Living Differently - Obey Me! Boys and a Disabled MC
So, I wanted to have this written for Disability Pride Month, but it took me a bit longer than expected. I wanted to actually research the disabilities I was writing about in order to make sure I got the details right, and honestly I got a little distracted in the middle.
My bias definitely shows in this piece, both in my favorite character and in my personal experience with disability, so Beel and Belphie's section is longer and a bit more detailed. But I hope I did a decent job at portraying other disabilities.
Content Warning: Visual hallucinations in Mammon's part.
-----
Lucifer:
One would think that, as a school built by the Crown Prince of Hell itself, RAD would have an elevator.
Maybe it was to keep on brand with the whole Gothic castle vibe. Maybe it was designed before the elevator was invented. Maybe demons were just ableist. The ‘why’ didn’t matter so much at the moment.
The human paused as they finally reached a landing, struggling not to pant with exertion. The other students stared at them enough as it was, giving them side eye as they maneuvered out of the way of their crutches with a grace that felt supernaturally unfair.
They were only halfway up the staircase leading to their next class, and the muscles in their legs felt like they had been turned to lava. The weight of the ancient tomes that RAD called textbooks had caused the strap of their backpack to slide down their arm, but the railing on the staircase only came up to their waist, so they couldn’t lean on it to fix their bag. For a moment, the human considered sitting down to get themself reoriented, but the constant flow of students made that impossible, and getting up would be harder than getting down.
Just as they were beginning to weigh the benefits of just army-crawling their way to their next class, a familiar voice called out their name from somewhere behind them.
“Good afternoon,” Lucifer’s deep, velvet voice cut through the crowd, and he greeted them with a soft smile as they looked over their shoulder at him. “Running a bit late?”
“I’m going to have words with whoever made my schedule,” the human grumbled, crutches clacking against the stone floor as they turned around to face the demon. “Strong words. Possibly violent ones.”
Out of the corner of their eye, they noticed one of the demons walking past them making a strange face, like they were slack-jawed. As they got closer, the human could hear them speaking indistinctly in an obvious mockery of the slurring of their own voice. Their face burned just as much as their calf muscles, but they didn’t say anything. Saying something just gave them the audacity to keep going, it was better to just -
Lucifer’s leather-gloved hand came down heavily on the stack of books that the demon was carrying, causing everyone on the stairs to jump. The books thumped to the floor ,scattering around the landing, and Lucifer turned to stare at the demon with a look that could freeze an ocean over.
“You should pick those up,” he said, voice booming over the hush that fell over the crowd. There were a few seconds of stunned silence before the crowd continued on their way, pointedly stepping over the demon who was scrambling to collect their belongings.
Lucifer turned back to the human, smiling pleasantly like nothing had happened.
“Do you mind if I walk with you?” he asked, reaching out to tug the strap of their book bag back up their shoulder. The human grimaced, adjusting their stance.
“I’ll make you late,” they wiggled their forearm, making their left crutch rattle for emphasis.
“Being a little late won’t be the end of the world,” Lucifer motioned towards the remaining stairs. “Let’s move on, shall we?”
Mammon:
Coming to the casino was a bad idea.
They had known coming to the casino was a bad idea, and they told Mammon that. It was too noisy and crowded, and being in a chaotic environment like that just wasn’t what the human thought of as fun.
But Mammon had begged and pleaded with them. “C’mon, I need my lucky charm!” he had grinned at them, showing all fang. “I won’t win big unless I have ya there with me!”
And so here they were. Honestly, they had caved way too easily. Damn Mammon and that winning smile of his.
They stood next to him at the dice table, fidgeting. The lights were way too bright, and the air around them smelled like booze and cigarette smoke. People were clamoring around them at all sides, pushing against them and jamming elbows into their torso to get a better look at what was going on.
The die clattering against the table might as well have been a building toppling over. The cheering of the crowd rang in their ears like an air raid siren. When the human glanced down at their hands, their knuckles were white as they gripped onto the wooden edge of the table.
At first, it just seemed like a shadow at the edge of their vision. In a room this overstimulating, it was hard to tell if it was just a person moving in the crowd or a weird trick of the light. But, when they turned their head to follow the movement at the other end of the table, they saw a small black spider crawl over the lip.
Then, slowly, more joined it. Two, four, ten, coming out from beneath the table. Crawling up the legs, creeping out from behind the dice, a few skittered out from between the dealer’s fingers as he shook the cup. When he released it, dozens of spiders flew out alongside the dice.
The human could feel it. Hundreds of tiny limbs crawling up their arms, tickling their skin unpleasantly. Instinctively, they brushed their hands over their forearms, trying to shake off the feeling, but they were afraid to look. They didn’t know what was worse, if the spiders were actually crawling all over their arms, or if they weren’t.
“...didja see that, human! Look at how - hey, y’alright?”
Mammon’s voice sounded distant, like the human was underwater. Their world had narrowed down to that horde of spiders taking over the table. The crowd of people became nothing more than a watercolor backdrop to the horror movie scene unfolding in front of them.
“Yo, what’s wrong?” Mammon asked, laying a hand on theirs. His touch felt like fire against their skin, and they wanted to recoil, but it was also sort of grounding.
“Do you need to leave?” he leaned in closer so they could hear him, and they managed to nod, although they were too paralyzed to speak. Mammon gently placed a hand on the small of their back and spun them around, using his shoulder to bully his way through the crowd.
They kept their head down, tried to keep moving, but the spiders were now darting between the feet of the crowd. Some of them were bigger, slower moving, picking their way across shoes, but no one seemed to be reacting.
“Just keep going, focus on me,” Mammon was speaking gently to them, and the human did their best to tune in. The exit to the casino never seemed to get any closer, and it felt like they had been walking for hours when finally, the cool night air hit their face and they gasped like someone had doused them in ice water.
“Easy, human, deep breaths, it’s okay,” the demon was just talking now, not saying anything meaningful but giving them something else to focus on. As the din of the casino was shut out by the doors behind them, the spell seemed to be broken and they felt a whole-body shiver wrack them.
