Seamer Stream on 9/24!!
I’m ready to host another Seamer-drawing livestream and this time I’m remembering to announce it on the blog!
The stream will be on Sunday, September 24th at 3pm EST and hosted on the SkyJam Youtube channel!
I’ve got a whole bunch of submissions I’ll be drawing on stream, but you’re welcome to keep submitting designs until the stream- Anything submitted before the stream starts is eligible to be drawn live!
Additionally, there are two Seamers in particular I’m looking for at the moment- Toxic-type evolves for these two:
Ideally I’ll be drawing these two on stream, if people submit designs for them. I guess we’ll see what people come up with between now and then!

We Need Type Effectivities!
Surprise Update! I’ve realized that we have no strengths and weaknesses for the many Seamer types, so I think it’s time to handle that! ...It probably should’ve been done in the past!
Anyone is welcome to fill out a whole chart or suggest specific weaknesses using the format below:
Submit as many or as few as you’d like! Anything submitted along with an explanation of your reasoning will be considered more so than without.
I should mention that Neutral, as its name implies, will not have any strengths or weaknesses!
Please let me know if you have any questions! The time limit on this is until the next time I stream Seamers, which itself is based on how many submissions you send in! (You’re more than welcome to keep submitting designs even while this type challenge is going on!)

SDCP 2.0 Update
(Part Five)
Sorry for the delay on this one, everyone, but this is a bit of a big update! Today we’ll be going over all remaining lines currently planned for the SDCP:
Hefty Mammals
Bears
Seals
Spooks
Ancients
Paper Dragons
Cephalopods
Aliens
I’ve decided to cover all the remaining lines in this one post because several of them are empty or have not formed any solid structure yet. The SDCP is constantly changing, and several of the lines we’ve already covered in the past have been reorganized beyond recognition. There’s also still a chance other lines could be added if some fantastic idea strikes?
For now though, lets get into these!
As always, any open spot is free for you to submit designs for!
Hefty Mammals, Bears and Seals
So these are three distinct lines with one thing in common- All of them are technically empty right now!! I might end up cutting some or most of these, or I may combine the ‘Seals’ and ‘Hefty Mammals’ lines, but as of right now I’m not sure! They all involve some ideas I’d like to see happen. Their layouts are just general ideas right now too, not at all set in stone. If you have an idea for one of these, please let me know!!
Spooks
On the other end of the spectrum, this line is nearly done and is also the largest tree in the dex! I realize having a succubus may seem a little inappropriate for my style but the idea of it being Love/Combat is too good to pass up! I’m looking for a family-friendly succubus design, as odd as that sounds. Unfortunately Feyursa may need to be cut if Wizards of the Coast owns the rights to ‘Owlbears’ as a concept. I need to look into that.
Ancients
This is actually my favorite line at the moment! Monkeys and Robots and Colossi- What’s not to love? There’s a lot to be filled in though, but I’m excited to keep working on it and to see what you come up with too! I think most of these are pretty self explanatory, except for “Gamemon”, which is an old Seamer I designed in 6th grade for a Digimon inspired comic I made with my friends. I’ll take care of redesigning it for the Dex, so leave it to me! The rest here are fair game, though!
Paper Dragon
Based solely on the Chinese New Year Dragons, this line is very small and almost done!! Maybe this is the closest we’ll get to a legendary?
Cephalopods
This is a line a lot of people have an interest in from what I can tell, and finally I’m going over it here on the dex! I think I want to end up with only six Seamers on this line, so I guess we’ll see what ends up being cut based on the designs that are submitted? There’s not a lot else to say about this one, except that the Moon Jelly might actually end up taking that Baby spot!
Aliens
This is another tree that might get jumbled around a bit. The Kandinsky Seamer (which will be based on my favorite artist) might actually jump down a few rows to only evolve from the baby and not evolve further. The Sun and Moon seamers aren’t even attached to the tree yet! There’s some work to be done here, but that gives you all quite a bit of freedom with your designs for this one!
Alright, that’s it for Part 5 of the SDCP 2.0 update!
-And the SDCP 2.0 update as a whole!
We’ve now covered every line currently intended for the dex. Some Seamers might seem like they’re missing, but that almost certainly means they’ve been added to a line I’ve already covered after I covered it! (For example, Icikell is now a member of the same line as Bubbley!) Some other Seamers, such as Lexitext, require certain conditions to be met to evolve into them and so they don’t fit into any one line! I’ll go over those “Bizarre Condition” Seamers more another time.
What’s next, you ask? Well I have some things I’m considering, (Such as returning to the bi-weekly challenge format,) but I’m not certain yet, so I’ll announce what the next step is after the next Seamer Stream!
Like last time, I’ll announce and hold the Seamer Stream once I think I have enough submissions I want to draw in it! I’m thinking around 10 again, that worked well last time.
I’m sorry this update took so long to come out! I wanna keep saying more but already this should’ve gone up weeks ago. I’m just going to post it now!!
Come submit your designs and talk Seamers with other designers over on the Hetrea Discord Server!

