Can we please remember with We were liars that Johnny in the Show is a gay man. He is queer. I have seen so many Johnny + reader fics popping up and they all seem to forget.
Hes not bisexual. He is a confirmed gay teen

No, because I can't stop thinking about the note. At first it just seems a little bit of last pettiness. But it like...sort of makes perfect sense when paired with the assumptions Buck's been making about Eddie throughout the season. Buck told him he's moving "like it's nothing" and Eddie has to say back that it's NOT nothing. Then we have Buck taking the 12 on the grief assessment at face value. He never actually asked. Only made assumptions. So, Eddie, who knows he was a little cruel in his delivery, but right in his message leaves behind a note that is purposefully vague. The blankets are folded, and he says he's at the airport. Now when Buck comes home, he's all "I thought you were in Texas" and Eddie goes on what seems to be his weird little joke about the letters and how he never said Texas and WHEN DID I SAY THAT BUCK? NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT THE NOTE SAID BUCK. And as soon as Buck actually verbally asks him what else he could be doing at the airport, Eddie is like "Okay. Good. Here is your prize in the form of me calling myself a dick who was mean to you and here's Chris." Because....the note was Eddie trying to hammer home the lesson that when Buck assumes things about Eddie he's missing out on the real thing. He wants Buck to ask him. He wants to tell him the truth. And it's a little harsh to have him stew all day thinking Eddie just left, but that's the point. Buck hurt his OWN feelings. Because he didn't ask! Eddie just wants to teach him that it's always just better to ask him! Now...I wonder what else Buck has been assuming about Eddie and their relationship this season....

the thing with buck wearing lingerie for eddie is that both of them really think it’s such a normal platonic thing to do. buck likes wearing lingerie and he likes eddie picking it for him so eddie starts doing it and loving it because it makes buck happy. and it makes buck feel relaxed to walk around the house with just a t-shirt and panties on when it’s just them at home and eddie encourages it a lot because he likes seeing buck relaxed. and the thing is buck looks really good in lingerie so eddie just has to compliment him, again? just has to say things like “oh i knew that pink would go well with your skin” or “these new blue ones are so pretty just like you, buck” and buck just giggles and blooms under his best friend’s very platonic appreciation of him and his panties

Eddie coming back because something happens to Bobby but on the other hand Eddie coming back because it’s his own choice. On the one hand hospital waiting room reunion mirroring 2.17 but on the other hand private reunion mirroring the goodbye in 8.10. On the one hand happiness of surprise in the face of grief but on the other hand happiness of surprise with nothing to hide your feelings behind. On the one hand why are you here where else would I be (you needed me) on the other hand why are you here where else would I be (I needed you).

i know we technically only have one texas scene "confirmed", but i could see eddie and chris in a montage that parallels their morning routine in stuck, and them facetiming buck as part of the routine, but the buck has to leave for the call, promising to check in later and keep them updated about something, but that check-in doesn't happen.
and then in a second scene, buck doesn't answer the calls, so chris, getting nervous about it as well, and being a typical teenager, checks social media and sees that something is going on in LA and tells eddie to turn on the TV and they watch the news as some person (maybe the opponent from ortiz's race at the beginning of season 8, wasn't that chief simpson?) declares a state of emergency or something, and the episode ends with chris turning to eddie and saying "lets go back home, our family needs us" or something.
Hmmm, yeah. I agree. That montage of Eddie and Chris waking up and getting ready for the day? I talked about this before in one of my specs. I definitely see this happening.
The rest of your spec is also in line with what I could see happening. Just an ordinary day for Eddie and Chris, but then everything changes for them as they are unable to reach Buck after they see something on the news.
Delicious angst. 😁

The 8x14 stills are LOUD and they illustrate who's missing.

For weeks I've been wondering if Eddie and Chris would be included in 8x14 and 8x15 because I want them to be in both episodes. Even though I have no idea if they will be (My hope is that there will at least be one FaceTime call between Buck and Eddie), I do believe things are being done in a way to highlight something to the audience and that's the fact that everyone's family is present except for Buck's!
Here's what I mean.
When this two-parter was announced, I wondered why they paired Buck with Athena again like they did in 2x13 and 3x14. The first time was when Doug stabbed Chimney and he took Maddie and the second time was when dispatch was taken. However, it's different this time since Chimney will be trapped in the lab with Bobby, Hen and possibly Ravi (I'm not sure if Ravi will be in there or if he'll be outside like Buck). It all became clear for me when I looked at the stills because they're GLARINGLY JARRING AND IT'S EASY TO SEE WHO'S NOT PRESENT.

It's Eddie and Chris; they're missing because they're in El Paso which means Buck will see how all the other life partners react to their spouses being in danger.