“Fuck, I should have listened to you, I’m sorry,” Mammon stepped in front of them, both hands grasping their arms now. “I won’t take you there again, I promise.”
“Never,” they choked out. “Never again.”
Leviathan:
They hadn’t intended to turn this into a movie marathon.
Well, at least the human hadn’t. It wasn’t totally out of the realm of possibility that Levi had planned this all along and just didn’t tell them. But a new Ruri-chan movie had just been released, and Levi had insisted that in order to understand a few plot points, they needed to see the OVA, and in order to understand the OVA, they needed to see the limited series, and of course a video essay didn’t do the show justice, they needed to experience the animation -
The human was glad they had decided to bring popcorn. The repetitive motion of bringing the food to their mouth gave them something to focus on other than the intense brightness and colors of the TV screen. It wasn’t that they didn’t like Ruri-chan, but an extended period of time staring at obnoxiously colored animation hadn’t been doing their brain and eyeballs any favors.
With how dark Levi kept his room lit, and how dark the Devildom was in general, it was hard to tell how much time had passed, but the pressure in their bladder made it clear that they were going on at least six hours, maybe seven. And they had been drinking a lot of soda, since the fizziness felt good.
Levi seemed to be coming out of his Ruri-chan-induced stupor, and was stretching his long arms above his head on the other end of the couch. Now seemed like a good time to take a break.
The human reached over to the arm of their side of the couch, where their tablet had sat untouched for the past however long they had been camped out, so they could let Levi know they needed a bathroom break. They pressed the button to wake up the screen.
Nothing.
The human blinked, pressing the button again. Still nothing but a black screen. Again, again, again, they pressed the button. More aggressively. Nothing happened.
Panic rose in their throat like bile. Without their tablet, they couldn’t speak. A dead tablet was essentially someone duct-taping their mouth shut. With increasing desperation, the mashing of the power button turned into banging the tablet against their knee.
Levi turned to look at them, eyes wide with confusion. “Hey, what are you doing? What’s wrong?”
They couldn’t tell him, had no way of telling him. A low, keening whine ripped its way out of their throat, and the motion of slamming the tablet caused them to rock back and forth.
“What, your tablet died?” Levi asked, leaning over to look at the dark screen. “I’ve got a charger, no need to freak out!”
Easy for him to say, he could still communicate. They let out another whine, louder this time, hands gripping the plastic case of the tablet so hard they were afraid it was going to crack. Between this, the uncomfortable fullness of their bladder and the hours of unending pop music and dramatic transformation sequences, everything felt too much.
They hadn’t even realized that Levi had stood up from his spot on the couch until an open notebook landed on the cushion next to them, followed by a bright pink Ruri-chan pen. When they looked up, Levi was standing in front of them with a usb cord in his hand, looking vaguely uncomfortable.
“Here, we’ll try this,” he said, holding his hand out. “I’ll put the tablet on charge, and you write out what you need, okay? It’s a super good charger, promise, it won’t take long.”
The human sniffled - had they been crying? They hadn’t even noticed. Taking slow, hiccuping breaths, they slowly handed the tablet over to Levi. The demon plugged it into the nearby outlet with a quickness that showed how awkward this whole situation made him feel.
“Okay, now the notebook,” he said, once the little charging icon appeared on the tablet screen. “What do you need? What can I do?”
Their hand was shaking as they swiftly scribbled out the word ‘bathroom.’
When he saw the word, he scrunched up his face for a moment like he wanted to say something before relaxing. “Okay, you know where it is, go ahead.”
They hesitated for a moment before taking the pen up again and writing ‘Sorry.’
“It’s fine, I get it,” Levi nodded. “Go ahead, I’ll be here when you get back.”
Satan:
Satan’s room was tricky to navigate.
The demon wasn’t very neat, even though he insisted that he knew exactly where everything was. Apparently there was some sort of organization to the piles scattered around his living space, but the human, for the life of them, couldn’t figure out what it was.
They spent enough time in the room, however, that they could confidently move through the path that Satan had created with only minor difficulty. It was narrow enough that their cane hit both sides when they moved it in front of them, but repetition had made it familiar enough that it didn’t bother them.
Usually.
The tapping of their white cane was almost rhythmic as it bumped against the piles of books on either side of them, to the point where they almost weren’t paying attention until it smacked into something dead in the middle of the path.
“That’s new,” they muttered. They dragged the cane lightly between the other wall of books and the new obstacle. There was a few feet in between that they could probably fit through if they turned sideways. “Hey, Satan?”
“Hm?” the demon’s voice sounded from a little further in the room, probably close to the back. They heard the sound of a book thumping closed.
“Can you warn me if you’re going to do some redecorating?” the human called back. “I have a mental map and you just spilled ink all over it.”
“Oh, damn,” the chair scraped against the floor as he stood. “Sorry, I was rearranging some old books and never got around to putting them away, I’ve just been stepping around it.”
“It’s fine, just direct me a little bit?” They tapped their cane on the ground. “I’m gonna have to go sideways and I can’t tell how big the pile is.”
“Yeah, of course,” Satan’s palm felt hot as he slipped his hand into theirs. “Okay, go.”
The human tucked their cane under their arm and turned sideways, putting one hand out in front of them to brush along the top of the books. The movement kicked up the smell of dust.
“Few more steps,” Satan muttered, gently tugging their hand. “And clear.”
“Thanks,” they brushed their hand against the bottom of their shirt before taking proper hold of the cane again.
“Sorry again,” Satan sighed. “I wasn’t thinking, I’ll pick it up later.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” the human replied, curling their fingers between Satan’s when he moved to pull away. “I’m adaptable.”
The demon hummed softly. “Alright. I got that new book I was telling you about. They should be releasing the audiobook soon if you want to read it.”
“Ooh, the one with the twins who switch places to murder? I’m so down.”
Asmodeus:
“Go on, darling, I want to see you try those clothes on!”
Shopping with Asmo was always an experience. The man went through clothing stores like a tornado, and he waited for no one when he was on a mission.
His mission today was the human.
They had barely been in the store ten minutes before Asmo had cornered them in the jewelry section with an armful of fabric, pushing them towards the dressing room.
