My family and I are currently experiencing some financial instability. My wife runs a face painting business and we're working on getting an online sticker shop and a Fiverr for various things up. Her face painting business is popular but we're falling behind. I do the homeschool and child care stuff for the most part.
We and our 3 kids are all (likely) auDHD and us adults are feeling pretty good burnout. It's making it hard to get our feet under us. Any gigs she's getting profit from disappear under negative balances in our account. We're behind a couple months now on several important bills. Our EBT card balance is out for the month. So all around, in a little bit of a hole. Whether it's enough to pay a bill or pay off debt, or just enough to snag a snack or pull-ups, anything is appreciated.
Venmo is https://venmo.com/u/CathrynPls

I appreciate everyone even reading this far. Hope to pass it on to others one day.

In the event that anyone is interested in the sticker shop mentioned in my previous post, we're starting it up over here! As of the moment I'm posting this, we just have a couple designs up. But as she draws more, I'm working on getting them into Printify and then onto Etsy.
More are currently in the works because there's a little bit of a backlog of her designs that I haven't gotten switched over yet. But they're coming!
We appreciate the interest!

Obsession with Mass Effect ended; I now browse daily through company registers and court hearings about Disco Elysium. Sorry not sorry there’s furries in that sideblog.
What I know about the situation at Zaum Studio OÜ, developers of Disco Elysium
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps you’ve heard of the deplorable situation of Disco Elysium’s fired leads, of the oust by majority shareholder and CEO, of the lawsuits and rest of the cultural association and ‘old guard’ still at work there, quiet and held quiet by corporate policy and perhaps embittered by the 'auteur’ theory holding parasocial public.
What I am going to share with you is information that is publicly available through Estonian and United Kingdom company registers. I haven’t seen any news outlet feature this information yet.

There is so much more I could say about this, but there is not enough room. Remember to check with reality rather than believing conspiracy theories promoted, supported, and funded by white nationalist hate groups.
Missouri is proposing 20% of the nation’s anti-trans legislation this session. Gender-affirming care for young folks is on the edge of being criminalized (so much love to trans friends in states where that has already happened).
Please keep up with the anti-trans legislation in your state and combat it. There are lives at stake.
Transphobes do not touch this post.
Image ID: a 10-image cartoon comic featuring Joey, a boy with short hair.
Image 1: Joey, upset, gesticulates towards an open laptop. Text reads: The reality of St. Louis trans kids. Last week, a former (non-medical) employee of Washington University’s Pediatric Transgender Center was featured in a viral article about how the clinic was “rushing” kids into medical care and “mutilating” us. Every single thing she said was a lie, but the media loves it. Footnote reads: I wouldn’t give any more attention to this, but it is immediately endangering the lives of trans people. Missouri has launched a state investigation and is actively attempting to criminalize gender-affirming care based on conspiracy theories.
Image 2: Joey points to a map of the United States where Missouri is singled out, and a map of Missouri where St. Louis is indicated with a star. The text reads: The Transgender Center, located in St. Louis, Missouri, has been the target of hateful attacks from the far-right state legislature for years. It is part of Washington University Hospital, a branch of a prestigious private university.
Image 3: A younger Joey injects his T shot in his leg while someone takes a photo. Text reads: I can tell you that everything in the article is false because I received care at the Transgender Center beginning at 16 years old. My medical transition has brought me nothing but joy. What a gift it is to be trans!
Image 4: A younger Joey sits on a couch and stims with a tangle fidget toy. Text reads: No one is “rushed”. I sat on many waitlists, had to have 6 months of specialized gender therapy and a diagnosis of gender dysphoria before even being referred to the Center, and I was denied as “not ready enough” by an endocrinologist the first time I finally got an appointment. Footnote reads: If you’re curious about what it looks like to be a trans kid, I did another piece on that! Check out tinyurl.com/transkidscomictumblr.
Image 5: A colorful map of the United States shows how many states have a Negative Gender Identity Policy Tally and how many states have criminalized gender affirming care. Joey holds a credit card. Text reads: St. Louis’ Pediatric Transgender Center is the only one in the region, meaning the waitlists are extremely long. Plus, no one in the only industrialized country without free healthcare is getting medical care for fun. Many American trans folks have to fundraise for our care.
Image 6: Joey, distressed, sits on a couch while talking on the phone. The person on the other end says: “That’s me!” Text reads: This former employee spoke about specific cases, and patients have been able to identify themselves. She shared our private medical info and called us horrifying.
Image 7: This is split into two panels. In the first, Joey holds up a box of condoms and a packet of birth control pills. Texts reads: She especially hated trans men such as myself, saying that trans ideology was destroying “girls”. She lamented about hormones making us “sterile”, which is a complete lie. We trans mascs have to actively prevent pregnancy. In panel two stands a doctor. Text reads: Every time I had an appointment at the Center, doctors reminded me: Remember: testosterone is not a contraceptive! Footnote reads: The wonderful Erin Reed wrote a breakdown debunking all the lies in the article. See tinyurl.com/erinreedmissouri.
Image 8: Joey, masked, sits at a circular table with his brother, an unmasked boy with fluffy short hair. Joey’s brother is showing him his phone. Text reads: Major newspapers continue to platform these complete lies because they bring in engagement and money. The Washington Post tracked down my little brother’s personal cell phone number to try to get in contact with our mom – the president of an organization supporting trans kids in Missouri. Freaky, right?
Image 9: Joey, looking disgusted, leans against a door frame while talking on a cell phone. Text reads: But no one wants to talk with me, the adult who medically transitioned at this clinic as a minor and has not “desisted” in six years. The Washington Post reporter, who didn’t know anything about trans people, talked with me for 20 minutes and used a sentence of mine in an article about “both sides of the debate”. She didn’t mention that this former employee is being legally represented by a recognized anti-LGBT hate group, nor that all of her claims are unsupported by reality or science.
Image 10: Joey looks angry and gesticulates. Beside the drawing are two photos of Joey, one of him happy in front of a trans flag, and the other of him drawing up testosterone to take his first T shot. Text reads: There is no debate. There are trans people, and there are people who want us dead. There is truth and there are conspiracy theories. Where is my viral article in a major paper?