All of the above stills of Athena and Buck make me think that when she's told about Bobby's death (I know he's not dying), Buck will be front and center to witness her grief and her reactions of pain and despair could illustrate the way his feelings for Eddie are different from the way he's ever felt about anyone else. He may finally understand the love he has for him is huge, magnanimous, extraordinary, everlasting, unconditional and most importantly, they're ROMANTIC! He's madly in love with Eddie and seeing how Athena reacts to Bobby being gone will hit him in the heart like a lightning strike.

Bathena and Buddie parallel all the time and Buck always parallels with Athena the same way Eddie parallels with Bobby. I won't revisit all the times one of them have been in danger along with the other's reactions but Buck's and Athena's reactions to Eddie and Bobby being shot (4x13 and 4x14) or them being shot at (5x6 and 6x3) were identical down to the things they said. ("I got you!")
Additionally, I wondered why Buck won't be at the baby gender reveal party with Madney, Henren and their children and I believe it's being done on purpose too. They formed an even larger family and at it's core is Chimney's and Hen's ride or die friendship. Reminder, in 8x10, Chimney told Hen she should be at home with her family and she said, "What makes you think I'm not?" Her response illustrated how not only is she his best friend but also how they've become closer as two families forged into one after Maddie and Chimney were acting foster parents for Mara.

Additionally, Ravi being present at the bar with Buck again seems to have significance too. However, this time it appears to be illustrating how they're simply work partners and Buck's stepping up to be there after Ravi experienced a difficult call.

Reminder, the last time they were there in 8x11, Buck spent the entire time talking about who?

EDDIE DIAZ!
His partner in every aspect of his life!

Right before Eddie left, the entire 118's found family was at the hospital waiting to hear about Maddie.

But do you remember who wasn't there?
Ravi!
His absence was also LOUD but it simply means that even though he's part of the 118's A-shift, he wasn't there when the foundation of their found family was built. Although they love him, he's not a replacement for Eddie because he can't replace him. He can't replace Eddie in Buck's life as Buck's life partner and he'll never fill the Eddie Diaz shaped hole that remains in everyone's life at the 118.

And it's evident Ravi doesn't want to replace Eddie. Reminder, in 4x12, when Detective Romero said, "You're new." Ravi replied, "Yeah, I'm not really with them" and he meant it because at the time he wasn't. He's part of their family now but it's different and he's a placeholder for Eddie the same way he was back in season 5 after Eddie left the 118 the first time.
The point of this post is to highlight the fact that Buck's family is NOT SHOWN in the stills and it's LOUD. While Maddie's his sister, she has her own family and they've built a close bond with Henren's family. Also, in 8x13, Bathena and Henren were shown together celebrating Hen's birthday and Buck was there alone. He didn't stay but I think that was also done to highlight the fact that Buck has built his own family with Eddie and Chris.
Eddie and Chris are physically missing from Buck's life and it appears the next two episodes are going to HIGHLIGHT THAT AND DRAW ATTENTION TO IT MORE THAN EVER BEFORE.
When the audience sees it, those who've tried to ignore it in the past won't be able to any longer.
Buck and Eddie built a life and a family together more than seven years ago and it all began when they agreed to have each other's back.

Something about Buck asking Bobby: You think it’s weird that I still live in Abby’s place? and Bobby answering: Yes (2.04) versus Chim asking Buck: you still haven’t told him [Eddie]? and Buck answering: It’s me. I’m your renter. (8.09)
Something about Abby saying: he stopped waiting for me for a long time ago (3.18) versus Buck sitting in his loft just before Eddie and Chris knock on his door while “wait for me to come home” plays. (3.03)
Something about Abby telling Buck: I had to leave everything that I knew so that I could remember who I actually am. And Buck answering: but you did, remember, but you still didn’t come home. And Abby saying: I think I was afraid that if I came back home I would become that person again. Because I missed you. I wanted to see you. But I didn’t trust myself. And Buck answering: because being with me, you might lose yourself again (3.18) versus Eddie telling Buck: At least when I was there I could send him some money and be a firefighter, which is the only thing I know he’s proud of me for. And Buck answering: Hey, come on, that’s not true. And Eddie saying: I can’t bear the thought of seeing his face when he finds out I failed. And Buck answering: You didn’t fail, Eddie. And Eddie saying: I didn’t come out here to be an uber driver. And Buck saying: or a firefighter, you went out there to be Christopher’s dad. (8.12)
And something about Buck telling Abby: Did you know then that you were never coming back to me? (3.18) versus Buck telling Eddie: you can’t come back. (8.12)
Something about Abby losing herself in helping other people and Eddie finding himself in doing just that. And something about Abby being scared to lose herself with Buck and something about Buck reminding Eddie of who he is. Something about being left versus being away. Something about your life being on pause while you wait versus your life looking different but being ultimately the same because there is no waiting; you’re already still living it.
Something about what you need to take for yourself versus what you're willing to give up for someone else.