“That’s definitely your color, I want to see how stunning you look!” Asmo practically sparkled with excitement as he manhandled them past the curtain.
Finally in some relative privacy, they looked down at the frankly intimidating pile of clothes in their arms. Everything from shirts to belts to jewelry to match, clearly Asmo had a vision. As they sorted through the pile, though, something became glaringly obvious.
There were quite a few nice silk button downs in the pile. A beautiful deep purple one, a nice teal, and quite a few shades of pink - Asmo did love to see them in his color. With a dejected sigh, the human glanced between the buttons of the shirts to their arm curled against their chest before poking their head out from behind the curtain.
“Asmo?” they called. The demon looked up from where he was scrolling on his phone.
“Yes, darling? That was quick, how do they look?”
“I can’t…” they sighed. “I can’t put some of these on.”
“Why no - oh, the buttons!” Asmo looked horrified, standing up straighter. “Do you want me to help you? I much prefer undressing you, honestly, but - “
“No, just -” the human shook their head. “I don’t need help getting dressed. Can we just forgo the buttons?”
Asmo’s face flushed pink. “I’m so sorry, darling. Hand them out to me, I’ll find something better. You try the others on, okay?”
After the hand off, the human ducked back into the changing room. There were a few shirts that they could slip over their head easily enough, but pants always gave them trouble, and they didn’t even want to bother with the belt. But overall, the fit was good, and after checking themself in the mirror, they decided they didn’t look half bad. Their sneakers didn’t match with the rest of the outfit, but maybe with a nice pair of dress shoes…
“Darling, let me see!”
Asmo had returned, setting the clothes on the bench next to him and clapping excitedly. “Come on, do a twirl for me!”
They emerged, doing their best impersonation of the sassy pose that Asmo usually did when they went somewhere that had press.
“You know, darling,” the demon purred, eyes going dark as they raked over the human’s form. “I know you said you didn’t need help dressing, but my offer also stands for undressing.”
“Asmo, we’re in public!”
Beelzebub and Belphegor:
The room was dark when they woke up.
It was hard to tell what time it was even during the day, but the human was pretty sure it was the middle of the night. Which was strange, considering they had at least three more hours before they had to start getting ready, and they typically slept through the night without problem.
It wasn't until they reached for their phone to check the time that they realized what had woken them up.
Their phone was beeping consistently, and the screen was flashing a bright orange color with a big “68” in the middle.
They cursed under their breath, suddenly aware of how shaky their arms were and how hard their heart was beating. It was hard to think with the constant beeping from their continuous glucose monitor. How did they crash like that? Did they take too much insulin at dinner? Wait, did they even eat dinner?
Maybe they hadn’t. Or at least not enough of it. Lucifer had decided to cook a Devildom specialty that ended up being moderately poisonous to humans, so they ended up just grabbing a pack of snack crackers from the pantry and calling it a night. Clearly, that hadn’t been enough to justify the meal-sized dose of insulin they took.
Grumbling, they shook their arm to try and get rid of the shakes before reaching over to their bedside table and turning on their lamp. This was exactly why they kept candy in their nightstand drawer -
Which was empty.
“Fuck,” they mumbled, reaching further into the drawer to no avail. They hadn’t replaced the stash since the last time this had happened. Nothing else to do, then.
Flinging the covers off made them realize just how sweaty they were. How long had they been low? Didn’t matter, they could check the trends on their app later. Right now, they needed sugar.
The room spun when they stood up, and a wave of nausea hit them as they stumbled. They managed to plant a hand on their nightstand before they fell over, but the urge to puke took a minute to pass.
After a few moments of trying not to empty their stomach onto the carpet, they began stumbling their way over to the door. It felt like an eternity had passed before they got a hold of the doorknob, and they had to wipe their sweaty palm on their pajama shirt before they were able to turn it.
The dim lighting of the hallway was both a blessing and a curse. Their head felt like it was being split open with a jackhammer, so not having bright lights was nice, but with how dizzy they were, it was almost impossible to actually tell where they were going.
“Hm?” A voice called their name from the other end of the hall. “What are you doing up?”
They turned quickly towards the person, and just barely registered the fact that it was Belphie standing at the top of the stairs before they were suddenly staring at the wine-colored carpet that had been beneath their feet a few seconds ago.
“Whoa!” Muted footsteps pounded against the carpet as Belphie ran towards them. “You okay?”
They managed to groan weakly, attempting to push themself up on shaky arms.
“Easy, now.” They could see Belphie’s blue nails wrap around their upper arm as he hefted them up from the floor. Even though he looked lanky, he still had demon strength that meant he could easily hoist a human up with no problem. “What happened?”
At that moment, their CGM decided to helpfully beep again, drawing Belphie’s attention. The demon reached down to where their phone had clattered to the ground when they fell and stared at it like he was trying to solve an ancient puzzle.
“This is your die-beet thingy?” he tilted his head. “Why is it yelling at you?”
“Diabetes, Belphie, you know how to say it,” the human grumbled, managing to pull themself into a sitting position. “My sugar’s low, I was going to go get a snack.”
“Hm,” Belphie mumbled. “Well, considering you just ate floor, I don’t think you should be going down stairs at the moment.”
“You sound so caring,” they shot back. Belphie opened his mouth to make another smart remark when the door near them creaked open.
“Everything okay?” Beel’s voice sounded gravelly, like he had been woken up. “I heard a thump.”
“They fainted - “
“Did not,” the human interrupted.
“Because they’re hungry.”
“Not how that works but sure.”
Beel looked sympathetic. “Sometimes I get so hungry I feel like I’m gonna pass out.” As he woke up more, however, Beel scanned them and noticed how pale and shaky they were. Beads of sweat were still dripping down their forehead. “Do you need sugar?”
“Yeah, I’m at like 68,” they muttered.
“66, according to your phone,” Belphie interjected.
Beel emerged fully from the room, reaching underneath their arms and pulling them into a standing position like they were a ragdoll. “I have some candy in my room, you can eat that.”
