What exactly would you call the relationship between kamakura and schuichi . One of the reasons I always refer to it as a father-son thing (other than it being funny) is cause I don’t know what else to really call it..? It’s the same problem with the ultimates weird split personality’s

So I was wondering if you had a name for it

The name I would probably pick for it is just uh. Complicated. I’m gonna ramble QUITE A BIT (and probably SPOIL SOME FIC STUFF if you haven’t read all of TSSN) so putting this under a read more:

I wouldn’t say father and son, there’s an implied like… type of care there that Kamakura doesn’t have for Shuichi. Some people have mentioned Frankenstein and the Creature as a comparison, I’d definitely lean more towards that. It’s a weird mix of creator/creation, and also like… the creature from Frankenstein themself wanting to make someone else like him so he isn’t eternally alone.

Kamakura only knows how to treat Shuichi the way he was treated, and because he made Shuichi he thinks Shuichi should act the way he wants, that’s the simplest, least spoiler-y way I could put it. He cared about Shuichi the way a sculptor would care about their sculpture, to turn out right and be what it’s supposed to be. He cares about Shuichi, in some way, because Shuichi is like him, the only person he thinks could potentially understand him and be like him, and Shuichi just… refuses to do that. Refuses to be who Kamakura thought he would be and chooses people Kamakura envies can’t understand over and over again.

So, like long story short: Kamakura sees Shuichi as everything he feels he shouldn’t be, as something he feels ownership over, as his magnum opus and greatest failure simultaneously, and as some wretched undead abomination that needs to stop pretending it’s a living thing.

And as a BONUS: The Ultimates kiddos (the THH gang) don’t really have split personalities, Hope’s Peak’s codes make them act on like… old instincts and subconscious ‘programming’ telling them to act a certain way and do certain things they were made to do: kill, protect, observe, etc. the crappy personalities they took on came from Junko, she was always there after the codes to mold them into something cruel and self conscious and angry.

Im not sure if this is intentional or not but I find how schuichi deals with his emotions very interesting

He doesn’t seem to fully…grasp the feeling I guess

Like he knows when he or someone else feels sad and that it’s ok to feel that way but he just doesn’t understand or acknowledge when HE feels that way. He just keeps pushing forward without really thinking it through

It’s actually a bit relatable

He’s not a hundred percent good at feeling his feelings yet, he takes it in and acknowledges it but it’s hard for him to…. Take it past that point sometimes. Especially when he’s in a rush or in danger (which is often, lately) unfortunately he has to keep just pushing forward without thinking right now

If makoto was ‘created’ by junko the same way schuichi was kamakura I can’t imagine how screwed up he would be

He would be so dependent on everyone else I imagine. Say what you will about kamakuras parenting style but at least schuichi knows how to function like a normal human being

He would have a nice fashion sense though

He would be the most well dressed and most messed up little fella in the known universe.

Spoilers for both fics, I guess:

You kinda get a glimpse of that in Ultimates, you see how she would’ve ‘raised’ him. But if she had access to the same tech Kamakura did to make Shuichi, to sorta… put whatever info she wanted in him to dictate his personality and knowledge somewhat, would’ve been an absolute disaster for everyone. Depending on how ‘fresh’ he was he probably would be super dependent on the others, I could see him being pretty clingy actually lol. And dealing with learning how to be a human while also developing the insanely dangerous ability he has would be… challenging, to say the least.

Incredible fashion tho, he would help everyone pick outfits and smile real big when you told him you liked them. What a nice guy.

You know I’ve been trying to think of silly asks lately just cause you seem really busy and stressed and stuff but the only thing I can think of is lie detector baby au so we’re doing that again

I always try to imagine how the other remnants feel about this. Like it’s gotta be hard for kamakura to find a sitter among them that won’t consider murdering a toddler

Honestly the best babysitter award in that aspect probably goes to either Mahiru or the Imposter. They both think it’s kind of boring to kill a baby. It can’t even fight back, at least wait till it can walk, it’s gotta be something of a challenge. They’ll watch the stupid baby and take good care of it so one day they can see it scream and freak out. It’s an investment☺️

I know you said they’d never really get together but I’ve thought about what it would be like seven and 14 did

Like I imagine 14 is EXTREMELY open about how much she likes him and sevens just like ‘ok’ but he likes her to and can’t really express it cause dead inside

Everyone’s trying to think of ways to stop it because of how incredibly wrong it could go

Fourteen has big emotions, even if she tries to claim she only cares about completing missions. You’re right it would be very obvious she likes Seven lol.

She would bring it up to him, prepared to argue and debate it because Seven should be nothing if not logical so she’d need evidence to support this, but one sentence in and he’s just “That makes sense. We function very well together.”

It could go so so wrong in so many ways, but if Junko/One is calling all the shots she’s probably just gonna let it happen because it could be funny. If it ends horribly, explosively wrong one of the others can always step in and separate them before they hurt each other. And if Fourteen gets a little too possessive and fights one of the other numbers then that’s funny too, Junko’s gotta find ways to entertain herself you know.

Why do I get the feeling that if ultimates makoto met canon makoto he’d probably punch him

He wouldn’t need to punch him, he could gesture towards his gaggle of totally alive friends and canon Makoto would break down crying.
