Ey thanks dude! I actually have started writing it but I'll make some sort of announcement if and when I'm ready for it to see the light of day
It sucks that you can’t do that, but if you do decide to ever make a book on something else or if you ever can make one for Debaser, I’d buy it for sure. I don’t think I’m alone in saying that either.
Aw hey thank you so much! Unfortunately I doubt copyright law will be on our side anytime soon but I would love to be wrong about that. I do have plans for an original serial killer x aspiring serial killer story set in the early 2000s so who knows, maybe I'll manage to self publish or something.
For now though the focus is still on my scream stuff.

Changing names and turning fics into published books is the hot thing to do, and I'd love to buy a copy if you go that route!
Yeah some folks have suggested this but Debaser is such a companion piece to Scream that I would have to change way more than names, I definitely couldn't get away with the part of the fic that goes over the event from the movie. Atp I just don't know how I could do this without fundamentally changing the story yk?
I appreciate it though!

This 69 is becoming increasingly competitive lmao. For Billy at least, Stu is just having a nice time.
To the person constantly asking for a stuilly 69 scene: you're getting one in my beach house oneshot!

Can I just say the way Stu is in love with Billy in your fic is so... So healing somehow? Like even with him liking Tatum (and I believe that he liked/loved her!) it never felt threatening ir anything. Like... That love never felt in danger once and ugh... Soulmate behaviour, I'm obsessed
Aw thank you so much this is such a lovely compliment!
I def see Stu as ambiamorous, like capable of attraction and affection for multiple people, but the amount of love that that he feels for Billy is so much more than what he feels for anyone else. Tbh though I wouldn't say Stu really loved Tatum given that he lets Billy kill her later, but the way I write him he definitely did like her and felt attraction to her.
On Billy's part he's def not ambiamorous, Stu is kind of the only person who's ever been on his radar that way. Loving Stu feels like a curse to him, something he can't escape no matter how hard he tries. Stu also doesn't feel like he had any choice in the matter but he doesn't resent that in the same way that Billy does. I think to him, even before he knows it, everyone else he's dated has been fun but they're just a way to pass the time until Billy's ready for him.
Tbh I don't really like stories that plays into real threats to a relationship most of the time. That brand of jealousy in fiction can be a little triggering to me, I have been cheated on in the past so it doesn't feel good to retread that feeling of being worthless to someone. I do still like to play with some jealousy/possessiveness in fiction, but Ive tried to lean into that jealousy existing in spite of the fact that their relationship is a sure thing.
They're made for each other in a way no one else is, they match each others freak so perfectly that its unshakeable.

Hi! I'm reading my way through Debaser and it's just. Immaculate. Everything feels so true to character and vivid and I love your word choices for so much of it! All of your descriptions of them with hunting equipment has actually inspired some writing from me which just. Hasn't happened in months (becuase I'm a workaholic orz). So thank you for that! I haven't decided on posting or not but if you see a fic drop of young stu hunting, uh. Thanks for inspiring it lol
Hey thank you so much, it's cool to hear that my work gave you a story bug and a young Stu hunting fic sounds awesome. Im a big fan of fics that explore younger versions of characters so you can see the roots of what they're going to become.
I wish you a good writing time!

it disturbs me that a significant number of people think that the issue with sexual violence, gendered violence, and misogyny is sexual desire rather than dehumanization, so they are relentlessly suspicious of others' (and their own) desires while simultaneously never at all interrogating others' (and their own) dehumanizing beliefs about other people, both within and outside of sexual contexts

Wait it’s not legal to sell your own work?
Not if it's fanfic. I don't own the copyright for scream, so I'm not allowed to do anything that could take profit from the brand owners, which basically means you can't make money off fanworks- although that tends to be applied more to writers than artists, lots of fan artists get away with it (and good, fan artists should be able to make money).
Fan writers didn't even always have the legal right to write and spread fanfic for free, theres a pretty infamous era before my time in fandom when people were getting sued by Anne Rice (writer of the interview with the vampire books). It's thanks to the OTW (group of volunteers behind Ao3) who fight continuously for our right to write and share fic under fair use law. And yes I mean continuously, which is why donating to the OTW is important if you have the money! They literally need it to fund the legal fight for free speech in fandom.
Sorry if I sound like I'm sponsored by them doing an ad or smth, I just really want people to understand that what we have is vulnerable, and especially right now with multiple countries pushing for censorship in online spaces we need to be prepared to fight for it.
In case you cant tell I think this use of copyright is bullshit. If anything fan creators bring more money and eyes to the original work, I've even had a couple people say that my writing prompted them to watch scream. Fandom is free advertisement imo, and I think fan creators should be allowed to get paid for that.
Especially because a bunch of literary classics are actually fanfiction! Paradise Lost and Dante's Inferno are Bible fanfic! James Joyce's Ulysses is an AU fic of The Odyssey set in Dublin, a whole load of Shakespeare plays are based off other works, and The Three Musketeers are characters taken from another book!
If those mfs were allowed to make money off their fanfics why can't we?
Anyways, rant over lmao