SDCP 2.0 Update
(Part Four)
Alright! Here comes the fourth part of our 2.0 Update! Today, we’ll be looking at the following evolutionary trees:
Fungi
Reptiles
Produce
Shellfish
Arachnids
So, we’re reaching into the second half of the evolutionary trees with this line, and that means we’re going to have a lot more wiggle room in terms of how they’ll end up, as we have so few of these Seamers finished that it’s tough to predict what the final lines will look like yet! Many of these are just ideas. Let’s get into it!
As with last time, any open spot is free for you to submit designs for!
Fungi
This line is actually a fair bit along, and has room to expand beyond what we see here! There are so MANY unique and interesting Mushrooms, and a whole variety of ways they can be designed into creatures!
Reptiles
This is another chunky one! I think it’s mostly straight forward though. The ‘Charmed Snake’ on the far right is one that I’d like to have be part-music type, and overall I think there needs to be more crossover in term of who becomes what on the top row. That being said, we’ve made good progress on this one!
Produce
So yes, this one is technically fruit AND vegetables, but just calling it ‘Food’ seemed... grim. This and many of the following lines are where things get less... set in stone, so to speak? This line can easily be reshaped in a variety of ways. I don’t expect the final line to be shaped the same way this one is!
Shellfish
Crabgrass and Lobsturf have been on and off this line over and over again for what feels like forever, but I think this one’s settled down for the time being. The shrimp can and may be dropped, unless I get a stellar design for it!
‘Casacrab’ refers to a crab with castanet claws! It’s spelled incorrectly in the chart because I just looked up how to spell that word right now as I’m typing this! Oops. It’ll be part Music type!
Arachnids
I don’t like looking at spiders! They’ve somehow managed to form their own line though, as I didn’t want the other bug lines getting too wide! Our little friend Mapile finds its home on this line, as well.
The unfinished spots on this line are mostly me guessing what COULD be, but similarly to the shellfish line above, some ideas may be dropped! That one Daddy Long Legs below the Tarantula spot is Bug/Electric, if that helps to know!
Alright, that’s it for Part 4 of the SDCP 2.0 update!
As with last time, your challenge is to design any of the missing Seamers from these lines, or any of the lines we covered last week! We’ve had a couple of good Seamer streams a few weeks in a row now!
Here’s the plan for the next Seamer stream:
The next SDCP LiveStream’s date and time will be announced once I’ve collected 10 designs I’d like to draw on the stream!
That’s right! For the next stream, I’d like to have the Seamers I’m drawing pre-determined. While I LOVE receiving Seamer submissions mid-stream, I find it a little awkward to decide whether I’ll be using them or not live for everyone to see. By collecting the designs before each stream, I can always use Seamers submitted during a stream in the next one!
Once I’ve decided on 10 designs, I’ll announce the next stream here, and on the discord server! : )
The ‘dex’ page is being updated to list these lines shortly after this post goes live!
As with last time, you can come submit your designs and talk Seamers with other designers over on the Hetrea Discord Server!

