[Scene: I'm playing music loudly while prepping dinner when Beth, age 14, returns to the room to finish making her homemade gnocchi...] Beth: "What is this music?" Me: "Thus Spake Zarathustra. It's by a German composer named Strauss." Beth: "It's very dramatic for cooking." Me: "Well, the dawn of man, the dinner of man — almost the same thing." Beth: ... Me: "From 2001?" Beth: "I wasn't alive then." Me: "No, 2001, the movie. Oh, never mind. The beginning has a sequence involving the evolution of human consciousness and uses the opening of this song. It's famous now. It basically became a meme before modern memes." Beth: "Is German orchestra music really the right background for making Italian food?" Me: "Good point. Let's try something else." [searches in Spotify app, begins playing a song] "OK, this is more appropriate." Beth: "Who is this?" Me: "Luciano Pavarotti. One of your great grandmother's favorite opera singers." Beth: "She had more than one favorite opera singer?" Me: "Oh, she had lots. Here's another." [updates Spotify] "Placido Domingo. He's Spanish, not Italian, but an amazing opera singer." Beth: ... Me: "What?" Beth: "I do not understand opera." Me: "It's not in English." Beth: "No, I mean: I do not understand the appeal of opera." Me: "OK, if you don't like that..." [updates Spotify] "...maybe this is better." Beth: "Who is this?" Me: "Frank Sinatra." Beth: "I think I've heard this before." Me: "Probably. Or maybe..." [updates Spotify] "...Bobby Darin." Beth: "I've definitely heard this before." Me: [cycles through a few more — Perry Como, Tony Bennett, and...] Beth: "Dean Martin? His parents gave him two first names?" Me: "That's just his stage name. He was born Dino Crovetti or Crosetti or something, I can't remember." Beth: "Wait, he chose that name on purpose?" Me: "Yeah, because having a really Italian name would just hold him back in the U.S., at least back in his day. All of these guys had really Italian names that they changed." Beth: "Jeez. Nowadays a cool name like that would definitely help." Me: "Suddenly all of this is beginning to feel like the soundtrack to Buca di Beppo." Beth: "But the food here is way better." Me: [turns up the music]

Content Marketing- SEO Made Easy
Quality Content Is The No.1 Factor In Business SEO

Perpetua Graham Content Marketing- SEO Made Easy July 10, 2022
Quality Content Is The No. 1 Factor In Business SEO
Quality content needs to be an important factor of business ongoing SEO. Posting large amounts of digital content on your site that are the same as lots of other content found online will not raise your business ranking. You may have heard that content over 2000 words is better. But is this true? Google’s John Mueller has stated that word count does not affect your ranking in search engines. It is the quality of your content, not the quantity, that affects your rankings. Quality content should be unique and based on specific topics relevant to your business.
One factor that consistently shows up in Google Search Console is ‘Content discovered, currently not indexed’. What this means is that your digital content is not being recognized by Google as relevant content. Brodie Clark, SEO Consultant at Brodie Clark Consulting, said marketers need to watch for what he calls “The Site-wide Content Quality Effect.” You need quality content, rather than quantity, in all your posts, for long-term improvement in SEO.
What is Quality Content?
Quality content is content that is relevant to your business. Rather than generic content, found on lots of other websites, you need to post unique digital content that is of particular interest to your audience. Google bases quality content on its EAT principles, that is, content that contains (Expertise, Authority and Trustworthiness).
How do you create quality content? To create quality content, you need to prioritize content to your business goals. What is uniquely different about your business? These are the topics you should be focusing on. Quality content is informative, factual and relevant. It should be useful to your audience. Quality content draws your audience to your site to find quality information they can’t find elsewhere.
One reason long-form content is often recommended, is because it is more likely to be informative and relevant. It is not the length of the post that is important in itself. But the relevance of the information it contains. A short relevant post will do better in rankings than a generic post of longer content.
Long-form does however give you the opportunity to include more keywords, especially long-tail keywords, relevant to your topic, without overstuffing
Quality content is easy to read and engaging while informing your readers of your products and/or services. Think about why readers come to your site. Think about what you want to teach them about your products and/or services. Make sure your digital content is factual, so you build up trust with your readers. Keep content up-to-date, so readers come back to see what’s new. This is how you will build up a loyal readership that you can convert into buyers.
