Soulmate AU where when you meet your soulmate(s), there’s an immediate psychic connection allowing communication and location services, like an extremely restrictive sort of mobile phone service just between you. Most people take it for granted….
But one day, when you were first exploring your F/O’s source, you felt a sudden connection to them. That’s not supposed to happen, right? That’s supposed to be a thing between REAL people….??
But the connection is there and you can’t pretend it isn’t. They’re just as confused as you, because they thought the same thing. How can their soulmate be someone they’ve never met?? It gets you talking, comparing notes, looking for information in your respective worlds. It brings you closer, until there’s no doubt left for you: they truly are your soulmate(s), there’s no mistake. And together, you uncover the truth.
There’s a whole community of people out there in your situation. People whose soulmates are “fictional,” who come from worlds you can’t see or interact with except through the lens of a story being told. You and your F/O(s) resolve to change that. If your bond can transcend the illusion of what is “real” and what “isn’t,” you can find a way to bring your worlds together. Your F/O is of the opinion that there’s nothing you can’t do.
Imagine throwing the last switch and seeing the light brighten for the umpteenth time. Maybe you’re exhausted, struggling, an inch from giving up. Maybe you’re brimming with hope, convinced that this time, this time, it’ll work.
Imagine that finally, finally, they step out the light and their eyes fall on you for the first time. Imagine the way their face lights up, the urgency in their step as they hurry to you and wrap you up in their arms at last. Imagine hearing their voice in ear, the catch in their throat when they finally say the words they've been waiting to tell you for so long: "I love you."

Soulmates AU Writing Prompt
So, I’ve been working on this prompt for a long time because no prompt kinda worked with what I wanted to write, so here it is. I got pretty good feedback from some friends so I decided to share it so anyone could use it! This are just general ideas, you can obviously change it however you want~
Soulmates AU…
In which people have a mark that’s empty, and when they meet a possible soulmate, it fills with colors as they create memories and their bond strengthens. (I base soulmates on a compatibility thing, so there’s possible soulmates for each person.)
The mark is an outline on the skin. It has a random shape, kind of like a splatter.
The colors depend on the type of memory, if it’s a happy one, a sad one, etc.
The size of the shape is decided by the person’s personality, depending on how easily they fall in love.
If the bond is broken, depending on how damaged the people involved are, the mark will become black and they won’t be able to have a soulmate again (just regular relationships) or the colors will erase with time as they heal from the relationship, giving them the opportunity to have a soulmate again.
Some people have more than one mark, which means they can have more than one soulmate at a time. This is fairly common, but it doesn’t mean they have to fill all the marks.
The marks appear on the body with time, you’re not born with them, as your personality grows and is formed, this also determines the amount of marks.
Aromantic people grow without marks.
Memories that are ingrained in the mark are never forgotten, they stay forever unless the bond breaks and the colors fade (they stay if it turns black).
As the bond strengthens, soulmates can start perceiving the other more easily, it’s been said they can even share thoughts. There’s a legend that says a white mark symbolizes the perfect and purest bond, but no one has ever seen one.