“Thanks,” they mumbled, letting Beel put his hand on their lower back to steady them. They were lucky he hadn’t just decided to carry them into the room that was 12 feet away.
“I thought you usually kept emergency snacks in your room,” Belphie asked, following the two of them in. “Like, specifically for this reason.”
“Forgot to replace ‘em,” the human shrugged as Beel sat them down on his bed. He turned to his closet, revealing an upper shelf full of boxes of protein bars and candies. “Damn, maybe I should have a shelf instead.”
“This will last him a few days at best,” Belphie flopped down on his bed, still looking at the bright orange screen on the human’s phone. “How does this thing work anyway?”
“I have a sensor in my arm that continuously tests my blood,” they replied. Beel came back with a fistful of the Devildom version of peanut butter cups, sitting down next to them.
“It’s in your arm?” he asked, looking incredulous.
“It’s gotta get the blood.” the human shrugged, struggling to unwrap the candy with their shaky hands. Beel reached over and gently peeled the paper off, placing it in their palm like he was afraid of breaking them. “The sensor tells me how much sugar is in my blood and yells at me if I need to be worried about it.”
“Pretty handy,” Belphie tossed the phone over next to them.
“You should stay here,” Beel stood up. “In case it doesn’t get better.”
“The candy will kick in in a few minutes, Beel, I’ll be fine,” the human replied.
“Aw, you don’t want to have a sleepover?” Belphie rolled over so he was facing them. “We can all snuggle and tell scary stories.”
He was joking, but he did genuinely seem concerned about them. Beel was actively looking at them with worried puppy dog eyes, and really, they were kind of powerless.
“...I guess it can’t hurt.”

This!! There are so many unexplored relationships outside of the brothers. I love them, I love the dynamics of a variety of brothers in a singular household. But, Diavolo's family intrigues me so much! His mother? What was she like?
Do her portraits still hang in the halls or perhaps all taken down the same night she died? Did Diavolo only get to see his mother's face through history books and learned about her personality in old newspapers? Never getting to know her as person since his father, too aggrieved to even murmur a detail about her, ignores his quiet questions as a child.
Did Barbatos know her well? Did he lose a dear friend that day? I can imagine the two being the closest of friends. The two gossiping over tea about rumors about the demon king. "Oh, everyone is talking about how he's so ruthless but he snores so loudly when he sleeps." "Oh, I know all about that." He must have been so excited when she was expecting. Yes, it would be so much more work for him, but for his closest friends he would give them all of the realms.
How crushed he must have been to see her lifeless. Further worsened when Diavolo's father leaves the baby to cradle the body that slowly becomes cold. Perhaps it is a reason that he became such a fatherly figure towards Diavolo. It would do her right, that her dearest son is cared for and knows he's loved. Even if his actual father won't look him in the eyes. Does Diavolo have his mother's eyes? He wouldn't know.
It's so lame that the only family we get to me is the brothers. So many characters get referenced but they never get to actually DO ANYTHING!!!

SpeciesSwap AU
The amount of shenanigans that could occur if the species of OM were swapped. To note, I don’t mean suddenly all the cast become swapped, I mean if they were originally something else. Now, it isn’t very easy to do this neatly. Since there are three main species, humans, demons, and angels, there are multiple choices. Would demons become angels or humans? Vice versa with angels? And how would this impact roles and the working of the realms?
I was musing about this and came to some fun conclusions. I would love to hear other folk’s thoughts on who would be swapped to what and how that’d change their lives. In this, I’m keeping names consistent throughout. So the Devildom is still called such and I’m not changing character names. But, before I ramble too much in this introduction, here are my thoughts:
Firstly, all demons and angels become humans. The brothers were already angels. And, in general, I feel like the entire cast would be more impacted by becoming humans than swapping between demons and angels. This would mean the brothers, Luke, Simeon, Diavolo, and Barbatos all are humans.
The Brothers
I imagine they all are an adoptive family (I don’t want to figure out who dyed their hair what color and whose wearing eye contacts and genetics in general) underneath a rather distant father figure (aka the “father” referenced in OM).
This father figure isn’t malicious, but the absence is felt by the brothers. Especially Lucifer. (Also I’m not changing their names, I don’t have the creativity for it right now. We’re going to pretend their names are absolutely normal and their father doesn’t have a weird occult thing).
The relationship is felt to be transactional to most of the brothers. They live life as respectable citizens and their father houses them. They don’t see him, he lives elsewhere, but he sends money.
An already strained relationship worsens when their youngest and only sister, Lilith, is taken. The footage from the front door camera shows something that doesn’t look quite human pulling her away as she returns home late from a hangout with friends. Their father simply says it is a shame she was out so late and that the camera must be malfunctioning. He’s contacted the authorities, but there is nothing more to do.
Lucifer, rightly enraged, prepares to leave their childhood home. He does not force his brothers to follow, telling them he can stay if they wish, but he will protect them if they follow him. At the same time he begins contacting someone who has studied the occult, Satan. Lucifer needs an investigation done. He needs answers and Satan finds the situation the most fascinating he has seen.
All the brothers go along with Lucifer, into temporary housing situation and Satan begins to stay longer and longer at the cramped apartment. And just as they settle into an unstable household, a beautifully written letter appears at the door. No return address, no names. Merely a letter inviting them into an exchange program of the highest honor. Somehow it has all their names, even Satan’s. All they need to do is circle “yes” or “no”.
Lucifer circles the “yes” after most of them shrug it off as a scam, how would they even know they circled an answer?
They all suddenly find themselves in what appears like a court room.
Diavolo (and his father) and Barbatos
Unlike the brothers , Diavolo and Barbatos know about Devildom already. Diavolo’s father, the owner of one of the largest bank companies, has connections with the other realms, notably Devildom.
Diavolo’s father went into what most are calling an “early retirement” after his son became old enough to take over his rule, with help from his direct assistant, Barbatos.
Diavolo’s father was greatly impacted by his wife’s death during childbirth and became much more reserved. Many higher ups tried to convince him to “temporarily” give the company over to a board. His father chose not to and gave the company over to his son on his 26th birthday.