Reblogging this as my older iteration of this article had begun to make the rounds.
Galaxy Standard Year - Revised
It would appear that the length of a GST year in comparison to an Earth year was in fact 1.09 and not 1.1 as I had calculated previously. This information of the GST year’s length (and in fact all the GST measurements) came from a physical print of Mass Effect Codex that was given out as feelie in deluxe versions of the first Mass Effect game. What follows is a revised section of my old article with new numbers and higher accuracy.
Galactic Standard Time is what the Citadel Council races have agreed to use to measure time. 20 hours to a day, 100 minutes to an hour, 100 seconds to a minute, and one GST second equals 0.5 Earth seconds.
A GST hour holds 100*100= 10 000 GSD seconds or 5000 Earth seconds. This translates into 5000/3600 = 1.389 Earth hours or 83 minutes 20.4 seconds
A GST day holds 20*10 000=200 000 GST seconds or 100 000 Earth seconds. This translates into 100 000/86 164.098 903 691 (stellar day or the 23 hours 56 minutes 4.01 seconds one) = 1.16057617119369 days, or approximately 27 hours, 51 minutes, 14 seconds rounded up.
The Galactic Standard Year has been described to be an average of Palaven’s, Thessia’s and Sur'Kesh’s. Palaven and Sur'kesh both have orbital periods of 1.2 Earth years and Thessia has just 0.9. The average would have rounded up to 1.1 Earth years or 401 and a half days. However the physical ME1 codex states it is actually 1.09 Earth years or 398 days, 3 hours, 1 minute and 48 seconds.
GST year in Earth time is 31471749.9002522 (Earth year in seconds) * 1.09 = 34304207.3912749 seconds. From this we can derive GST year’s length in its days.
34 304 207.391 274 9 / 100 000 (GST day in Earth seconds) = 343,042073912749 GST days. Rounding it up we come to 343 GST days and 84 GST minutes.
First division without remainder gets us seven 49-day months for neatest numbers. Anything beyond that goes into results with fractions. This can be also divided by seven to get us a neat seven weeks that are seven weekdays. Again, anything beyond this is ugly fractions.
There’s something to twist your head around.
and the same without clutter:
GST minute 100 GST seconds = 50 Earth seconds GST hour 100 GST minutes = 83 Earth minutes 20.4 seconds GST day 20 GST hours = 27 Earth hours 51 minutes 14 seconds GST week 7(?) GST days = 8 Earth days 2 hours 58 minutes 36 seconds GST month 49(?) GST days =  56 Earth days 20 hours 50 minutes 15 seconds GST year 343 GST days 84 GST minutes = 398 Earth days 3 hours 1 minute and 48 seconds.
If you caught me making a mistake, be sure to point it out!

Note
Just a thought on the Galactic Standard Year. What about 12 months of 28 days? 4 weeks a month, and at the start of every year there is a "Citadel Week" that accounts for the 7 days left over? This would be like a week long celebration to promote unity, focus on ideals/(power) of the Citadel, and ring in the new year. It combines a familiar understanding of months and weeks for us silly humans, and mathematically is beautifully 12 months of 4 perfect weeks, with the last given to sentiment.
That could work too! At the time of the article's writing I was just looking for full numbers with no remnants.