are gell and goo and etc........... seamers? cause on the water (previously slime) tree.......................................................... hoo boy, here comes some theorizing.............................
Ooh okay! So this is something I’ve addressed over a number of streams but it’ll be good to put it down in writing! For those of you who don’t know, Gell and goo are both characters in my webcomic, DotX.
This answer gets a little more complicated than you might expect, so continue on for a bit of a lore dump!
Now, I often refer to Hetrea as the world on which all my stories take place, but the one exception is Seamers, and there’s an important reason why Seamers can’t exist on the same planet Hetrea as DotX / Revolving Light / The Heartless Princess / etc!
That reason is humans! On Hetrea, humans can be very powerful mages, the most powerful of which can shape aspects of the planet to their will! Humans also age via life experience as opposed to time, and their bodies do not degrade as they get older, making them somewhat immortal, unless killed.
In the Seamer World however, humans are just humans. The way they are on Earth. They’re born, they grow, they die. If humans were as powerful in the Seamer world as they are on Hetrea, Seamers would no longer be in the spotlight! Seamers NEED to exist alongside unremarkable humans, and so they have their own world to themselves.
If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy or Fire Emblem, you’re familiar with the idea of a franchise where each entry in the series has an entirely new world and characters, but retains some recurring themes and elements. Final fantasy games will always have Chocobos and Ifrit, and the ‘Fire Emblem’ itself shows up in each FE game in some new form.
Hetrea works in the same way, between the Seamer Hetrea, and the Hetrea everything else takes place on! One of these recurring elements is Gell’s species, which appears in both versions of the world! So to answer your question, Gell herself isn’t a Seamer as they don’t exist in the same world... But at the same time, yes, that IS technically her species!
Did I explain that well?

SDCP 2.0 Update
(Part Three)
Here we are again with the third part of our 2.0 Update! Today, we’ll be looking at the following evolutionary trees:
Freshwater Fish
Minerals
Hoofed
Water
Amphibians
As a side note, some of the trees from last time have been updated and changed slightly, but that’s something we’ll get back to once we’re done introducing all the lines! Let’s get into these!
As with last time, any open spot is free for you to submit designs for!
Freshwater Fish
So uh, I don’t know a lot about fish, yet. Because of that, this line is a little... Barren. That being said, it gives you a TON of freedom in terms of what you can submit for this one!
Here’s the wikipedia page for Freshwater Fish, which is a good starting place for finding a species to base a Seamer off of!
Minerals
So right off the bat I’ll say that the ‘Psychic Gem’ in the center is going to be a redesign of ‘Fuorsite’, though I’m not sure what direction to take that in yet. The ‘Gemstone’ slots can be any gems, so you’ve got quite a bit of freedom in terms of what you can design a Seamer around- I’m sure different gems lend themselves to different types quite well! There’s not much in this tree, so the actual shape of it is subject to change as well- This is just a rough draft.
You might’ve noticed that the tree trails off to the right from the baby, and that’s because there’s a line of Seamers off to the side there that I’m not quite ready to reveal yet!
Hoofed
So as you may know our trio of deer were designed before we switched over to this more web-based system of evolution, and this line was built around them somewhat. I’m unsure of exactly what to do with horses / unicorns / pegusi / zebras so that section’s kinda just a block right now. What do you think that branch of the tree should be like?
I’m not married to anything on this tree yet, so if you have any ideas as to how we can change it, let me hear it!
Water
I originally had this line labelled as ‘Slimes’ but the main Seamer here is Bubbley who is distinctly not a slime, so I’ve gone with ‘Water’ instead! This line is overall pretty straightforward, I think! (I know this is one a lot of people have been looking forward to seeing, too!)
Oilurk needs to be redesigned to be a bit more complex, but otherwise this line is MOSTLY done! A stark contrast to our next line...
Amphibians
You might notice that there are no finished Seamers here, and that’s very unfortunate! Somehow we’ve avoided drawing ANY sort of frogs so far, and that needs to change! What I’ve listed above are my general ideas for the Amphibian Seamers but really everything is a free-for-all with this line as things stand. Frogs are fun to draw, too! Let’s get on this!
Alright, that’s it for Part 3 of the SDCP 2.0 update!
As with last time, your challenge is to design any of the missing Seamers from these lines, or any of the lines we covered last week! The last stream was a HUGE success and I’m excited to see what more designs are submitted this time!
Speaking of Seamer streams…
The next SDCP LiveStream will be on Sunday the 25th at 3pm EST!
I’ll be drawing more Seamers and organizing more charts, and I hope to see you all there! Let’s try to beat last stream’s high-score of 8 Seamers drawn! ^_^
The ‘dex’ page is being updated to list these lines shortly after this post goes live!
As with last time, you can come submit your designs and talk Seamers with other designers over on the Hetrea Discord Server:

