The work for my newest solo show FAR FROM NORMAL, was created during a time of pandemic and protest. Frustrated and disappointed, I was having trouble creating my typical dark surrealistic work when the world around me was already so dark and surreal. This piece in particular was a product of social injustices and the protests. I sketched while watching documentaries like @13thfilm on @netflix and painted while listening to @runthejewels , @rageagainstthemachine and any interview featuring @killermike advocating and educating. Happy Easter! Here is a piece I did last year called “The Hare That Killed The Sun,” inspired by a Native American tale. Hares and rabbits have a fascinating place in folklore. The are depicted as everything from magicians and tricksters, to goddesses and witches. In fact, the origin of the Easter Bunny might have come from the Pagan festival of Eostre, the goddess of fertility whose symbol was the rabbit. Taken from @mysteriousplanchette ... “On this day in 1848, young Katherine Fox called out to the noisome spirits thought to be plaguing her family's Hydesville, NY cottage.
