haikyuu sleeping habits

this is a filler post because im too stressed about my academics to write something that ill be satisfied with :( should I make a part 2 for this??

hinata -> sleeps spread-eagle with his pillows and blankets halfway falling off the bed. practices before bedtime so he’s always hyper and it takes him a good half an hour before he falls asleep

kageyama -> room is completely dark with not a single crack of light. has a bolster that he cuddles but would never admit it. only one single pillow because this man is a psychopath

nishinoya -> loves sleeping but is also an early bird so he heads to bed 10pm on the dot. a heavy sleeper and once literally slept through new years fireworks.

tanaka -> once tried sleeping with his textbook under his pillow for a test that he forgot to study. it didn’t work

daichi -> this man sleeps on his back with his hands tucked in perfectly this is canon. his morning alarm traumatises him but still manages to get up in time

tsukishima -> has a consistent sleeping schedule and always makes his bed. tried to fall asleep to asmr instead of music once and was so disgusted that he had to pull an all nighter.

kenma -> believes that time is a construct of human perception and refuses to sleep early. hides his psp under his pillow in case someone catches him awake at 4am

kuroo -> two pillows so he can smush his hair in between. honestly he probably sleeptalks. pops over to kenma’s for sleepovers sometimes and also goes for runs in the early morning

bokuto -> has a night light beside his bed. take forever to fall asleep and shuffles constantly throughout the night. sleeps like a baby and lets out soft snores when he’s extra tired

akaashi -> strikes me as the type to read right before bed. bed is always super clean and never wrinkled. light sleeper (bokuto sometimes calls him when he can’t fall asleep)

so I’m back after my unannounced four month hiatus !

i was honestly not planning to take a break so soon after i started by blog but there were so many family issues that just kept piling on and I had to put this to the side but im back now :’)

ill be revamping my blog and filling in requests here and there but ill still be semi-ia because of my academics

a/n: i think this is definitely not one my best works n my characterisation is a bit off :( it’s also slightly angsty, which is odd because i initially thought i’d write a more crack like piece for this.

- it was rare for the two of your to go out on extravagantly planned dates — most of the time, the two of your would preferred lazy home dates

- you were focused on your academics, and daichi’s schedule was filled to the brim with volleyball practices and training camps

- so when karasuno won the miyagi representative playoffs, the two of you were overjoyed. daichi’s workload significantly decreased after that, and he announced to you that he wanted to take you out on a proper date

- you were giddy with excitement at the thought of going on a date with your boyfriend — daichi was an expert date planner, and every single outing the two of you experienced had been wonderful

- twirling in front of the mirror one last time, you finished up some minor adjustments before you departed to meet daichi at the park

- when you saw him, you immediately ran over to engulf him in a hug. “daichi, i’ve missed you.”

- “y/n, i’ve missed you a lot too,” he murmured back. “i’ll make it up to you today, okay? i’m sorry that i’ve been so busy with volleyball for the past few weeks…”

- pressing a quick kiss to his cheeks, you shook your head. “you don’t have to apologise, it’s not your fault. but i am curious what you’ve planned for us today.”

- daichi ended up taking you to a botanic garden nearby, a place that you had wanted to visit for months

- the two of you relished the tranquil atmosphere of the park, strolling along the cobblestone paths with fingers intertwined.

- it was beyond your expectations; and you were amazed at how well daichi knew your preferences

- “so, how do you like it?” daichi turned towards you, reaching his hand to rub his nape.

- you smiled at him fondly. “it’s wonderf—“

- “daichi? y/n? what are you guys doing here?” a voice rang out.

- you whipped your head around, only to see asahi and sugawara standing there.

- from the corner of your eye, you could see daichi’s expression almost fall flat, before composing himself and speaking up. “i’m taking y/n out on a date today. and what about you guys?”

- “he wanted to check out this place for inspiration on gardening,” suga jabbed a finger in asahi’s direction. the latter nodded, revealing a meek smile. “i wanted to see what i could add to my succulent collection.”

- “would you two mind if we followed you out later? we lost our map on our way here and asahi really needs to find the gift shop.”

- you nodded at the pair, before turning back to daichi. “that’s okay with you, right?”

- and so the four of you departedand finished touring the gardens. sure, it was a little more lively and merry with extra company, but daichi couldn’t help but wish it was just the two of you

- asahi and suga bid their goodbyes as they reached the gift shop, and you and daichi headed off to the next and final location of your date, a cafe

- your eyes practically sparkled as daichi led you into the cafe. “dai, how’d you know i wanted to come here?”

