The sun hounds, successors of the Raven guard. Located in the segmentum solar the sun hounds are known for their high number of psykers and frequent run ins with the sons of Magnus, their home system hosts a space hulk tainted with warp energy that causes their homeworld to end up with more psykers than usual

A new space marine I’m working on, the silver falcons successors of the red talons (who themselves are iron hands successors) I haven’t got much lore on them yet so far but I’m working on it, I’m a big fan of the red talons so I just wanted to make something related to them

XIth Legion - The Deepwater Sentinels
Primarch: Celephaïs
Named after the dream-city from Lovecraft's works.
Also not a psyker, just an unethical scientist.
Weapon(s?) was/were from the Dark Age of Technology, gifted to him by the other inhabitants of his home world in order to slay the leviathans in the vast oceans. Consisted of four series of blade fragments linked together using electromagnetic force and controlled by sensors in a pair of gloves, the full weapon was referred to locally as Leviathan Bane and Silvered Cascadia(like the subduction zone and earthquake event) in the official Imperium documents.
Home planet of Insmuth(like Innsmouth again from Lovecraft's works) was a water world with only small island archipelagos so most of the civilization was under water. Their ancestors spliced their genes with various sea animals to give them gills and bioluminescent spots. The world would be exterminatus'd after his execution.
Was a bit of a schemer but also deceptively loud. Everything he spoke was a half truth that he said with enthusiasm when in reality things were darker than they seemed. Always had a bit of an "off" aura to the other Primarchs - especially to Ioúdas, Sanguinius, Konrad, and Magnus.
Projected the image of a charismatic leader to his brothers but in reality cared very little for his legion past their value as a pet project for his genetic experimentation.
Didn't really have friends among the Primarchs. His loyalty was usually unquestioned but his methods of demonstrating this loyalty were questionable.
Like Ioúdas, wasn't intended to have a gene flaw - his legion only exhibited mutations because he was fucking with them.
His execution and subsequent record purge were ordered out of disgust for what he'd done to his legion.
Comes back in 40k via a lot of biological and warp shenanigans. He did actually die in his execution but hid away a large cell sample prior and transferred his soul into it so that he could regenerate his body immortal jellyfish-style somewhere out of the Imperium's reach.
Currently hides out in a moon base by an uninhabited death world and periodically sends out encrypted messages to Fabius Bile. He's attempting to negotiate a deal by offering his own genecraft knowledge and leveraging a sample of his blood in exchange for the resurrection of his legion. The negotiations have gone nowhere because he's become more awful to work with after thousands of years of isolation.
Fabius currently has a single cell from Celephaïs that was used to verify his identity but isn't enough to get a full DNA sequence from.
The Deepwater Sentinels "There are no depths the Emperor's light cannot reach- No place for bathysmal tyranny in mankind's seas!"
Colours were black, white, bronze, and sea green(stained glass components only). Outside of armour, they typically wore robes dyed the colours of the sea and braided beads and tassels into their hair.
Legion flagship was the Atlantea.
Last First Captain was Taran-Ish (named after the dead priest of Sarnath in Lovecraft's works).
A legion entirely dedicated to underwater combat, they deployed both astartes for direct engagement beneath the waves and specialized amphibious aircraft for naval warfare.
They rarely worked with other legions on account of this. They also only recruited from water worlds.
Their default gene trait was just being remarkably stable, but this was used to their Primarch's advantage as prime subjects for genetic experimentation.
The First Captains weren't chosen for competency, they were chosen for compatibility with whatever gene samples Celephaïs was working on at the time.
The actual legion leadership structure was entirely based on other company captains while the first company was kept small as a sort of imitation of an elite guard.
The entire first company was known for incredible strength and dexterity but obscured their faces at all times due to the extensive genetic alterations.
The Astartes of the legion were feverishly devoted to Celephaïs due to him essentially being considered a figure of modern legend on Insmuth. He promised them strength with only a few injections + gene therapy and they believed it wholeheartedly.
The few defectors and dissenters that existed would mysteriously disappear within the week after speaking out or deserting. The gene seeds within them would end up being destroyed or used for separate tests.
Astartes of the legion didn't participate in the inter-legion exchange programs.
Their conditions were only discovered until a few Astartes were seen and subsequently reported by the apothecaries of other legions during the Rangdan Xenocides.
Ended up being purged due to their mutations making them unsuitable for legion transfers. The inflation in Ultramarine numbers after the purge was entirely coincidental.