we’ve all heard of the NSFW alphabet, but what about a SOULMATE AU ALPHABET??
a...ging stops at 18 until you find your soulmate so the two of you can grow old together.
b...ody art (doodles that a person draws on themselves appear on their soulmate’s skin).
c...olors (aka the standard soulmate au where the world is black and white until you meet your soulmate and see colors).
d...amage done to a person also translates into their soulmate’s body (cuts, bruises and all).
e...sp (soulmates can sense one another’s presence and feel each other’s exact emotions even when miles away).
f...irst words/thoughts your soulmate says/thinks when seeing you are written on your skin.
g...uardian (it is said that the person who saves you from a near-death experience is your soulmate—drowning, car crash, etc.)
h...eartbeats (the soulmates share the same heartbeat—when one feels panicked, shocked, etc, the other can feel it too).
i...dentifier (a word or symbol which is imputed to your soulmate is somewhere on your body).
j...uxtaposition (your soulmate is the exact opposite of you, yet you find yourselves complementing one another).
k...eys and locks are randomly dispersed to soulmates on chains when they are born. when in proximity, the lock and key will act as magnets and bring the two soulmates closer together until the key is placed in the lock and a gratifying click is heard, unlocking the chain.
l...ast words your soulmate says are written on your skin, so you do not know it is them until they are gone.
m...arks or stains of the color black are somewhere on your body (palm of your hand, knuckles, knee) until you and your soulmate finally make physical contact. once the mark is touched, it fades to be consistent with the person’s skin color.
n...urse (the touch of a soulmate can heal you from affliction and vice versa).
o...pportune outfit (soulmates will eternally color coordinate, even if they have not met one another yet, and often times have similar patterns in their clothing).
p...assionflower (a type of flower soulmates have planted somewhere beneath their skin. Upon meeting their soulmate it will sprout through the skinand fully blossom as they reach the furthest point of their relationship. when a soulmate passes, the flower blooming from the other person does also).
q...uizzes revolving around one’s personal aspects, skills and ambitions are given to every person once they turn 18, and the results read who your soulmate is based off of your collective answers.
r...ed string bonds two soulmates together for a lifetime and all come in varying lengths—imagine the trouble of only being able to walk certain distances or having to sleep on the edge of your bed.
s...ongbird (any songs a person sings will get stuck in their soulmate’s head for the duration they decide to sing it).
t...imers are set on the wrist of every person once they are a certain age, slowly counting down until the day they meet their soulmate.
u...ndying (you and your soulmate must meet in order to end life—die—together. as long as you have not met them, you will continue aging yet remain immortal).
v...eiled (you and your soulmate must walk through life blind until running into one another by fate and finally gaining sight—those with no soulmate act as guides and help those in search of theirs).
w...riter’s choice (author can pick any au from the list to write).
x...FREE SPACE, the person who sent the prompt has the choice to make up an au or choose one from the list!
y...ellow fellow (colors of your vision changes depending on your soulmates mood. yellow is optimistic, green is envious, blue is upset, etc. and natural colors become present once the soulmates meet).
z...zz (in which soulmates first meet each other and share memories in their dreams before meeting each other in person—sometimes difficult to accomplish as dreams are hard to remember).
any writers on tumblr feel free to reblog so followers can send a certain letter to your inbox :) or just for ideas!

I saw this post by @astropixie about how it’d be nice to review fics on AO3 as you read. A little while back, because I was so in awe of the Clexa fic writers, I made this userscript (can install on Firefox by using Greasemonkey and on Chrome, ETA: Opera, and Safari by using Tampermonkey) so that I could do just that. It doesn’t have the wattpad or soundcloud functionality, it’s just a little thing added on to a page, not something supported by the site itself, but it’s better than nothing.
The userscript is available here: http://pastebin.com/vYBCYWu4
ETA: FFN version: http://pastebin.com/addj3Xtm

I hate hearing stories about how someone cheated but the other person forgave them and now they’re even more in love and lived happily ever after, it’s propaganda and I don’t care

I honestly think that crying over a book is one of the most prominent sign of compassion for humanity. You’re crying over someone who isn’t really there, doesn’t really exist, but you still feel for them as if you have known them your entire life.

Just Writer Things™️
“i don’t think this pen helps with my creativity, I gotta buy another one”
This is the third notebook I bought this month I need to s t o p. I don’t even write in them anymore
That overwhelming feeling when you found the perfect song for your work
One-word horror story: titles
Sequel to one-word horror story: summaries
“I know exactly how to start and finish this…I just…need to figure out how to bridge them…”
Me while reading an older work: what the fuck are you talking about :)
Me while reading a recent work: what the fuck are you talking about :)
Physically stops myself from using fucking as an adverb…again
Hello, constant self-doubt, my old friend
That one song you listen to on loop when writing a scene that by the end of writing it you’re already sick of the song and ready to fight anyone if you have to listen to it again
Me while writing a character intelligent in something im not: what the fuck should I talk about :)
Writing for a fandom and seeing people make passive-aggressive posts about fanfictions as if fanfic authors are fandom slaves
why are tenses so fucking difficult
That feeling when making a playlist for your wips
Writer’s block is so fun huh
Daydreaming about your wips
“is ‘fuck’ a curse word during the 1700’s”
Thinking of the dialogues/banter and not noticing that you’re saying it out loud until you see someone giving you a weird look
“im self-projecting too much aren’t I :)”
Looking for writing tips and following none of them because ‘you have your own style’
Someone seeing your google history and wondering if you’re a murderer because why the hell do you have ‘how to hide dead bodies’ in there
Not knowing how to feel when people are liking more the thing you half-assed than those stories you shed tears writing
This is a ridiculous idea but would make an interesting story
Me while writing: im never gonna be good enough I cant im horrible I should give up - | me when I finished something: I am god no one can stop me now I will take over the world | repeats cycle
Spends three hours researching about lamps
That one person you want to impress. You know, them.
Writing dialogues: okay, good, so poetic, much majestic | writing descriptions: the sky is blue and the water is blue too because of it
“wait, fuck, I already used this scene in my other story”
Me while writing using my third language: im using this word correctly right
Me while writing using my first language: im using this word correctly right
I thank god for the creation of thesaurus
That conflicting feeling when you read someone’s work and it’s really good, so so amazing that you’re both inspired and envious and you feel bad for feeling envious
I have 167 ideas and im writing none of them
Don’t listen to that voice in your head that’s telling you you should take a quick break when you’re on a writing roll. Just don’t. It won’t be a quick break.
When you have the time to write but you choose to do other things that there’s really no need to do
Like me writing this post
And you browsing tumblr
Open a document now
Write
Your wip is waiting for you
And it’s gonna be amazing and all so worth it
So don’t be too hard on yourself.
Someone out there fell in love with your style. Someone out there will fall in love with your style.
I love you and keep creating. :)