- he laughed, before reaching down to ruffle your hair. “i didn’t, but i know you love cakes and sweets so i put two and two together.”

- the waitress came and took order for two drinks and two cakes and daichi, being the gentleman that he is, insisted to pay

- you sighed content, and smiled at daichi, who was passionately talking about their match against shiratorizawa when you heard an oddly familiar voice or two

- no, three. four? you slowly turn your head to the left when you spot hinata, kageyama, tsukishima, and yamaguchi approaching your cafe.

- before you could even warn daichi about what was happening, hinata had already spotted you, and came bounding over. “daichi-san!! y/n-san!!”

- kageyama, tsukishima, and yamaguchi all bowed politely, before taking a seat on the table next to the one you were sitting in.

- at this point, you could notice daichi getting more and more upset, and you quickly finished up your cake before excusing yourself

- “i’m sorry, but daichi and i have somewhere to be in a minute. we’ll see you guys next week at school!” you gave them a little wave, before grabbing onto daichi’s hand and rushing out of the cafe

- as the two of your slowly strolled home, daichi turned to you with a solemn expression on his face. “y/n, i’m sorry. i didn’t expect this to happen. it’s been so long since we’ve last gone out like this and i just—“

- “what are you talking about?” you cut him off. “i had a great time today, dai. i know you’re upset that they interrupted our date and all but, you know what? i still had the most amazing time with you today. and that’s what matters.”

- reassured by your words, daichi placed a hand tenderly on your cheek, brushing a stray strand of hair away before leaning down for a soft kiss

- mumbling into your lips, he whispered “thank you, y/n.”

a/n: I feel like sakusa’s a bit ooc in this one, so i apologise for that, anon.

- let’s be real here, sakusa probably isn’t one to watch much anime, much less get emotionally invested in them

- he can’t really pinpoint why someone would have such strong emotional reactions to them. after all, it’s not real, right?

- from your previous experiences on going on movie dates with sakusa, you’ve become aware that your boyfriend isn’t the most responsive during such activities

- hence, you usually watched your favourite anime in your alone time, bundled up in hoards if blankets and snuggled deeply in one of his hoodies

- sakusa had extra practice today, so you turned on a silent voice, an anime film that you’ve been dying to watch. you weren’t really sure what it was about and heck you didn’t even know what genre it was but the magnificent reviews were enough to convince you

- you propped up your laptop on a pillow, before hitting play and bundling the blankets around you a little tighter

- what you didn’t expect was for the movie to be so sad and raw. you could feel tears welling up in your eyes as you watched shouko desperately try to befriend shoya, only to get rejected and harassed in response

- when the movie reached its climax, you were practically about to sob out loud. grabbing some tissues from a nearby nightstand, you blew you nose and wiped your eyes as you watched shouko attempt to commit suicide, and shoya risking his life to save her.

- “f-fuck,” you mumbled. you didn’t expect the movie to be so heart-wrenching. from shouko’s personal struggles to shoya’s change over the tears, to the pair’s blossoming relationship, it was all too much for you to handle.

- you let out a sigh of relief as the credits flashed on screen, signalling the end of the movie. and at the same time, you heard the door click, and sakusa’s voice rang out through the house. “y/n, i’m home.”

- when sakusa walks into your shared bedroom, he momentarily stops to process what he’s seeing. you’re on the bed, still bundled within a bunch of blankets and pillows, with a box of tissues next to you. your eyes are swollen and red, and you’re still sniffing your nose.

- “y/n, what happened? are you okay?” sakusa cautiously walked towards you, before sitting down on the bed and slowly pulling you into a hug

- this came as a surprise to you, considering how much of a mess you were right now. you didn’t expect him to touch, much less hug you while you were all snotty and teary

- furiously rubbing away your tears, you shook your head quickly. “omi, it’s nothing, i just— i finished t-this movie and i— ”

- before you could even finish your sentence, you could feel yourself tear up again, and you pull yourself away from sakusa, not wanting to get your tears all over his shirt

- sakusa on the other hand, deadpanned. you were crying because of what? how should he comfort you? why were you sad over an anime film?

- he shook these questions to a side, before tugging you back on his lap, and gently stroking your cheek with his fingers

- “omi, i’m sorry, i know it’s so stupid of me to get worked up over something like this but—“

- “no, it’s okay,” he cut you off, “would you like to talk to me about it?”

- you shook your head, not wanting to bother sakusa with such unimportant concerns

- “alright then,” sakusa murmurs, pulling your body close once again. “but next time, invite me to watch these with you. that way, you won’t have to cry alone.”
