most recent windows 11 update is wiping SSDs

there's been multiple reports of people's computers not booting properly after the windows 11 24H2 KB5063878 update due to it essentially wiping the hard drives (specifically SSDs) on computers and laptops. users have reported their SSDs aren't able to be read/recognized and unable to be seen in bios settings either.

it's safe to assume all SSDs can be potentially affected by this update, so if you haven't updated yet turn off autoupdates

the bug caused by this update is seemingly triggered by installing/moving/deleting large files (50+ gb), which as simmers is what a lot of us do very pften

if you're unsure what windows version you currently have:

go to settings > system > about (at they very bottom) > and scroll down to see the current OS version

if you do currently have windows 11 24H2:

in settings, click 'Windows update' > 'Update history' > and under 'Quality Updates' check to see if the KB5063878 update is in the list of recently installed updates

don't panic, you can uninstall this update!

while in 'Update History', scroll to the very bottom and click 'Uninstall updates', and click 'Uninstall' for 'Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5063878)'

from there, give it some time to remove the update and after pause updates for as long as possible (5 weeks is the longest i think), but it will force an update if there's a big/official update for the fix

if you've already been affected and your computer is not starting or giving errors regarding your hard drive, i recommend visiting small pc repair shops to try data recovery as some have reported placing their SSD in an enclosure seems to work to recover the data

hopefully this is helpful is any kind of way! friendly reminder to back up your data to an external drive routinely!

does…anyone have any idea how we’re supposed to feel about StarClan from now on? mockery, extreme thought control, and physical torture to the point of miscarriage are genuinely some of the gentler ways they treat StormClan…before they’ve even done anything objectively wrong. StormClan fails because they’re brutally punished and pushed to fail by their ancestors over and over and over again. for thinking bad thoughts. i truthfully might just be stupid but it really feels like we’re supposed to read them as correct. “I should have listened, and I should have obeyed.” is almost scarier than when they actually physically tortured him

at 3am I went to take a swig from my bedside Gatorade zero, but I was too sleepy so I just held it upside down over my head and it all came out. can’t emphasize enough that I didn’t intend to do this. was still really sleepy though, so I just closed my eyes and went to sleep without changing the situation.

anyway I have woken up Gatorade wet with Gatorade hair, and it is time to start the day.

oh to be a rotating garfield plush

Before the Labubus hit the market, I had dreams about a weird vintage Garfield plushie with ceramic teeth. He didn’t seem to be a well-loved plushie, as his fur was still soft. However, one side of his face was lopsided, as though its original owner had kicked it away in fear and it never reformed quite right. He would only move when I looked away, and at one point I could not look at him directly without being blinded by static.

He actually wasn’t that bad of a guy, though. He was married to a Pillow Pet version of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Also, even though him moving when I wasn’t looking was kinda worrisome, I easily picked him up like a football and that was that.

I tried my best to recreate what he looked like here, but it’s been like. Three years since I’ve seen the guy. Weird Teeth Garfield, please come home.

I have a lot of dreams with weird guys like this often. I should probably draw some more of them at one point and bring them here

GALACTIC ABYSS: SPACE TRAGEDY UPDATE

A really good step in the right direction in finding more about Galactic Abyss Space Tragedy was just discovered by yours truly!

More screenshots have now been found of gameplay, the same three characters shown in the past are still here. We also have some interesting developments in what the game was likely like, who the main character is and the layout of the ship.

I discovered that on taptap.io, it has more information of the game, when it was "released", what platforms it's playable on, etc. Galactic Abyss: Space Tragedy is highly likely now under the assumed name of MouthWash Space Strategy Game, playable on Android.

Though you can still get results for the original title, not much information is present

Note: There are a lot of screenshots that I left out due to the fact that they're near identical with another one, just taken at a closer view.

I will also be referring to characters by nicknames, as none have confirmed names

Ship Layout Without Characters

What I find interesting is that this ship layout and the layout of these screenshots use a lot of cool colors, contrasting the harsh warm tones we see in the original Mouthwashing game and even in Mouthwash: Space Tragedy (the first mobile ripoff)

Sweater

Here's what stumps me, I'm not sure if this is the captain that I assumed they were originally when the game was first put up on the app store. The description claims that you play as the captain and round up your crew, but it's likely that the description is just a placeholder template, as it never says the name of the game (Instead saying "[Game Title]")

Whatever their status is, it's likely though that this is the character we would have been playing as in the game, as they're the one who seems to be tasked at finding the rest of the crew for the birthday

Suit

There's not much to say about Suit, although my previous assumptions of them being the one to tell the - previously assumed -protagonist that the captain wants to see them are proven wrong from these screenshots. They seem to be an average crew mate

Leather Jacket (LJ)

LJ was originally the character that I assumed to be the protagonist of the game, but it seems I was proven wrong. It looks like they're another regular crew mate. Shockingly the one with the most screenshots available

So what else is new?

It seems that one of the objectives shown here is to gather your crew for the Captain's birthday, as it was suggested in the original description of the game

We have an idea on who the protagonist likely is; proving the idea that LJ is the protagonist wrong

These are some really exciting discoveries that I accidentally stumbled upon, funnily enough. Hoping we get more info about it somehow, some way. I'm always down for whatever may come up of this game, the gameplay, writing, characters, etc.