SDCP 2.0 Update
(Part Two)
So following the first Seamer Live stream, we’ve officially organized the Plant Seamers into three distinct family trees! Today, we’ll be looking at the following evolutionary trees:
Trees
Middle Bugs
Flowers
Pets
Middle Birds
Keep in mind that not all the trees from part one of this update are complete yet! You’re still welcome to submit designs for them! On that note, let’s get started!
As with last time, any open spot is free for you to submit designs for!
Trees
This is one of the three ‘Plant’ charts that were created by splitting up the huge ‘Plant’ section from part one. Please note that Lobrok, up in the top left, has a hollow square on the tree, signifying that this is not it’s home tree, it just happens to evolve from Lobsturf.
Lobrok aside, there are 9 Seamers in this tree-themed tree, three of which are finished! I’ve recieved a few designs for the acorn already, as well as having a design of my own in mind.
Middle Bugs
So this is a big one! I’m honestly considering moving some of these bugs onto the third bug line, but for now this stands. A good chunk of these are done, but notably missing are any of the four spider slots!
We’ll be discussing how to split this bug line in the next Seamer Stream, which I’ll announce at the end of this post. If you know of any other interesting bugs you’d like to see a Seamer of, let me know!
Flowers
The second of the three plant lines! Very little is done here, so there’s a lot of freedom with what these designs might look like. I’m on the fence about Which flowers evolve into which, and the Cherry Blossom Seamer could easily end up being very small, evolving from the baby!
Submit designs for this one regardless of what they evolve into/from for the time being, this tree has a lot of wiggle room still! Other flowers not listed here are welcome as well, I could easily fit another three Seamers onto this line if I get fitting designs!
Pets
So here’s the biggest line so far! There are a lot of Seamers to be made here, and I think many of them will be pretty popular, as the four already on here have proven to be! I’m excited to see what you come up with for these! Leonix was on this line but needs to be redesigned dramatically to fit better.
‘Kitpup’ refers to a baby animal of ambiguous origin, such as Eevee not being any one animal clearly.
Middle Birds
Many of these Seamers should be familiar as they’re in the dex already, though most of them received slight redesigns since you last saw them!
I’d like for the ‘Chicken’ branch of this line to be mostly Electric-type, and you may remember that the Parrot on this line ALSO evolves from the hummingbird from the Early Bird tree! I’m thinking the Parrot will be Air/Music, if that gives you any ideas.
Alright, that’s it for Part 2 of the SDCP 2.0 update!
As with last time, your challenge is to design any of the missing Seamers from these lines, or any of the lines we covered last week!
This’d be a good time for me to announce the next Seamer Stream, as well...
The next SDCP LiveStream will be on Sunday the 11th at 3pm EST!
I’ll be drawing more Seamers and organizing more charts, and I hope to see you all there! ^_^
Edit: I almost forgot to mention! I’ve made a Discord server for all of my projects, including the SDCP! Come join in to talk Seamers with others- and you can submit designs very easily there! Here’s the link:

Seamer Livestream 1 Results!
Thank you to everyone who joined me for the first Seamer-exclusive livestream!
If you missed it, the entire 4 hour stream is archived right here!
Four Seamers were drawn during the stream, (Pictured above), and several Seamer Trees were organized, which will be posted shortly in the next part of the SDCP 2.0 update!
I’m not going to add these Seamers to the dex just yet- I’ve decided to hold off on making any individual Seamer posts until an evolutionary tree is finished, at which point I’ll post all the Seamers in that tree!
Stay tuned for Part 2 of the SDCP 2.0 update later today!

