I just finished the last half of the juno steel finale and what the f was that ending.
Like, I know rationally it is a good ending and has a good message: you become complete and whole and grow as a person by facing your problems and dealing with your trauma alone to seek closure. On the way, the last stop would be a trip to visit every person you've met on the way and have meaningful interaction. Growing alone doesn't mean that any of your friends and family and loved ones are not as involved or important in your life, but that every conversation will eventually bring you to where you are today.
Whatever. But whyyyyyy didn't nureyev at least have one line??? I
kind of privately called it that there wouldn't be a skipping off into the sunset hand in hand moment. But I did NOT expect this. At all. Yes, yes, I get that they did the right thing, and ended the story in a way that made the most sense and in the way that will stick in people's minds most, but I just really wanted to hear them interact just one last time... And it was basically a happy ending, what am I even complaining about? A happy ending is in itself, someone to celebrate. But, just whyyyyyy!
In short, it has been one hell of a ride. The penumbra podcast was there for me during a lot of hard times and I was crying tears of joy throughout the finale. Really excited to hear what's next!

SPOILERS FOR TPP SE.5 EP.23
(oh, and the ending of bbc's Merlin
Alright, I haven't finished the episode yet, but I haaaaave to talk about this.
I got to the part where the count down thing is ticking to just one minute left, and what does Juno say?? “Just hold me, Nureyev.” Now in which other tragic piece of media have we heard something similar before? The last episode of season five of Merlin, which ended with Arthur dying in Merlin's arms, the dying request “just hold me” not yet gone stale in the air. Which I am very much still not over yet. It was probably not intentional and was a total coincidence, but REALLY??? The whole time I was screaming internally omg they are. not. dying. Not again with this finally saying the what they truly feel but death is approaching rapidly thing. Guess I have a certain taste in the media I consume. Seriously, this episode has already been such a cardio workout. Don't even get me started on the fact that Nureyev chose Slip every single freaking time until Slip slapped some sense into him. Also, the second tune that played when Slip was communicating through that brain wave machine, sounded so nostalgic. If I weren't on the train listening to this, I would be bawling my eyeballs out.
I know Jupeter are probably going to be saved last minute by something? The Ruby probably? But still, goddammit I was so scared. Still am.

Hhhhh I have a vague idea of how I can compare Juno telling Peter that if he just says he never wants to see him again then he'll never look back in 5.02 to Orpheus and Euridice not being able to look back but I can't place exactly how I can do so

idea: a dating app but only for people who listen to the same podcasts as i do & have the same niches (with the same energy and fixation level) but instead of dating we become so very very platonically close and hyperfixate together in real life & start a merch store tgt & wear them ourselves like theyre friendship bracelets
i am totally not lonely in this island. (all my friends can’t relate and i suck at convincing them to listen)

We have received reports of an unknown object flying across Mars in a seemingly random path. The object appears to be self identifying as “Iron Steel.” More coverage later.
*Cue Juno screaming like a maniac while encased in the Ruby goop suit*

I am in a silent agreement with myself to never listen to podcasts in front of family because of all the unholy faces I might make.
i cant listen to podcasts in public anymore because everytime juno and nureyev interact i look like i'm about to have a panic attack

And if this is all going to mirror se1, after a few episodes they better be thrown together into some let’s-just-forget-the-stuff-between-us-and-work-together-to-take-down-the-badies moment, and they probably pretend to be married and the rest. It’s great to have PI Juno back again though
okay so this is probably the last interaction between juno and nueyev for some time with ruby not being able to track him down now and juno trying to find the person who knows if slip's treatment will even work and i like it as a mirror to s1 and we'll see their game if cat and mouse again

*SPOILERS FOR PENUMBRA SE.4 and 5
With all this talk about resurrecting lives, I think the corporation Nureyev is in debt to is probably the same one that brought Mick's dog back to life. In se.4 ep.7 Mick said that he put in the funding to "finish the project”.
On the other hand, I think we're probably not done with the mind reading and mind control stuff either because the two associate people from se.4 ep.11 were looking for the formula of Slip's hallucinogen.

I AM THINKI BC ABOUT THE ULTIMATUM. SPOILERS BELOW.
Part of it is, in my opinion, genuine tragedy, too. This isn’t miscommunication. There’s no conversation that’s going to get Nureyev to settle Nureyev’s mind. And why? Because he’s BEEN THERE before.
He’s been there, desperately trying to help. Desperate to keep the person he loves safe, he puts himself in danger and in danger, consequences be damned, and that’s what got Slip killed. Peter Nureyev wanted to help, and it killed the man he loved. It was one of the worst pains of his life, and he sees Juno, about to make what he thinks is the same mistake. It’s not about him. It hasn’t been for a long time now. But he can’t let Juno go through that, either.
And he’s been on the other side of the door, too- the most painful moment of his life. He remembers as Miasma’s bunker slid shut, and Juno stayed inside, even as Nureyev demanded, banged, desperate to get Juno not to do this. He was on the outside of that door when the bomb went off, and the silence in his ears was deafening.
The truth is, Peter Nureyev has watched the two best loves of his life die, and he has blamed himself for both of them, and no matter if they come back, he will always blame himself. He wouldn’t wish that on Juno- to be the one living when he is gone, when he could’ve protected him. But he can’t make Juno Steel leave, either, no matter how much it hurts, because he’s seen Juno leave before, and all it left was a ringing in his head, thinking he would do anything to get Juno back.
So when Juno gives him that ultimatum- he is silent. Not because he’s confused, or weighing the odds. Because it is an impossible choice- to let someone go when you can’t, to make them stay when you won’t. He wants Juno to choose, so he doesn’t have to. Because he cannot tell Juno to leave. But he cannot tell Juno to stay.

*SPOILERS FOR PENUMBRA SE.5
So. At the end of vanishing act pt.2, what if whenever Nureyev shifts into another alias, the Ruby can no longer read his emotions because she only recognizes Nureyev and not any other of his other guieses?

It would be incredible if bartimaeus could be adapted into an official manga in your style ;_; i would actually sell my soul if we could get an anime ver of it too i cant see anything else doing it justice
Tumblr media
Thank you for taking a look at my artworks! I'm glad if you liked it. I would very much like to see an anime of Bartimaeus, whether it will be animated with my drawings or not. I hope that Bartimaeus will be re-evaluated in the wake of the Lockwood dramatisation! Thank you for your message!