Benefits of High-Quality Content
High-quality content has these benefits for your business:
Increases brand visibility
Target keywords in quality content draws more readers to your site
Keeps readers on your site for longer
Improves reader experience on your site so they return more often
Helps Google to see your site as useful to readers, which increases your ranking
What do your readers want?
You want to inform your readers about your products or services. But you must consider what your readers want to read about. What interests them? How can you relate their interests to your products and services? What will make them want to visit your site? What problems can you solve for them? Can you answer questions for them to make them want to stay on your page longer? Some readers are looking to find specific facts, others are looking for interesting and informative material, still others are researching a topic.
High quality content contains information your readers are interested in. You can use keyword research to find out what keywords your audience are using to reach your site. Then use these keywords to plan out your quality content. Google will take notice that you are providing quality content that engages more readers and has a lower bounce rate and will respond with raising your ranking.
Modern Readers
Quality content should be easy to read. Online readers are more likely to scan content than to read it in its entirety. Content suitable for modern online readers should be broken up by headlines and sub headlines. Make your headlines and sub headlines interesting so readers skimming your content will want to read more.
Keep paragraphs short and add visuals to make your posts more attractive to readers. Frontload information to make it easier for readers to quickly find the information they are interested in. Bullet lists and bold text also help readers to quickly find the information they want. Keep language simple and easy to understand.
Types of Content
Some business owners get confused about what kind of content counts as quality content. Quality content includes:
About us- long-form content that provides lots of information
Products/services - long-form for high-quality products; short-form for more every-day products
Blog Posts- Authoritative blog posts build a great reputation for your business
Social media posts- short-form content that is interesting and drives the audience to your site
YouTube- videos are more engaging for your audience
Case studies- appeal to your audience and make you appear more trust-worthy
White papers- long-form content that provides information about your business
Images- visual content appeals to readers
Infographics- show readers information in a clear concise way
Videos- are more engaging for readers than written content alone. They are becoming increasing popular and experts predict they will account for 80% of web traffic in 2022
Podcasts- are more interesting and engaging for your audience
Other tips for writing quality content
Stick to one topic so you don’t confuse search engines as to what your content is about
Don’t overstuff with keywords, as this can earn your ranking a demotion
Trending topics don’t last for long but are a great way to drive short-term traffic. By keeping your content up-to-date you can keep readers coming back regularly. You can tweak your content to make it relevant to interesting news stories. This can gain you more readers than you would usually have.
How-to content is always popular with readers. You can base your content on the questions buyers ask most often. Answer their questions and readers will love you for it
Listicles, especially if they start with numbers, are always popular with readers. They are an easy way to get information across and easy for readers to assimilate. Make them engaging and relevant to what your readers want to know.
Types of Content writing
Types of content writing include:
Short-form
Long- Form
Evergreen
Holistic
Data-led
Thought-leadership
Which Type of Content?
Business owners can get confused about whether long-form or short-form content is best for their business. The truth is, there is no rule about which kind of content is best. Which content is best for you will depend on your audience, your product and your business. However, we can help you choose between short-form and long-form.
Long-form content is content that is over 2000 words. This could be in the form of whitepapers, e-books and how-to guides.
Short-form is usually around 1000 words or less. Social media posts, blogs, and emails are some forms of short-form content.
The good news is that both short-form and long-term content are good for your business. Which one to use in any given situation will depend on the interests of your audience, where they are in the customer journey, and the context for the information.
Long-form may be better for:
High-end products
Introducing previously unknown products
When you need to explain complex aspects, like technical features
For initial marketing
Short-form content may be more suitable:
When describing a new product when you audience is already familiar with your products
Social media posts
Emails
One question to ask yourself when considering what length of copy you need, is, how much information do your customers already know about your products and/or services and how interested are they in them? If you are launching a new business and your audience knows nothing about your products and/or services, you will want to use long-form content to educate your audience about your business. Your audience will be more interested in reading long-form if it is new and interesting content and if they have come to you already interested in your product. Long-form content can make your business appear more valuable and trustworthy.
If you are a well-known business adding a new product, short-form content may be all you need to describe your new product. Your audience already knows your business and may become bored with long-form content. If your audience hasn’t come to you already interested, long-form content may put them off. Short-form may be better for capturing their attention. Short-form can be better at driving every-day sales.
Quality Content Takes Time
It takes time to produce quality content that drives sales. Content needs to be researched, optimized, written, edited, published and regularly updated. Many businesses don’t have the time or expertise to write and optimize their own content.