SDCP 2.0 UPDATE
(Part one)
So! Here we are! I’ve decided to break the 2.0 Update into seperate parts, as detailing EVERY evolutionary tree in one post would be far too much information all at once. Today, we’re going to be looking at the first five trees in the dex, which are the following:
Starters
Early Birds
Early Bugs
Rodents
Early Plants
Birds, Bugs and Plants fill more than one evolutionary tree each, so they’ve been split into categories such as Early Bug, Middle Bug and Late Bug, etc. The use of the words ‘Early, Middle and Late’ refer to when these trees would be encountered in the Seamer Game. The Early lines we’re looking at today are also simpler, and smaller in size. Let’s get started!
The Starter Line
Now this is a line that you’re likely to be familiar with if you’ve been following the SDCP for a while! Thus, it’s a perfect example of how the new Evolutionary Tree Charts look and are read!
As you can see, only one space is empty here, (the lighter blue) which will be the Baby of this line, evolving into Kinler. I already know that this Baby will be based on Metly, a Seamer who appeared in my old game Seamer World 2 and who has existed as a Seamer since 2002.
Metly will be renamed ‘Medly’ as a nod to the variety of types it can end up evolving into, and will have a more humanoid shape. I’ll take care of this design on my own, and then this evolutionary tree will be done!
Early Birds
Here’s a slightly more complex line! Let’s start at the bottom and make our way up.
First up is this line’s Baby, which is a small yet unnamed bird. It can evolve into four Seamers, being Skyjay and Scarlinal under normal conditions, a Hummingbird in tropical areas and a Pigeon (Working name Pibin) in urban areas.
The Pigeon is Love type and does not evolve further. Such a dependency on humans for food ends this Seamer’s growth.
The Hummingbird is Air/Plant and has two evolutions, an Air/Plant Peacock and an Air/Sound Parrot. Neither has been designed yet.
You may notice the Parrot’s box is hollow- That’s because its home Evolutionary Tree is not this one, but rather a later Bird three, where it can also evolve from Seasail. Seamers appearing on a chart that is not their home chart are represented with hollow boxes, as seen above.
Skyjay and Scarlinal both evolve into a Hawk Seamer, who in turn can evolve into two types of Eagles. It took me a long time to decide on this, but I have ultimately scrapped Ceruliu and Nalidae for the time being. SkyJay and Scarlinal work much better as alternatives to one another, both filling the same evolutionary role for a little variety!
You’re welcome to submit any designs for the four Seamers missing from this chart!
EARLY BUGS
Lo and behold, this is our first finished chart! It’s entirely possible that more may be added on in the future, but as it stands I’m SO happy about how this one has come out. I am unsure of what to do with Rhinuto, as it does not fit the rest of this chart despite also being a Beetle. I’ll continue thinking about that. It will likely end up in a different tree altogether!
Rodents
Another line that’s finished, kinda!
I’m considering changing the color of either the mouse Baby or Sciurpal. (Whom also may be renamed Scuripal?)
As of right now, this line and the two preceding it each are planned to have exactly 9 Seamers in it, and I’m totally in love with how well that worked out! I think they’re a great example of how the same number of Seamers can be arranged in a variety of different ways!
Now you might be thinking that this first part of the SDCP 2.0 update leaves you with little to do! Worry not, because the final evolutionary tree in this update is far from finished!
Plants
Here’s what I have currently for the Plants line. It is not organized in any order, as I have so few plant Seamers to work with that I don’t know how the chart will look yet! This is just a list of ideas that I’d like to work into Seamer designs in some way. Maybe the Cherry Blossom is very small and round, or maybe it’s humanoid? I just don’t know yet!
I have some loose ideas, such as the Coconut evolving into the Palm tree, but ultimately this is something of a wishlist. I also would like to split this into two, maybe even three Evolutionary Webs but until I see the Seamers in front of me I don’t know how to split these up!
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!
Your ‘challenge’ this week is to submit as many designs as you’d like based on these plants or any other plant life you’d like to make a Seamer out of! (Also submitting birds from the earlier chart is helpful too.)
Feel free to flood me with plant ideas, even drawing up a full three-part evolution if you so choose to!
You have a little over a week, until Sunday, May 28th at 3pm EST to do so, because that’s when I’m hosting my first entirely-SDCP Live Stream to draw up plant Seamer designs and put together this Plant Evolutionary Tree with all of your help in the chat!
After that stream I’ll post part two of the SDCP 2.0 update, detailing more family lines!
Once again, the stream is Sunday, May 28th at 3pm EST!
In the mean time I’ll keep on drawing Seamers of my own as I have been! Let’s do this!!

