…of people telling newbies that all they need to do to fix their doll’s posing issues is to tIgHtEn ThE sTrInG. I’m coming for you people with a squirt gun.

How to Actually Make a Doll Handle Better:

Tighten/Loosen the string - Okay so yeah this CAN be helpful sometimes. Plenty of companies, artists and previous owners send dolls out too tight or too loose and it needs adjustment. This is basically 101 doll troubleshooting.

Note: Your doll shouldn't be so tight that you cannot comfortably pull hand/feet part out of their socket to replace them. I don't know why some of y'all do this shit, but I want to shake your head like an 8-ball every time you complain about not being able to get the doll's head off. OF COURSE YOU CAN'T! THE STRING CAN'T STRETCH ANY FURTHER! (also don’t keep the knot in the head because that’s making life harder for you too)

Elastic cord gauge is too thick/small for your specific doll - This, in my experience, tends to be the most likely cause of issues. Lot of people are under the impression that all dolls of specific sizes use the same size elastic, and that is not the case at all. I got dolls that need different size elastic for their arms vs their bodies. What thickness you need is completely dependent on how much room is available in the individual doll’s string channels.

As for why that is…

If you use too thick of elastic cord, it won't have room to move and thus won't pull back as well if at all (had this issue where my Raccoon Doll boy's hands wouldn't suck back into the wrist socket and his arms would also not sit nicely at his sides. Completely fixed when I used a thinner cord).

If too thin, then it won't have enough strength to pull pieces back together and you'll have an expensive rag doll.

Do yourself a favor and buy a pile of different sizes of elastic cord and experiment with what works in your individual dolls. I personally buy my elastic from Dollmore since they got a good collection of sizes with good strength for dolls, and even offer beige and brown colored cord (but if you have a local craft store with a good collection of elastic cord, that’d likely be even cheaper).

Elastic is complete garbage - If that shit stretches for days super easy, throw it away. Yes, we want stretchiness, but we also want that shit to snap back into place so all the parts pull together. Resinsoul and Iplehouse are two companies completely guilty of shipping their dolls with useless string in their dolls (not sure if that is still the case, but it was in all the times I purchased directly from them). It does not matter how tight you make this shit, it will not make your doll behave any better (if anything, now your doll is kicky, still floppy, and also it's impossible for you to switch hands and feet out).

Resin is too smooth - Lot of people love that silky smooth finish on their dolls, but now the parts have no friction and nothing to grab onto in their sockets. Hot glue sueding in the sockets helps a ton with amending this.

Wiring - If you want action figure level of control, this will get you at least partly there lmao. I've only bothered shoving wire into my dolls when they have truly bad joint designs (RIP Dust of Dolls and Lillycat lmao), but it’s always great to have this extra stability in more competently designed doll bodies.

String style is some cockamamie horseshit - A rare occurrence, but it happens (looking at you, Iplehouse and your fucked up cross-elastic-at-the-groin-before-going-down-legs nonsense). A majority of BJDs are strung in the one specific way because it's what works best and allows the elastic to do its job without hindrance.

If the doll in question isn’t over-engineered, you can sometimes restring them the Correct way, but usually dolls that are like this have to be modified to behave right.

Oh my god I need #4 Lagoona like YESTERDAY

[Monster High] so since pink lagoona is a hot topic in the fandom, i though it'd be a fun challenge to try and make some pink lagoonas myself. there's actually a lot of material to work with imo!

these are all essentially looks for a recolored g1 lagoona, only the last one being intended for her g3 personality. i wanted to make more for g3, but didn't quite like them in execution, so maybe another time..

tropical treasure: beautiful, glamorous, colorful, but a bit more of an aquarium decoration than a strange beast. loosely inspired by bettas

ghost ship cruise: etherial haunty lagoona, inspired by jellyfish. light, translucent and probably cold to the touch

coy classic: elegant mermaid pond lagoona, inspired by koi fish. this one is kind of an amalgamation of her g1 dolls that exists in my head tbh

little axolotl: cute and quirky, like the new lagoona. inspired by axolotls and sea slugs :)

Bandai Announces Tamagotchi Paradise

First the comic book, and now the actual device. Did you think that Tamagotchi Paradise was only a comic book release? The the new Tamagotchi Paradise is focused on your Tamagotchi being a planet, and nurturing with a dial to zoom! Not only can you scroll to zoom on the new dial, but you can also press it!

Officially announced are three Tamagotchi Paradise shells, Pink Land, Purple Sky, and Blue Water. Typically the programming does not differ from shell, but it does this time! The shell you choose will determine which area you start off in.

