My new zine, first issue, Everyday Epic! What if the world of Fairy Tales is OUR world? Everyday Epic will explore fairy tales, folklore, campfire stories, and other ways that we use stories to make sense of our experiences. I think that we often frame the things that happen to us in terms that diminish their significance. Everyday Epic is an exercise in using traditional ways of recounting stories as a way to give them a place in the epic, always happening story of this world. This first issue contains two original stories by myself and a story from Hans Christian Andersen (public domain) that served as a model for one, as well as some suggestions for other writers.  Available on Etsy or DM for more info! Committed to making this available to all budgets. (Is DM a thing on Tumblr? I hope so.)

There's a little village that straddles the Maine/New Hamshire line and although I didn't live there, I practically grew up in it.  One of my best friend's did live there, and we had many Sunday afternoon adventures exploring it and sometimes meeting up with other friends who lived nearby.  Her dad would often give us a dollar and we'd go barefoot to the general store to buy snacks.  A magical memory for sure. The store, Ira Miller's, was closed for several years but recently found new owners and is a community gathering place once again.  And ALL THAT to say...when I visited recently, I found this book by the owner's homeschooled daughter and obviously I had to pick it up.  Selkies! I have only thumbed through it so far, but in addition to the story, it has recipes, a craft, a song, and more.  Her version of the selkie story is even based on the one that first resonated so deeply with me.  I'm excited to read the whole thing. If you can't get to @iramillers , this young author's work is avaible on Amazon, as well. :)

I'm looking to start making some single story zines, and I thought it might be nice to have some original sketches in it.  I'm starting with one called "Daily Bread" and I thought some kind of take on the famous photo here might be good for the cover.  It needs to have a bologna sandwich instead of the loaf; it coud have a glass of water or whatever on the table.  The guy could look a little more...tired.  I'm imagining it in color, but I'm ready to be surprised.  It could be more abstract.  The inside of the zine could use some art, too.  I think so many styles could work, from comic book to something more realistic.  It could be that someone has a much better idea for cover art.  I'm so, so open to ideas haha. Anyway, long story (not very) short, if you want to know more, DM me your e-mail and I will send a copy of the story and you can see if it inspires you.  It's not an edgy story.  If you're into edgy, you won't be into this, haha.  I'm not even sure if I'm into it, but I've had favorable responses, so here goes. :) I'm happy to share social media information when I credit contributors in the zine and of course send comp copies, digital or hard copy or both.  Any other terms we can discuss over e-mail. :) By the way...I didn't even realize until today that this is a photo, "Grace" by Eric Enstrom.  In my mind it was an old, old painting, like a Rembrandt, and the dude was sitting on the other side, and in short...I'm wondering if I was actually thinking of something else entirely haha.  Any one know of a painting like that?

My first zine swap! (I think...) 4 zines from @thelaststate_or_thepenultimate . I love the look of them. My favorite is The Chiliagon Locket, not least because I learned a new word! #zines #zinesters #zinestersofinstagram #zinestersofig https://www.instagram.com/p/CAOYbU2Ab4L/?igshid=wh1c6zcbl3dk

I finished a project that I started because I wasn’t finishing projects! So do I even need the tool I created? Haha. Well, yeah, I think so actually. But here’s what I learned: I finished this project because it was the only thing I put on my list that day. I finished this project because I didn’t have any lofty expectations. I finished this project because I sat upright at a table right after breakfast instead of sprawled on the couch. Anyway, it’s not perfect, the photos aren’t perfect, the videos aren’t perfect, the Etsy listing isn’t perfect and the tags won’t be perfect, but here’s a thing I made! I’ll do another video or a few to walk through the purposes of the various pages after I start using it. https://etsy.me/2zH9DiI #zines #zinesters #zinestersofinstagram #zinestersofig #etsysellersofinstagram #selfpublished #selfpublishing #planneraddict #goals #habittracker #smallpress #indiepress #projectplanner#priorities #focus #momswhowrite #mainemom #writermomsofinstagram #selfemployed #smallbusiness #freelancewriter https://www.instagram.com/p/B_kbMEWAAmh/?igshid=1kptm2xbg83ih

In contrast to yesterday’s pre-work picture :) Coffee drained, zine parts and tools everywhere. I was hoping to post the new zines tonight, but the good light is gone, so tomorrow morning it will be there. :) #workspace #workfromhome #workathomemom #momswhowrite #writermama #zines #zinester #zinesters #zinestersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B_ipW1_gu4t/?igshid=12se7hr4m1fzk

I didn’t accomplish much today and I deeply regret that if I was going to not accomplish anything anyway, I didn’t just embrace the grey day and let it soothe me. But I guess it’s not entirely too late. :) #rainyday #greyday #rain #rainyday #cozy https://www.instagram.com/p/B-76d3MARpC/?igshid=1eigu34qlyqus

My first #quaranzinefest mail yesterday from @lindseybryanart !  We all enjoyed it so much and my crafty daughter is already planning her frog and toad costumes, as I knew she would be.  I was particularly excited to find a zine I could share with my kids (although I absolutely would have bought them for just myself!) The Ghost zine is so clever.  You can see the video that sold me on it on Lindsey Bryan Art's Instagram profile. I love that zines often come in special packaging.  I need to up that part of my game! FYI,  if you are concerned about viruses traveling by mail, what I generally do is handle the mail briefly and then set it aside for a few days for germs to die and wash/sanitize my hands and relevant surfaces. (If it's a package or not susceptible to moisture damage, I spritz it with sanitizer, too.)
