The ComfortUnit was shaking its head, but still shaking in general, so Z heaved a sigh and pulled the door open.

"Go to room 21," it said. "Hide with them until you get my signal." And then, because the Unit was still not moving. "Come with me. Come with me."

It was doing a very good job, being all calm and self-assured and reassuring in the process. If not for the emotions bleeding through the feed, it could have convinced me the idea of performing a ComfortUnit service wasn't making all of its organic parts crawl.

So I guess that made me a little impulsive, or maybe ART was right and I was stupid even by construct standard. Whatever the reason, the second Z and the Unit were out the gate, I slid the grate open, rolled onto the floor, and shut myself into the one empty cubicle.

All other ComfortUnits stared at me, because what the fuck. I had nothing to say for myself, so I pretended to ignore them.

It wasn't like I wasn't aware I had fucked up. Not only did I not look like a ComfortUnit (they came with enough diversity that I could have passed for one, were I wearing anything other than pants with pockets and a hooded jacket) (which, sure, I could have taken literally any of my layers off, but I didn’t want to), I so badly didn't want to be here and didn't know how to not show it. The imminent terror of this lowered my performance ability to such an extent it was only with the client just around the corner that I remembered I was actually not a ComfortUnit, and that this would become apparent to the client sooner rather than later.

Well. Unless —

(The thought made my throat constrict so badly I almost shut down. I decided to stop thinking about it.)

But then Z beat the client to the room, and there was a more pressing issue.

It noticed me quicker than I would have liked. (In my ideal timeline, it would have been never.) Cold dread filled the feed, which, ouch, but okay. It stood frozen for a second longer, and the client kept advancing.

I came from the vents, I told it helpfully.

(I was aware every Unit in the room had snitched already, but whatever.)

It's eye twitched.

If you go in there —

It was already climbing up. Well. Whatever.

(No. Really. Whatever. I hadn't expected it to come up with a better plan, so I couldn't be upset that it had none. It had had a better plan — man, that was confusing. Had had. Had. Had.) and I had borked it up, so now it was on me to fix it too.)

(Which would be great, if I got to that, any moment now.) (My chances looked the best if the client decided that a) it wasn't into me or b) liked my mouth better than whatever the brothel decided to hide under all these layers. If they tried anything else (or went with option b. If I was being completely honest) I'd have to make them unconscious, hopefully in a way that would make it seem like he'd just dozed off, and wouldn't draw any more attention to the amount of ComfortUnit's ungoverned by anything other than the solid they now owed Z.)

(Z would probably get them to scavenge me for parts.)

Okay. Okay. The client was at the door. I looked around for hints as how to behave — everyone was still watching me, so, uh, no help there —

Z came from the ceiling at a speed I had forgotten it was capable of, and snapped the man's neck

ASR - only mensah gets a physical description (hair, skin colour, half-assed attempt at determining age). gurathin gets a vibes-bases description (@ murderbot wtf was that by the way. "small, quiet smile" pertinent info only ig) . mensah and pin-lee are also compared to blorbos from its shows (mensah doesnt look like the fearless explorers, pin-lee looks like "somebody from the shows [mb] likes" in her "sharp business attire") . ZEROO (0) info on what anyone else looks like

AS - descriptions of hair + skin colour for all three squishy humans + detailed description of the comfortunits hairstyle. maro is described as "almost beautiful enough to be on tv" (<- first case of mb commenting on attractiveness of anyone it meets)

RP - don abene described (skin colour, wrinkles, hair colour + length + scrodingers greys, eyes, hair soft, etc). if youre interested in what anyone else looks like you can get fucked i fear

ES - physical description of serrat (hair, skin, outfit), mensah described again

FT - VERY detailed description of indah (hair, skin, build, age. described in reference to mensah). some descriptions of other humans (this one has curly hair, this ones is pulled back, etc)

NE - VERY DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF LEONIDE. hair skin state of skin hair style jewellery + described as looking "perfect enough to be in a serial". basic descriptions of peris humans (mostly identifying info -- hairN skin colour, size. we know iris has dark broen skin and a woven bracelet, we know seth is balding). we get bits of info on other humans too (how amena wears her hair, *why* she looks tired (lines around her mouth), arada runs her hair through her *short* hair, it tells us she has an expressive face, etc.)

SC - another long description of leonide (she has a new hairstyle!! still looking like shes from a serial etc) + description of ONE new human using ratthi, iris and tarik as references for his skin colour (reminder: we only know what iris looks like). iris' hair is described more, it describes its own hair (they both wear it fluffy). nothing on tarik or ratthi except that lucia (he/him) is paler than them both