For example, if you purchase a Pink Land Tamagotchi Paradise, you will start off on land, and then you can unlock the two other areas through gameplay.

Highlight 1: You will nurture your Tamagotchi character with zoom lens. Zero in on tiny cells or gaze out at the vast universe, nurture over 50 different characters! You can zoom into Tama Space (furthest out), Tama Field, Tama, and Tama Cell (closest).

Highlight 2: There are over 50,000 characters that you can raise depending on the environment and the way that you take care of your Tamagotchi character. There are even 3 secret characters that have yet to be revealed. You can view the characters here.

There are 50 characters and 12 different species total. We’re really excited that there is a new “Breed” feature which allows Tamagotchi offspring to have genes from their parents. That’s right, genetics are back! This is huge.

Highlight 3: Test your luck by connecting with friends. Dock two Tamagotchi Paradise devices together and connect, if you succeed you can become a family! If you fail, something strange might happen…

The devices connect not through infrared, or any wireless connectivity, but rather similar to the Osutchi and Mesutchi! The tops of the devices feature a cap that can be pushed back on a hinge that will reveal the connectors that need to be physically connected to anther device in order to connect.

The Tamagotchi Paradise also supports shop codes which will earn you exclusive items. These will be delivered in the form of stickers (Tama Lab Stickers) and on accessory packaging.

You can even view your Tamagotchi at a comic level or field level, by zooming in on your Tamagotchi’s body to see what’s going on inside. You can then treat them at the cellular level to ensure they’re healthy!

There will of course be mini games to play, which will also utilize the new dial. When you clean up their poop you can recycle it into biofuel to fuel your spacecraft to travel!

We’re also really excited about Lab Tama! The Deka Tamagotchi is back! Look for Lab Tama displays at select stores to view new planets that are being researched at the Tamagotchi Lab! Bring along a Tamagotchi you’ve been releasing and you’l receive special items. Play mini games, and earn cool prizes.

On Lab Tama, you can even send your Tamagotchi to a new planet being researched at the Tamagotchi Lab, and if they’re a good match, they could even breed a new Tamagotchi. There’s a Tama Watch feature where you can discover even more characters. There’s also a secret feature that has yet to be announced.

At certain stores, you can connect your Tamagotchi Paradise device with the Tama Lab researchers' (store staff) devices! Connect with researches to earn up to 12 exclusive items.

These Tama Lab displays will start appearing in participating stores later this year.

The Tamagotchi Paradise also returns to replaceable batteries, requiring two AAA batteries, and no longer a built-in lithium ion battery with USB-C connectivity.

Each Tamagotchi Paradise comes with an instruction manual, and a nurturing guide!

The official release date is set for July 12th, 2025 with an MSRP at $44.99 USD! Preorders are available on Amazon US and various retailers globally.

That’s not all! Not only are we getting a new Tamagotchi device, but also accessories!

First are the neck straps available in both blue and pink and they both feature your favorite core characters and some new faces in an all new style. Each neck strap features a shop code you can enter for an exclusive item!

Second are the carrying pouches which are available in Mametchi, Meowtchi, Irukatchi, and Horhotchi! They feature the head of each character and the back features a zipper and clear slot where you can see your Tamagotchi and interact with it as there even is a cutout for the dial. These carrying pouches also feature a neck strap. Each carrying case features a shop code you can enter for an exclusive item!

So a local person had their Coral Reef / Whale Island rabbit up for sale and I couldn't help myself. I've wanted her for so long and I'm so excited to have her now!

I named the toothy bb Zähne (German word for teeth) since I'm going to make her a wolpertinger inspired creature and they're part of Germanic folklore!

AHHH SHE'S HERE!!!! I really wanted to get a Cocoriang during the NYC Doll Con but I didn't get a chance to shop on day one at all and by day two, all the ones I really wanted had sold (unsurprisingly). But I did join the super lovely creature companion bjd discord and learned about Buyee and OH BOY was that not good for my wallet lol. Mostly because of this little cutie! Kumukuku is the artist behind a lot of the sculpts at Cocoriang but she also has her own line of dolls too! I still would love to get a Cocoriang Niya and Tobi at some point but I'm really happy to have this sweet little fox home for now! I've given her temporary eyes but I think I might re-blush her so she reads more purple. In a lot of the photos, her color just vanishes. Plus I think it would be fun to do some more whimsical blushing like some of the LE kumukukus and cocoriangs!

Now to think of a good name....