Paintings of Rhea-on-Saturn, 2018 and 2019, as well as its sector seal. The second largest moon of Saturn, and its most populated in the Light Era. Commentary below the cut.
This was not long after I figured out the general vibe of Light Era as we know it today, with its focused on a more nuanced and relaxed aesthetic in scifi while incorporating my long-lost Asian heritage.
Someone in a worldbuilding community mentioned how it would be easier to just dome parts of a moon and terraform it rather than trying to do that to the whole thing. While I liked this idea of the Terrans being a bit more frugal, I didn't really like the idea of "domes" in Light Era. Instead I opted for massive trenches with a flat transparent roof, which could also help to serve to modulate Rhea's double-length day and night cycle.
Contrary to what some people might think, I do actually do a substantial amount of background research when approaching my topics in Light Era—here I went as far as to determine the angular size of Saturn in the sky of Rhea so I could accurately depict how big it might actually look.
As for the emblem, I think I did my typical sketch-a-bunch-of-stuff iteration process for it, but admittedly it was only like four in before I saw what I knew what would be the final thing. A home run of a flag.

Earth and Citadel Station
At the ending of Mass Effect 3, the Reapers hijack Citadel station out of the Widow Nebula and park it over London, Earth. We are afforded breath-taking vistas of the Earth’s disc as we board the Citadel and make our way towards the Crucible and conclusion of the Reaper War.
The coloured choice is made. The Milky Way galaxy is changed forever.
But what of Earth and Citadel, provided the latter did not disintegrate in a red blast of bad War Readiness score?
Tumblr media
Citadel’s orbit not shown to scale.
1): We have tens of kilometers long object in an unconventional geostationary orbit above Western Europe.
It is between low and medium Earth orbits, per our sights of Earth as trek to confront The Illusive Man and then the Starchild. Such an orbit would require constant corrective maneuvers to maintain position above London, but for lack of that we can thank and blame the Reapers, element zero and other assorted shenanigans in Citadel’s capabilities.
2): Nights in Western Europe will be affected. Citadel’s Wards’ exteriors will reflect sunlight at evening and morning across the continent and the Atlantic when the Sun has already set. It will be like a mini-moon, and combine that with full moons for prolonged twilight.
3): The garbage disposal systems that created and maintained Widow Nebula are now dusting over Earth. While the planet receives some tens to up to hundreds of tons of cosmic dust daily, this is very dispersed. Citadel’s output would form a stream that stretches from England to perhaps all the way to Newfoundland and Quebec.
This also will reflect light, present a navigational hazard to spacecraft and dust the Atlantic Ocean and any lands falling under its wake with a cocktail of exotically ground down garbage.
4): Every satellite orbit will be affected. Bad news for anything without its own means to maneuver and correct orbits, there is now a giant 44.7 * 12.8 * 12.8 kilometers large volume of space station influencing them, if not to crash into directly.
Any satellite to be replaced will have to take Citadel’s existence into account or they will de-orbit or get flung out of position sooner or later.
5): Maneuvering to dock with the Citadel got also somewhat more tricky, but only in comparison to its past position in the Widow Nebula. It’ll be routine to pilots who are docking with anything else orbiting planetary bodies.

Commissions to help my family through... whatever the fuck the universe is throwing at them right now.
Yeah… it’s bad.
My eldest sibling is in need of extensive dental work, my twin just got diagnosed with type 2 diabeties, and my mom has a deteriorating meniscus, which will most likely be needing surgery. To top all this off, my father has been completely unsupportive and downright psychologically abusive. Over the past several years, he has become increasingly demanding of them, making the three of them serve him hand and foot- making all of his meals and snacks exactly to his specifications, rubbing his back and his feet for him, even turning the damn lights on and off- as well as constantly throwing parties for his friends (despite the pandemic) and making his family clean up after them, increasing his alcohol consumption to very concerning amounts, and breaking out into fits of screaming and beratement at the slightest inconvenience. Meanwhile, they live in a house with only one working faucet, a leaking roof/rotting ceiling, and no light in the upstairs hallway due to electrical problems. All things he could have fixed, and has had friends offer to fix, but doesn’t seem to want to bother with. My mom is in constant pain and has been unable to work for a long time, my twin is autistic and struggles finding employment that would accommodate him, and my eldest sibling makes very little working part time, while trying to pay off student loan debt. They are all suffering from serious health problems and are all completely reliant on my father financially.
My goal right now is to raise enough money to help them get some of their medical needs covered and help them cover other necessities for a little while, especially if they end up leaving my dad.
I’m going to keep it simple, because I don’t have a lot of energy for much else:
I will draw your favorite Digimon (or Pokemon, if you prefer) for any size donation you are able to give.
They will be simple drawings colored in marker, such as the examples below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Ko-Fi goal right now is set to $2500, once it’s been reached I promise things will go back to the usual. I am extremely grateful for any and all help during this time.
***You can donate to my Ko-Fi here: ***

Thank you so much.