Writing Prompts to Get to Know Your Characters Better
I’ve created a list of 48 different scene prompts to get more familiar with your characters and their relationships, that are more fun (in my opinion) than lists of deep questions to ask yourself about them. Feel free to do as many (or as few) if you want. If you answer any, please tag me!
Individual Characters
Write a description of them from the point of view of their best friend or a person who has a crush on them.
Write a description of them from the point of view of a person who absolutely hates them.
Write their earliest or favorite memory.
Design what their Instagram page would look like. (Yes, even if they’re from a time when they don’t have Instagram.)
Write their death scene, even if you’re not planning on killing them within the piece.
Alternatively, write them a eulogy or obituary.
Your character is in high school, and has become valedictorian and has to give a speech at graduation. Write it.
Write a letter of recommendation for this character. For what? I don’t care. Write it.
Your character has a YouTube channel. Write the script for their most watched video.
Write the notes written on the doctor or therapist’s clipboard after a meeting with the character.
Your character has been arrested. Write the news posting.
What song did your character make an embarrassing dancing video to as a child?
Your character has become a celebrity and is on a talk show, telling the story of a traumatic childhood memory…
One-On-One Friendships
First meeting scene has been done so many times. Write the first fight instead.
Write a series of text conversations between the two.
How would they behave at an elementary school sleepover?
One friend has been detained–arrested, grounded, detention, you choose–and the other is trying to convince the detainer to let them out.
The two decide to enter the school talent show, solely for the $50 Cheesecake Factory gift card prize.
For whatever reason, they must pretend to be siblings. Bonus points if they are different races or just look nothing alike.
One friend got evicted, and has to live with the other for a week.
They’ve been working on a joint bucket list since they became close. Write the list.
One is extremely drunk and the other must stop them, as they have decided that now is the time when they just have to…
Your characters reunite in a nursing home in their 90s after not having seen each other for at least a decade.
A creep hits on one of them, and as friends do, they pretend they’re dating to ward off said creep. Only problem? Said creep keeps showing up.
The maid of honor/best man speech.
Friend Groups
They’ve been in a car together for 6 hours on a road trip, and someone tries the dreaded “Are we there yet?”.
A group picture goes horribly wrong. Write the scene– or draw the picture if you’re a visual artist.
It’s middle school. There’s a snow day. Everyone goes sledding. And then…
Compile the memes that are most commonly sent in the group chat.
They discover one of them has never seen Star Wars. Write the following discourse and movie marathon.
Look up “Most likely to” challenges on YouTube, write down the best questions, and use them with the group. Even better, write a scene where the group is using them with each other.
Write your characters as overly passionate PTA members planning the next school fundraiser.
One of them goes out of town, and the group has to watch their house/plants/pet/kid while they’re gone.
A member of the group was minorly wronged. Everyone decides to enact petty revenge.
The wedding was going so well, until the rest of the friends decided to make the reception a little more interesting.
One friend works at a restaurant. The rest decide to eat there while the friend is working. Describe how the group gets the friend fired in one night.
For whatever reason, nobody can go home for Thanksgiving. They decide to have Thanksgiving together instead.
Romantic Relationships
Write a breakup scene. Doesn’t matter if they’re not going to break up in your piece.
Write the moments when they each knew.
One’s meeting the other’s parents for the first time, and accidentally lets slip that…
The siblings/friends scheming together about how to get the two to date without being creepy.
Write the stupidest argument they’ve ever had.
What text message conversation is framed in their apartment/house?
Somehow kill one of them, and let the other react.
It’s Valentine’s Day. The couple goes out to eat, when both of their exes walk in… with each other.
The Mario Kart match neither of them is allowed to talk about.
They’re not speaking. Write the development of the fight only through conversations with the buffer friend.
Write a proposal scene, even if you’re not planning on them getting married in your piece.
They return to the place where they first met/kissed/dated. Somehow, the place has been changed, and not for the better.
