Project 5 was pretty easy. I loved this assignment not because it was easy but because it was a change of pace. It was a two-day assignment, and it was out of the norm of what we would do in class. I learned a few new words and learned a little bit about describing how something is made. How multiple pieces of things come together to make one. The readings talk about the e-commerce industry and the selling places. Their experience in the industry, how this opportunity came about, and their responsibilities. The roles they play and their experience designing for big companies. Next is the User Experience. Creating websites, apps and other mobile interfaces. What strategies they implement into their process to make these things user friendly. The difference between a graphic designer and a user experience designer. They discuss how to successfully design something that most users will love. Thus, my favorite chapters are the first two. They really stick out to me and help me with things I've been struggling with as a designer.

The reading for this segment of the blog was Chapter 3-5. Chapter 3 talked about how to design in partnership. How two designers can come together to create and make decisions on what's best for designs. How they not only work with each other but how they are able to work around each other. How to prevent one another getting in the way of each other. It also discusses the perks of having a partnership and how they came about being a partnership and what made them do it. The next chapter discusses "Letter and Type". It breaks down with question, answer form the technicalities of letters and types. How complex and deep the two are how they become hand in hand of each other. This chapter plays a role of what I'm creating for project three. In project three I was instructed to sketch out designs that I think would sit well with a self-chosen quote. After I sketched out the designs I sat and observed 3 that I really think would go well with the prompt. Once I picked from the three, I decided on a text-based image. With the image I didn't want to take the direction of using premade fonts, I wanted to make my own type. I decided that to make something catered to what I think went best with it. Similar to the chapter 4 topic of how they discussed why certain designers designed their type and what was the inspiration behind the making of it.

Typo??
This week we worked on an abstract typography project. Typography has a broad range of selections. A selection so broad that it is possible to get lost in the section of typography. I'm a person who will find myself looking and scouring through hundreds of pages of font selections, looking at different sizes, the fine details of it. With typography, font is one of the layers of it. It's ultimately one of my favorites. That's why I loved this project. It gave me a broader outlook on what can be done in the art of typography. I was not familiar with turning fonts into abstraction, making it work and doing it well. It was a challenge experimenting with different tools in Adobe Illustrator to come up with something so simplistic yet so detailed.

"The decision to become a graphic designer can hit you on the head.... This is not just a job- graphic design is a passion" A quote from the first chapter of the book that really resonated with me. I've loved design since I was little. I always looked deeply into how things were designed. From magazines to posters and anything graphic related. This week our first graphic project was due. I looked through a few memoirs before I came up with my own. I love to take inspiration from others because there's a little of at least one thing that everyone has in common. So, my thought process started rolling in. I had a few word changes until I finally found what fit me. I scrolled at least an hour through pictures to find the perfect one. I displayed one of the potential photos at the top of what I kind of wanted at first. I loved this project so much. It gave me a thinking ground, a way to broaden my imagination beyond what I'm usually use to which is very relaxing to me in a way. When things were presented, and we gave critic it opened up a new side of me. I didn't know I could give as much critique as I could. I also didn't know I could take critique so well as a person. I saw amazing pieces by my classmates which blew my mind that the community of designing is so large. Overall, I loved the project, I loved reading the chapters due to this being my first graphic design book I've ever read. I'm loving the class and looking forward to many more amazing projects that broaden my horizon of design.
