at night i catch the wild skies waking through the mountainside and peek, eager, with fire-eyes upon the half-dead trees that line my scantly seat of warmth

the downside slope of land that i have tried to walk, but been denied by crooked falls and stones that glide into a twisting water-line now shift in ways that signify my dear autumn has come home