Throughout Diavolo’s life, he wouldn’t be taught about the other realms. It isn’t until he becomes head of the company and Barbatos tells him. During his four years of being head of the company Barbatos teaches him a lot on both the other realms (and their customs and rules) alongside the workings of the bank.
Diavolo, and thus Barbatos, are directly invited to the exchange program, so face-to-face by a visitor. Diavolo is horribly dejected when this offer comes, as he doesn’t think he can take it (and he really wants to), he is the head of the bank, he has responsibilities. But, to both his and Barbatos’ surprise, his father steps back in. Announcing a one year return meant to allow his son to “reflect and pursue opportunities for the business”.
Barbatos is happy for the joy it brings Diavolo but also is deeply upset for having to look at the King of the Devildom. He never thought he’d have to directly deal with him again.
Solomon
Solomon is the demon king.
I know I didn’t mention the humans in the beginning and that was purposeful. I wasn’t sure whether or not Solomon and MC should be an angel or demon. I think Solomon’s character leans him towards a demon and it works out quite well.
I imagine Solomon usurped his power and thus is the first of his bloodline in ruling, though there has been no inkling that he plans to have an heir.
Solomon is opening this exchange program for two reasons. Firstly, it makes him look as open and welcoming as possible. If there is something he loves, it is to charm and unsettle. It places him to be the outreaching hand to the other realms. Secondly, he believes there is more power to be found in the human realm. He is inviting angels to not single out inviting humans. He can't look too suspicious.
Solomon mainly appears as his human-looking self, but when transformed I imagine him closer to a biblically accurate angel. Golden rings floating around him, eyes dotting across all his skin, leathery wings that seem to have the cosmos in them.
Solomon does have a pact with Barbatos. Though he is the demon bound, he has managed to modify his sort of contract through some “undesirable events” that happened to Barbatos. He is less so free to do what he wants and more that Barbatos is very restricted in what he can ask him to do.
Solomon’s preying of Barbatos during this vulnerable time has tainted the relationship the two have. Barbatos understands that the demon king merely wishes for more power, he will do good to never forget that again.
MC
Originally, I imagined MC as a demon. Specifically around a nine foot goat demon, the typical big ol’ ram horns and golden split eyes. With their more common/human form being whatever one imagines MC looks like. Their role intending to sort of take the place of Barbatos, in being the direct hand of the demon king.
However, I do also note the severe lack of angels in this swap. Though, I am much too in love with a giant goat demon MC, so they get fallen angel status. Though it is unknown to the majority of the cast what they did to fall (rumors ranging from minor pranks to attempted massacre) they have found themselves bound to Solomon. Though, it is more similar to Lucifer than Barbatos in their deal.
They do very much have their own life outside of the demon king (So more akin to Lucifer) but is bound to be loyal to Solomon. MC wasn’t in a dire situation when he proposed it (as MC does not have a Lilith like Lucifer did) and thus the deal made was much more equal in creation. Mutual seeking of power. MC gets plausibly one of the strongest networks and one of the most powerful demons to share knowledge and Solomon gets to know more about the Celestial Realm and the act of falling.
Simeon and Luke
Simeon’s family is in connection with the brothers’ father. Luke being Simeon’s youngest cousin. Of course Simeon hears what happens about Lilith and sides with the brothers. He subtly gives them some money and recommendations of places to go, he plays a much more minor role in this event.
Though, over time, he finds himself growing more and more distant with his family, moving out himself shortly after the brothers. He avidly visits and brings over his favorite cousin, Luke.
Simeon gets the same odd letter on a random day. He looks it over while he makes lunch for him and Luke. He swears he recognizes the look from something he’s seen in his family’s study.
He laughs lightly to himself as he circles “yes” about to discuss what fantasy world it must be with Luke, a great creativity project. The air is taken out of his lungs as he and Luke are transported to the Devildom.
Solomon did not intend to invite Luke, but the more the merrier, right?
Ages:
I didn’t strictly write out the ages of all the characters, but I had a rough idea of them. Diavolo is 26 when he takes over his father’s banking company and 30 when he arrives at the Devildom for the exchange program. His father was around 25 when he had Diavolo (and lost his wife) and thus when he turns over the company he is 51 and onto 55 when Diavolo leaves for the program.
Barbatos is 40ish when Diavolo takes power and thus near mid-forties when going into the exchange program. I just vibe with the thought that Barbatos is the oldest of the main cast, he feels like he would be. I didn’t want him to be too old since he is an assistant and is moving around a lot, so forties felt like a good age.
The brothers span in the 20s, I feel like the youngest is 23 and the oldest just under 30. I’m not tied to the idea that the brothers’ ages are in line to their ranks, so like Lucifer doesn’t have to be the first born, Mammon doesn’t have to be the second, etc. Some of them feel accurate to have in their typical ranks based on how their characters are written. So, Lucifer I do imagine to be the oldest due to the authority he exudes in this AU, so like 29 or 28 in age. Mammon also feels like an older brother archetype, he often talks about it and pulls attention to it. So likely 27ish. Leviathan, Asmodeus, Satan, Beelzebub, and Belphegor are the ones I don’t feel like are heavily tied to their ages besides being younger than those other two. Belphegor is most described as being the youngest based on his attitude and personality, so he’d be the one who is 23.
Simeon feels like late 20s, like 28. Still quite young, but has had time to feel the events of life. Luke is 12, basically what age he was originally, just a little older.
Other Notes
It was very much a choice to not have Satan in the adoptive family. I just feel like his alienation from his brothers from their time as angels should be mirrored here. Thus, he enters the fray after the initial event occurs, he is an outsider. In this AU he would grow closer to them and join their formed family, however, he will never be able to fully understand the lives they lived prior to the incident.
When writing Diavolo’s section there was so much swapping of power for the company that I thought about scrapping it. But, I’m more writing it off that Diavolo’s father holds a majority ownership of his business (like 85%) so the divided shareholders don’t have significant say in his actions.
I do have some partially formed thoughts behind more of the unnamed characters. I would love to do more with Diavolo’s mother and his father. I also think that the brothers’ father very much knows what took Lilith and knows much more than he has talked about. Simeon’s family is aware of something too.
