Have you heard of that town...?

“There are a lot of strange stories about Recondite Hill… Things you might have heard mention of slither in the dark of the quiet streets, stalking the poor unfortunates of this hamlet and some things you probably haven’t heard of stalk the outskirts of this place.  This book is a collection of stories about the strange beings that lurk on the edges of nightmares and reality in Recondite Hill.”

What?

This is a horror comic anthology set within the above mentioned bizarre town, Recondite Hill where all manner of strange things are rumored to happen. It is in essence a love letter to those weird local stories everyone hears tell of. Stories about monster sightings, unexplainable events and forbidden places. 

Where?

Where is Recondite Hill? Oh.. around the  South Western North Eastern region of the Americas. It’s up to you what the geography of the area looks like- likewise the town itself can look however you’d like too, it can be any size of settlement from tiny farm town to bustling suburbia, totally your call. 

When?

The when of the story is very much up to you as well, pre-colonization to near future is fine- we aren’t looking for hard sci-fi though so try to stay within ~5 years of this date.

Who?

For this anthology we will be focusing on stories about creatures, and by that I mean non-humanoid entities. This can be anything from slightly human shaped creatures (bipedal) to completely inhuman. What we aren’t looking for in this book are stories about human killers/stalkers, and human shaped monsters ( re: slightly altered human shapes like Sadako or Slenderman.)

Limit three submissions per applicant.

This is a comic anthology, please do not submit pitches for illustrations, prose, or poetry. 

This is a paid gig. Participants will be paid $10/per page. 

Please only submit pitches of your original creations, as much as I love creepypastas pitches about them will be automatically rejected.

Haven't been drawing much outside of commissions and schoolwork - and even that's taken a hit because of some pretty heavy stuff happening all in the span of a week and a half. Hey comic-makers!  Looking for funding or short/long term studio space to help you make your comics?  I put together a list of grants, fellowships, and residencies with an established, positive track record for accepting cartoonists!  (There are also many, many arts grants/etc. out there that have not accepted any cartoonists yet, and I absolutely encourage you to apply for those too!  But I’ll be limiting this list to ones that already have demonstrated interest in comics.)
