Part 1 of me, an art student, assigning fears to random artists you've probably never heard of: Louise Bourgeois - The Web

If Louise Bourgeois isnt an avatar of, or at least marked by, the Web i dont know who is. Most well known for her large-scale sculptures of spiders, Bourgeois has described how these sculptures were inspired by her own memories and experiences.

Just read this passage from my artist research:

Bourgeois uses the Spider, both predetor and protector, to symbolise a mother figure. The spinning and weaving of the Spider's web links to her own mother, who worked in the family's tapestry restoration busines, and often pushed Bourgeois to follow in her footsteps.

I rest my case.