The thoughts above help tie in why Simeon is also invited. In this I don’t imagine the picking of exchange students was random, it was very much deliberate. This AU does not follow the same story as the original and instead is much more oriented to be a mystery surrounding the disappearance of Lilith and the sudden new realm the cast finds themselves in.
^ This also makes MC no longer a focus point. Instead I imagine the story would swap between point of views of the brothers, and maybe occasionally Diavolo/Barbatos and Simeon/Luke. It would be each of the characters finding out bits and pieces of the mystery and slowly coming together to figure it out.
Solomon is much more of an antagonistic person in this, or at least framed that way. It feels as though this odd demon king is attempting to string these humans into a conclusion.
A minor note, I imagine most of the brothers do feel guilty about Lilith's disappearance. Specifically failing as brothers to protect her. Beelzebub still shoulders the most guilt as he was the only one home at the time of the event. Beel feels like the most unlikely to go into something that isn’t his business, so this does help compel his character to seek something out. In Devildom, he has the most ability to try and fix his mistake. To hunt down what took his sister.

Ohhhh! Thank you for mentioning it!! I completely forgot that at least the oldest three brothers saw war, I'm unsure why I always imagine they didn't see any of the war.
It's relatively simple to modify the timeline to account, it mainly moves up the births of Diavolo and the brothers up. It would simply just remove a couple of ideas, but just character building stuff, so a simple change!
I think I would place them all between the 11th dynasty but before the war began. If Leviathan only led one battle, I would place him pretty shortly before the war ended, but keeping the birth order I've theorized. It feels like Solmare intends that the war was still active in a fairly recent time, so I'm thinking the war conclusion could occur slightly later.
400,000: Demon King and the Eleventh dynasty (unchanged)
72,000: Diavolo is born
Even if I liked the thought that Diavolo was born after the war to think about the Demon King's domestic life only settling after, it also makes since for him to see it. It would give him personal stakes in wanting the war over and wanting what is best for all the people he saw impacted.
65,000: Lucifer is born
57,000: Mammon is born
47,000: Leviathan is born
40,000: Leviathan leads his battle
I think this likely was the last major battle of the war. Due to the Demon King's leaning towards ending the war, I don't imagine it was his troops.
It likely was a last ditch effort of a collection of lords to attempt to make the war seem more favored towards the Devildom and to incite a longer war.
38,000: Asmodeus is born
26,000: Beelzebub and Belphegor are born
20,000: War Ends
I'm placing the war further down to give more room for the brothers. I also am bringing closer the end of the war and humans developing, brings in more reason to end the war.
Anything prior or after can remain unchanged with little impact. I debated having the twins after the war, but with Beelzebub having been a guard I feel like that has more use during a war.
Also, having the war closer to when humans were further developed helps add weight to it. And by that I mean if an angel were to begin visiting humans (Looking at Belphegor) that is a HUGE deal, since you are going into an active warzone. Granted, I don't think the battles were everywhere and perhaps occurred in mainly historic notable spots, but there was a threat of running into troops. Which explains why it is considered such an offense. You are not only going to get yourself killed, but you could endanger other angels.
And for some extra thoughts, this timeline is pretty easy to modify with the amount of "fluff" there is. King Gardonus is the first actually mentioned person in my timeline, so from 4.6 billion years to 7.5 million years is just me making things up. The actual timeline doesn't seem to get complicated until you get in the realm of the brothers and Diavolo's lifetime. Mainly because of the birth order of Solomon and Satan.
I presume Solomon didn't further evolve during his life, so he is heavily limited on the time period he can be born in. He's only like, two time entries from humans having been hunter gatherers.
Alrighty, before I ramble further and make this response much too long, I shall end it here! Have a good day! :]
Obey Me! Headcanon Timeline
This is a skeleton of a headcanon timeline for OM, primarily focused on the Devildom. It will have time listed as "years ago" based on present day. These times will have what event(s) occurred and sometimes extra information for worldbuilding. It is a very lengthy timeline, taking 7 pages in the google doc I made it in (prior to notes or speculations), so I will be putting it under a read more :] As a note prior to reading, I often say "the realms" which is just meant to reference the Devildom and Celestial Realm at the same time. (It doesn't include the human realm since they aren't a huge factor in this timeline)
4.6 billion years ago: Creation, the beginning of the three realms.
4 billion: Beginnings of society and culture in the Devildom and Celestial Realm
3.6 billion: Exploration. The realms begin to explore their realms in more depth and discovery of the "human realm".
3 billion years ago: Demons and angels first interact
Has unsure relations between realms from 3 billion years ago to 20 million years ago. It is never rocky enough to incite war but nothing good enough to establish firm relations.
The gap between this time and the next one is a spot that would be used for development. So development in technology, knowledge of the magics, exploring outer realms (discovery of the underworld?).
65 million: "First" Devildom dynasty
The first thoroughly recorded dynasty of the Devildom. There were kings prior to this time, however documentation is sparse.
Documentation is increase substantially at this point as this is about when a meteor strikes Earth and wipes out the dinosaurs. After seeing that happen the realms found written history keeping suddenly much more important. (I imagine they kept most of their history through oral storytelling prior due to their long lifespans)
The 1st dynasty rules for 23 million years in which it has eight generations from its lineage.
42 million: Second dynasty begins
2nd dynasty begins after the 1st king is killed in a duel.
This way to obtain the crown, a duel, is still technically legal in modern day Devildom. However, it is considered a very old rule and a brash way to gain power.
The 2nd dynasty rules for 13 million years in which it has five generations from its lineage.
29 million: Third dynasty begins
The 3rd king has the most uneasy relation with the Celestial Realm prior to the war.
This king does see the start of the war and he retires after being injured in battle.
The 3rd king then takes a position as an esteemed member of society, who later helps in the creation of the House of Lords once the 4th king becomes an issue.
The 3rd dynasty rules for 10 million years in which it has four generations from its lineage
20 million: War and Hominins
Hominins develop and the realms begin influencing these species
The war between the Devildom and Celestial Realm began shortly after this development. This is because accusatory statements on both sides claiming the other was influencing this peculiar species for their own wants.
