One of these days I’ll write my 1000-word essay on my thoughts and opinions and analysis on why Byakuya feels like such a different antagonist compared to Nagito and Kokichi. Not today, but someday
#byakuya's just appears mostly as a typical rich arrogant asocial guy but his thoughts and actions are more understandable to his classmates#and he eventually joins and becomes one of them#meanwhile nagito and kokichi have an outlook on life so alien to their classmates their actions arent understandable#and are hence almost completely shunned. they never join the rest because their way of thinking is just completely incompatible#they live and die as an outsider and the main cast has complicated feelings over their death#basically byakuya's like a regular rival/antagonist figure that clearly dislikes the main cast before the main cast dislikes him#but is eventually “redeemed” sort of power of friendship style#meanwhile nagito and kokichi are kinda technically helping the main casts' but are such extreme oddballs they are almost immediately#disliked and outcasted by the main cast (while the feeling is not necessarily mutual). hence we classify them as antagonists#yeah. anyways#danganronpa#byakuya togami#nagito komaeda#kokichi ouma