assuming that there’ll be killing scenes in wom —i know it might sound kind of wrong (for moral reasons, obviously), but i’m really excited for that. i think it’s a very substantial part of who they are, and i’d like to see if there’s any difference after what they’ve been “improving” in their relationship(not just romantically speaking, ofc, but as individuals too) even if they’re fucked up in the head for it— how is it going to work? who are they targeting? and also assuming it only works when they’re in good terms with each other, like they were in debaser (in sync or some shit like that)
Before I get into it I just want to say theres nothing morally wrong with wanting some fictional characters to commit fictional murder, that doesn't actually harm anyone.
And yeah there will be killing scenes in WoM, these boys need their sequel. I want it to rhyme with the original so there will be a murder to kick things off and then a year later a massacre. I don't want to give too much away because some of this will be revealed over the next few chapters as they start planning.
Here are the rules for a sequel though:
1. The body count is bigger
2. More blood and gore
3. Never assume the killer is dead
*I may or may not end up adding a rule later, still working on that stuff
Otherwise I will say that yeah, in order for things to go well I think they have to trust each other and work together. Each has strengths and weaknesses that balance the other out.
Stu is better at dealing with unexpected changes and improvising, and he can bring Billy back from a panic when he's at his best. Billy provides focus and direction for Stu, who gets comfort from following orders. When he's less in denial about his feelings he's obsessive about the people he loves. He killed the woman his dad cheated on his mom with her yk?
But that stuff only works when they're in sync on things. That's partly why theres so much story before the first murder, I felt that they needed to work through some stuff so they'd be able to sync up again.

So I just finished what's out of Wave of Mutilation (which is absolutely amazing), specifically the Trans Billy version of it since I'm also trans, and I just wanted to ask how you view Billy's acceptance of his gender identity in relation to his hostility seeing himself as gay in a lot of Debaser and Wave of Mutilation. I read it as he seems a lot more okay with his gender than he is with his sexuality and I just wanted to know how you think he feels about it. If I missed something obvious, I apologize. Again, absolutely love your writing and your take on these characters, you've inspired me to get back into fanfic writing lol.
Hey, thank you so much! I love hearing folks say they want to get into/get back into writing, the fandom is always better with more creators.
To answer your question, yeah Billy is much more ok with his gender than his sexuality. I just didn't want to write a story about a trans struggle for self acceptance. It feels like the majority of trans fic is set very early in transition and focused on gender insecurity and dysphoria, and thats an important story to tell but it's not my experience anymore. I wanted to write a trans person just existing in their gender, not having to fight for it.
In terms of how Billy processes this I think it helps that trans men were basically invisible at the time, because there were fewer cultural narratives and negative stereotypes about us. To be clear invisibility is not a privilege, theres a lot of harm that has come to our community and continues to be perpetuated as a result of invisibility, but for Billy specifically I think it would have made it easier to accept his gender identity. It would have be harder for him to deal with transness now that its being heavily politicized and targeted in the same way gayness was in the 90s.
He's very binary though so to him at the time he was just transitioning to something "normal" (this is his narrow way of thinking about gender, no ones gender has to be "normal" and genders that aren't binary are also not abnormal). In contrast his sexuality is something that he thinks makes him abnormal or weak, because there were more than enough negative stereotypes about gay men in the culture of the 90s.
Transitioning to male and passing as a man means he can be normal because no one knows him as trans. Being gay is different, you can pass as straight obviously but your relationships would out you.
The other part of his self acceptance is the fact that I decided to make Nancy really supportive. It's a fairly small detail but it's mentioned a few times in Debaser that Nancy has a trans sister, so she grew up seeing someone struggle with her gender and didn't want her son to go through that. As well, because of her sister she had access to knowledge about how to get hormones and DIY hrt even when they didn't always have a good doctor.
Billy is one of those kids who was obviously trans really early, and she was immediately affirming of that so it was easier for him. His sexuality is something that doesn't make itself obvious to him until later in life when he's already been exposed to negative ideas of what men should be and what gay people are like. On some level his rejection of queerness is tied to his gender, like he's already trans so he doesn't want to add queerness to that and make it more complicated.

Hey! You! If you love your fandom and you want it to be fun, healthy, and active then I have two suggestions for you:
1. Focus on the stuff you like, not the stuff you don't like.
It's okay to complain to your friends in private spaces, but putting that kind of stuff in general fandom spaces has the tendency to start drama or discourage people from creating and contributing for fear of judgement. It doesn't make you a bad person, but practically if you want the fandom to grow then encouraging the stuff you like works better.
Have you ever wanted to post something but you didn't because you saw someone else get harassed or made fun of? Thats what I'm talking about. You don't have to like everything, you're allowed to have your own opinions, but public fandom spaces tend to be more fun when you keep those opinions restricted to smaller groups.
If theres content or people you really want to avoid then the block button is your friend, as is the tag and word filtering system. You don't need a moral reason to block someone, you can just not like their energy.
2. Comment, like, give kudos ALWAYS
Even if you didn't love the fan creation you're looking at, if you liked it at all give the creator feedback. Fandom is always better when there are more people making things, and people need encouragement to keep making things. It feels bad to shout into a void or spend hours on something and have no one respond to it.
Think about it like this: everyone starts somewhere. The person writing a flawed fic you kind of enjoyed might write your favourite fic ever in a year, but they need to keep writing in order to improve. We're all growing as creatives, all the time, and you might miss out on some really great fan works if creators give up because they're tired of shouting into the void. Encourage each other, if fandom is a garden then encouragement is fertilizer.
If you have trouble coming up with comments its fine to have ones you reuse! "Love this!" "Delightful!" "Eating this" "feral over this" are all equally good options. Or if theres specific stuff you like then point that out, it feels incredible when people appreciate the little details of something you worked hard on.
The world sucks enough right now, let's not bring that into a space that's supposed to be an outlet and an escape