19 million: Fourth dynasty begins
The 4th dynasty begins after the 4th king kills the prior one. It is staged like a duel, however it was done in an underhanded manner.
This king is a very cruel individual and incurs the most war crimes known in Devildom's history.
He technically is considered to have the shortest ruling of Devildom, at half a million years and being the only one from his lineage to rule.
18.5 million: Creation of the Lords and Fifth dynasty
Creation of the House of Lords to level power from the king due to the mishandling of the previous king.
Said 4th king is replaced based on agreement of the initial court, the 4th king being publicly executed due to his particularly heinous rule (the only publicly executed king that isn't a duel)
Brings in the 5th dynasty abruptly who only rules for 3.5 million years in which it has 2 generations from its lineage
15 million: Sixth dynasty
The 5th dynasty is ended once the king is killed in battle.
The tradition that kings fight on the battlefield dwindles at this point due to the chaos that it incited once he was killed and had no heir.
The 6th dynasty begins, the "highest" lord taking the king's role. (This conclusion was highly fought over. It was not easy to figure and resulted in a lot of bloodshed within the court)
The 6th dynasty rules for 5 million years in which it has 3 generations from its lineage
10 million: Seventh dynasty
The 7th dynasty begins
The 6th king steps down from the thrown to step back into a lord's role, handing the crown to a close friend (likely in the court).
The war is beginning to become a strain on the realms and this point in time marks about the halfway point of the war
8.5 million: Seventh's descent
7th dynasty transitions from father to son as the father didn't handle the war well
The 7th dynasty rules for 2.5 millions years having two generations from its lineage
7.5 million: Eighth dynasty and King Gardonus
King Gardonus goes into rule after being given the crown by the son of the previous, 7th, king.
The son was unable to take the burden of war for long and faced extreme social pressure to give the crown to someone of the court (Gardonus). The 7th father had confidence to rule due to being close with the previous, 6th, king. The son having even greater arrogance that he could do better than his father, which results in him having what is considered the 2nd shortest ruling of any king at 1 million years.
Gardonus then shortly incites the "Wings of Darmius" policies which applies political pressure on the Celestial Realm. This makes him heavily favored due to his handling of the war, which results in him being a notable historically figure.
During Gardonus' rule, Devildom moved away from its style of dynasty ruling. Instead beginning to favor one generation over multiple, though the term "dynasty" was kept.
This transition stems from the various poor transitions from father to son (specifically during the war) and so it became more favored to rule in one generation. It proved a king could rule longer without 1. being disliked enough to be removed somehow and 2. knowledgeable and experienced enough to not crumble over time and submit to insanity
As well, the court begins to have a power creep during Gardonus' rule, with lords becoming more predatory towards kings and how far they could impact the realm.
The 8th dynasty rules for 4.5 million years and has only one generation.
3 million: Ninth dynasty
The 9th dynasty begins and rules for a little over 2 million years with one generation
988,000: Tenth dynasty and Exhaustion
The 10th dynasty begins
The war is fizzling out. Resources are being overspent in both realms and increasing awareness of impacts on the human realm causes mounting concern. (I headcanon that a majority of the war occurred within the human realm with a handful of notable battles occurring within each other realm)
The 10th king faces the most pressure as he saddles the decision to:
1. Do a final push, plausibly overexerting the realm to try and win. Many lords preferred this option, not wanting to lose wealth nor to appear measly
2. Allow the Celestial Realm to win. Generally not favored, but many citizens were growing tired of war and were beginning to see society going towards a depression. There was a want for an end and other options didn't seem viable.
3. Attempt to find middle ground with the Celestial Real. This option was what most soldiers and citizens wanted. At this point the war is being fought over accusations made around 14 generations ago.
10th dynasty ruled for 588,000 years with just one generation. He chooses to continue the war and is soon after usurped.
400,000: The Eleventh dynasty and Diavolo's Father
Diavolo's father begins to rule after usurping the 10th king in a duel.
The 11th king, Diavolo's father, comes into kingship by placating the war. It is not officially ended as he first enters, but over the course of his reign he does bring it to a mutual end with the Celestial Realm
His actions and beliefs lay the basis for Diavolo's want for further equality between realms, as it was his father who agreed with the Celestial Realm to halt the war to protect the human realm and their own realms.
As a note, the modern day court are around the age of Diavolo's father and many originating in his generation, alongside have many younger heirs.
45,000: War "Over"
The war is officially "over", it truly isn't resolved on either side, but the battling has come to a stop.
38,000: Diavolo is born
I believe Diavolo didn't see the war actively. Mainly because I don't think his father settled before it was resolved to have a kid.
31,000: Lucifer is born (I just think he's younger than Diavolo)
30,000: Mammon is born
27,000: Leviathan is born
25,000: Asmodeus is born
22,000: Beelzebub and Belphegor are born
I place the youngest here as Belphegor is often talked about really liking humans as an angel. By the time humans become hunter gatherers (as mentioned below) he'd be about 10,000 years old, this places him old enough to appreciate human's evolution.
12,000: Human Development
As humans enter the age of hunter gatherers the realms reach a more uneasy peace.
3,400: Diavolo's Rule
The Demon King, Diavolo's father, begins having bouts of comas and so Diavolo takes power while his father is unable to rule.
3,000: Solomon is born
I place him at this mark as he's described to be a few thousand years old and it also lines up with his historic counterpart (Solomon the Wise)
He is also listed as older than Satan, thus the Great Celestial War must occur after his birth. Satan runs into books about the great sorcerer so I imagine he's been alive for a least a few hundred years before Satan's birth.
2,700: The Great Celestial War
The Great Celestial War occurs and the brothers fall
The final day that the Demon King has been awake. Before falling into a (assumed) final bout of sleep, he gives the brothers their ranks
1,200: Luke is born
As mentioned in my previous post about timeline conflicts, I opted to simply remove a detail mentioned. In this timeline, Luke never sees the Demon King (as in Diavolo's father) at a ceremony. I am instead going to interpret the line as he saw Diavolo at a ceremony and was called the Demon King due to him being the one in power, though not technically crowned.
