredith was trying to get Amelia to do it. Derek looked at the paper and then back at Raleigh again. He hoped that he would understand him this time.

Raleigh looked back at the paper once again and read his statement, “Meredith is trying to get her to do it.”, he said to himself lowly as he looked back at Derek, “I’m gonna make sure she does if it’s the last thing I do I promise.”, he said.

Derek nodded.  He started to spell something else out. He was trying to tell him that Meredith was trying to convince Amelia to do it. Derek still kind of hoped that she would. He moved his hand away from the paper.

Raleigh looked back at the paper and read what he had spelled out, “Amelia?”, he questioned as he then looked back at him, “Wait are you saying that Amelia is trying to do the surgery?”, he added to his question.

Clair nodded slightly, “Thank you,” she said softly. “I didn’t handle it well then, but I think that is part of what influenced me to pursue psych as well…to help other individuals who are struggling with something.” She shrugged her shoulders before changing the subject slightly, “What brought you to Seattle?” 

“My mother loved it here I felt it was he right place to be.”, Raleigh responded to her question as he looked at the water, “She loved it here more than any place in the world she could have been offered the best beach in the world and she’d still pick to be here and I can see why it’s a great place to be.”, he said as he looked back at her.

Derek watched as he did this. He knew that Meredith was trying to convince Amelia to do the surgery but he knew that there was a big chance she wouldn’t. Derek looked at the piece of paper. He started to spell out someones name.

Raleigh followed behind him with the pen and began to circle the letters he pointed to putting numbers beside them to know what order to put them in, after getting the entire name circled and spelled out he looked at Derek, “so this is the one?”, he asked making sure he had it.

“Well…” Clair said as she watched him swim to the edge and lift himself out of the pool. “My family and I moved to Seattle when I was 14, and a couple of years later my dad got sick and ended up at Seattle Grace for a while.” She moved so that she was sitting next to him with her feet hanging in the pool. “When I decided that I wanted to study psychology and began looking for internship possibilities, Seattle Grace stuck out to me and I knew that’s where I wanted to work.” 

Raleigh nodded lightly while listing to her story, “It’s a great place to be lots of good people work there they care a lot about one another it’s basically like a second home to go to.”, he said as he looked over at the small girl, “I’m sorry about your dad.”, he added remembering she had said he had gotten sick earlier in their conversation, “It’s never easy to lose a loved one especially at that age.”, he added once more.
