Semester depression pleas have been sent.

I feel like a failure, and a worthless piece of shit that can't do anything right. But maybe... this can also be the chance for me to pull my semester together and live beyond my mental illness.

There's one class I haven't messed up too bad. One lecture missed. That's it. Maybe everyone in the class is weird, or I just don't fit in, but I can go even if it's awkward and cringe-y. Maybe I'll meet someone sexy on the way there or back or at the library after. Just trying to look on the bright side.

September 6th

My current study schedule is not working. Currently, I have a qualitative journal entry and two modules that I need to complete by Friday. The hurricane week may have messed with my premeditated schedules, but without the practice of the routine, it has become unmanageable. Addressing this before it becomes a problem would be most necessary for the success of this semester. This week I may have to accept the burnout and move forward more consciously.

Mondays - no stress

Tuesdays - class and work

Wednesday - class and rest

Thursdays - class and work

Fridays - therapy and work

This gives me Mondays as a big study day, so I can work ahead for the week since most assignments are due the Sunday before. Tuesdays and Thursdays I can find an hour before class to do small study sessions, maybe this can be used for readings, journals, and discussion boards. I’d like to keep Wednesday nights for rest since I am often exhausted after my 3 hour lecture, these nights I can use to take care of self. This seems manageable for the future, but for this week I will accept a late night tomorrow to finish.

Hurricane Week

Classes were canceled the whole week, and after the hurricane party was had, it devolved into a bad week.

kids burnt out, sick, or injured

Although the week was mostly full of misfortune, some silver linings shone through.

First Week

Syllabus readings and ice breakers. Most of the people in my classes seem kind, but as always, everyone tries to perform intelligence the first week. My courses seem mostly exam heavy this semester, sans my qualitative methods course that is project based. For that course, my current project topic centers around queer sex education. I would mainly like to cover the topic of consent, but I must have that approved by my professor since it is a sensitive subject... it may end up as a subtopic rather than the main focus of my study, though.

Running between class and work on Tuesday and Thursday was a race against the clock to beat the out of school traffic, and I did not succeed either day. In the future, I think I will take a more leisure pace to rehearsals due to the traffic delays and this may give me time to eat lunches that I have yet to pack. This week has thus far been an experiment in my routines, and so far I have learned much about how to approach these future weeks.

It was a bit of a roller coaster, but I feel like I stepped into a role I’ve been craving. I feel like I expanded my abilities to help others emotionally, and looking for opportunities to trust others. I hope the tensions among staff cool off soon, but I’m proud of the way I’ve managed the situations for myself.
