I’m retiring.

I promised I’d never cheat the game & that I’d leave it in a better place than I came into it. The competitor in me always wants 1 more, but it’s time. My HEART & body knew, but I needed to give my mind time to accept it.

I always wanted to walk off the court with no parade or tour, just privately with the ones I love. What now was to be my last game, I walked off the court with my daughter. I ended the journey just as I started it, with her.

This offseason hasn’t been fun on a foot that isn’t cooperating. It’s no fun playing in pain (10 surgeries in my career) it’s no fun knowing what you could do, if only…it’s no fun hearing “she isn’t the same” when I know why, it’s no fun accepting the fact you need surgery AGAIN.

I fell in love with a little orange ball at 13 years old and BECAUSE of it my world goes ‘round. The highs are unmatched & the lows taught me lessons. On & off the court I’m proud I’ve always been true & stayed true to ME, even when it wasn’t popular.

I’m grateful that for 16 years I PLAYED A GAME for a living & DESPITE all the injuries, I hooped. I’m grateful for family, friends, teammates, coaches, doctors, trainers & fans who made this journey so special.

In the mean time, know IM A BUSINESS, man, not a businessman. This is the beginning…I’m attacking business, private equity, ownership (I will own both a NBA & WNBA team), broadcasting, production, boardrooms, beach volleyball, dominoes (sorry babe it’s going to get more real) with the same intensity & focus I did basketball.

My mission in life, like Pat Summitt always said, is to “chase people and passions and you will never fail.” Being a wife & mom still remains priority #1 & I’ve learned that time flies, so I plan to enjoy my family to the fullest!

Today’s players: ENJOY IT.

No matter how you prepare for it, you won’t be ready for the gap it leaves in your soul. Forgive me as I mourn a bit, but I’ll be back loving the game differently in a while.

kahleah leaving is horribly upsetting, but makes quite a bit of sense on her end. She wants to compete, no free agents want to come here and we have no draft picks. Makes sense to trade her now and get a lot of return than for her to just leave next year for nothing.

I would love for Skylar to go to Connecticut. It would hugely improve them and they just need a couple more pieces

Ah, the two-team race situation. As much as I'd like that to not be the case next year, the prospects are looking dim. On NYL's side, I'm actually hoping that they'll be able keep the core together. I'm curious what they've had this season to gel. As for LVA, I'm starting to get real bored of their main four, but you're right that they seem set for next season. Maybe the expansion can shake it up?

SDS would be a cool get for the Sky, but beyond her, I wonder if it'll be a quiet off-season for the Sky front office. I'd like to see them retool via younger talent, but Wade messed that all up... Sigh.

yeah it's a pipe dream unfortunately. but you're right! expansion in the future gives me some optimism that those teams will need to break up a little. also tbh i can't see NY keeping Stewie and JJ and SI all together for long either (and who knows how long sloot plays at all), even without expansion interference. i just need them to break vegas up a little haha

i unfortunately do not really like SDS, but she would definitely be a step up for next year if the Sky get her! that Marina trade really fucked us. she's good, but that trade package plus her salary amount (if we were getting her for cheap i could understand it more) is going to really be a burden the next couple years. one of james' worst moves as GM tbh

i'm hoping spoon as a coach is a draw for some free agents though! that might help

Welp that's a wrap on the season! At least Sloot went out on a relatively good performance (as opposed to whatever Game 2 was).

Any hopes/dreams/speculations for the next one?

tbh all i was hoping for out of the finals was a good series and for sloot to play well. i wasn't really sure who i wanted to win, i'm not big on either team. so a bit of a mixed bag on both fronts lol

my hope for next season is that it's less of a two-team race. i don't know how realistic of a dream that is because while i'm less sure about ny's story, i don't think vegas' roster will change much except to add back in candace lol. but it would nice for things to even out a little.

one of my biggest offseason interests is where skylar diggins smith is going to end up. it sounds like she's coming back but i have NO idea where that's gonna be. sky are an option there, she could slot right into that starting lineup