will there be actual villains in the game and/or comic, or will the franchise be more focused on adventure?
Yes in the comic, unsure about the game. Both will still focus on adventure heavily, and the game in particular with put an emphasis on exploration, though ultimately I don’t know what the details of the game’s story will be.
I’m honestly very drawn at the moment to the Breath of the Wild style of: “You can go attempt the ultimate goal at any time, and if you want to learn more of the story you’ll find it if you look for it,” but I’m not sure if that fits the kind of game the Seamer game will be! I could always do something along the lines of the 8 gyms/trials that Pokemon does, though I’d rather not.
The comic and game will each feature their own unique stories and settings, with some parallels between them!

so we can just simply submit any seamer design we want right now?
Yes pretty much! Once I get over my cold I’ll be doing the SDCP 2.0 post detailing how things will work going forward, and a Seamer stream detailing where we stand right now in the dex and which evolution trees I’d like to focus on first!
So yes, in this interim time you’re welcome to submit whatever you’d like, and I’ll hold on to it until it matches whatever I’m asking for at any given time! (Also if you wanna try submitting any sort of fish that’d be great because we only have one so far!)
I had planned to do all the SDCP 2.0 updates already, but then I got sick. C’est la vie! Sorry for making you all wait so long. u_u

in the game, would we be playing as the Seamers, or as a Seamer Tamer/Seamerdestined/Seamer Trainer/whatever a human in control of Seamers would be called?
You’d be playing as Seamers! There are several reasons for this, but they basically all boil down to one simple point, and that is that generally, Seamers aren’t Tamed/Trained/Owned by humans! Since many species of Seamers are capable of speech and forming civilizations of their own, human controlled Seamers are far from the norm! Humans still exist alongside Seamers, but they’re more of an afterthought for this series, populating towns, etc. The Seamers you play as in the game as well as the stars of the comic are all acting on their own accord!

I’m still here!
I know I’ve gone silent lately but I’m still working behind the scenes! I’ve decided to plan out every Seamer Family line to the best of my ability, even the ones that don’t have anything drawn for them yet! As of right now there are a nice round 30 evolutionary trees, and some will cross over a bit!
My plan is to finish putting together a rough draft of how I picture each line unfolding, and then make a massive SDCP 2.0 post on here outlining what needs to be done for each line so everyone will be able to submit designs for whichever lines inspire them!
There might not even be weekly challenges any more, as I may just post the accepted submissions as I draw them! This will become more like a community-driven dev blog, perhaps? We’ll see how this all goes down once I make that big SDCP 2.0 post.
When is it coming, you ask? I’m not certain and I can’t make any promises! I know I have more people invested in Dot X and SkyJam than I do this, so unfortunately this project often has to take the back seat. I’m dedicated to this project though, so don’t you worry! It’s coming as soon as I can make it! ^_^
Thank you all for sticking with me!

Birds Update!
So I just spent several hours redesigning severa of the birds we’ve been working with, and then prepared to post the finalized evolution tree but I realized a huge problem that I hadn’t seen until now.
COLOR.
Every Seamer in this chart is some combination of blue, red, white, black. This was never intentional! I’m going to go back to the drawing board and do some more design changes now, though I don’t know when I’ll be able to post it quite yet! Just know that it’s coming.
In the mean time, the next like is FISH oriented! I’m just going to let you know that right now, so you can start coming up with designs ahead of time! Feel free to submit fish before challenge 25 is officially posted!
Sorry for the delays, everyone! Thank you for understanding! : )
Here’s what the chart was ALMOST:

why IS that Kauai Cardinal there, anyway? it doesn’t evolve into anything.
on a somewhat related note, could more new Seamers be added to the web, or is it already too big?
(Submitted by Godaisha)
The original idea was that both Skyjay and Scarlinal could evolve into it, but after drawing it I liked it more as the result of the bluejay and cardinal lines breeding! It’s like a rare prize bird you can obtain if you breed Seamers well, at least that’s what I was thinking about it. I think it should evolve though, you’re right.
You’re welcome to submit more new Seamers for this one! Even if they don’t fit into THIS line there are other lines with birds in them so maybe they’ll fit there!