Present Day: The Beginning of OM
Woo! That was an interesting thing to craft! It was fun to cross reference what the cast were doing and seeing what humans were up to. Like, Solomon is born in the bronze age. I also got to add details I thought were interesting or just little easter eggs. Such as documentation increasing because of the meteor or that the "worst king" correlates with the deathly 4.
I have some more tidbits for worldbuilding or my thoughts on the dynasties so I'll put them here!
Diavolo's family is considered the 11th dynasty because there is mentioned only 11 known/mentioned kings, so I built that into the timeline.
Dynasties lasted much longer before humanity was introduced. Due to the very constant changing nature of the human realm, it influences the Devildom (but not the Celestial Realm) to change rulers more avidly. Flexibility is liked, but one needs to be aware of tradition
I also imagine the decreasing ruling time to be directly tied to the ongoing war, the stress caused kings a much higher death rate or instability (either making more choices or breaking down in sanity)

This is just a messy post to inquire about the timeline of Obey Me! I was creating a detailed timeline from 4.6 billion years ago to current day for the universe, mainly focused on the Devildom.
However, the last part is giving me the most grief. Mainly because little tidbits about different characters on the fan wikipedias seem to conflict with one another or imply everything happens in a really short amount of time. I haven't settled on how I want it written, but I want to put these times to see what other people think.
Starting farthest back, Diavolo's rule. In Diavolo's wiki he is said to have begun ruling whilst the brothers were still angels, "Eventually, Diavolo did become the Devildom's de facto ruler. This happened when the brothers were still angels, as Lucifer mentioned in Lesson 44-15 (OM)".
Which is odd, since the father is who gives the brothers ranks? So does he like wake up for five minutes to tell them and then go back to sleep? This is then followed up with "When MC first arrived as a RAD exchange student, Diavolo had been the Devildom's sole acting ruler for at least several hundred years, and mentioned in Lesson 7-10 (OM) that his father has been 'slumbering at the bottom of the Devildom' for at least that long."
Alright. So Diavolo rules before the brothers fall (and thus his father is asleep before they fall) and there are at least several hundred years between MC's arrival and the falling asleep of the Demon King. I am assuming MC's arrival is present day in this timeline (the events after this arrival are after the present day of the timeline I'm making. Basically it is the creation of the realms to the start of OM)
So, Diavolo has to rule before the Great Celestial War. HOWEVER, in Luke's wiki, it says he is at least a thousand years old because "...in Lesson 7-10 (OM) that he had last seen the Demon King at a ceremony over a thousand years ago". Assuming he doesn't mean Diavolo, who is the prince, that means Diavolo's father had to have been awake.
BUT! Capping this timeline, Solomon is described to be a "few thousand years old" in his own wiki. I placed this at a firm 3,000 years old since it matches up with his real life counterpart (Solomon the Wise) at having lived about 3,000 years ago. Solomon, in this same wiki, is said to be older than Satan. This means the Great Celestial War would have to occur after 3,000 years ago but also before 1,100 years ago. As I presume Luke wasn't freshly existent when he saw this ceremony, I imagine Luke is placed at the earliest age of 1,100 (to be slighter older than seeing the ceremony).
On another note, Satan is described as a few thousand years old "...as in the Pop Quiz Let the Games Begin!, Satan commented that he and his brothers had not lied down together in the same room for 'at least a few thousand years.'"
...you see how this is causing me issues? My main issues are:
Luke having seen Diavolo's father before he fell asleep
Solomon is older than Satan who is older than Luke
Diavolo ruled before the brothers fell
Inherently, Diavolo has to rule before Satan is born, as the brothers are still angels. However, Luke has to be younger than Satan who doesn't exist before the Demon King sleeps.
I'm unsure if the whole bit that Diavolo ruled before the brothers fell is a plothole. As I feel like it was more put as the Demon King falls asleep at the point of the brothers falling as he gave them their ranks. This also brings into question Satan's age greatly for me. As it's often just described as he was born after the Great Celestial War. I've always imagined he was born about right after it happened, or at least a very short amount of time afterwards. Like days at maximum. However, it is just mentioned to be when Lucifer tears his wings off, which technically he could have done years after the war. Personally, I think it best fits it happening shortly after, when Lucifer is at his most enraged from this horrible event in his life.
I'm going to continue to mull over this and eventually post a timeline (I'll likely just ignore one of the issues I have or place a headcanon to fix the complication I'm having). Regardless, I've gotten to do a lot of fluffing up in the time period, mainly filling in other dynasties and a skeleton of Devildom's history. I'm excited to share it when I'm done!

Obey Me Timeline Thoughts (AKA “humans are uncanny horrors”)
The timeline for Obey Me is rather up in the air. It seems like one of the only written time events is the Great Celestial War, having occurred about 5,000 years prior to the introduction to MC. Assumingly, present day is considered about our modern day, so sometime from 2010s to 2030s.
The other plausibly timed event is more of a headcanon. It’s accepted that the Devildom and the Celestial Realm came to exist at the same time. I think it is the same for the human realm. I think having those three realms come to be at the same time helps tie together the timelines, especially with how much it seems they connect to one another. (I’m unsure of any other realms/places, such as the underworld which is connected to the Celestial Realm but I’m unsure if it resides elsewhere.) There is a second reason for me to want those realms to be tied. That is, it gives the Devildom and Celestial Realm a beginning time, about 4.6 billion years ago (the current theorized time that the Earth came to be, its date of origin). This thought is vaguely supported by Solomon’s dialogue about a legend in which the three realms shared the Sun and Moon, it implies they existed together a very long time ago.
4.6 billion is not a timeframe to sneeze at, not even for demons or angels. Satan being 5,000 is considered quite young seemingly, though his “age” for a demon seems skewed. This could be caused by not having been born and more…spawned into existence after separating from Lucifer. (Also, slight side ramble. That’s horrifying. If I had the knowledge that if I got so angry that a piece of me would separate and come to be its own person. Especially one that has disdain for me. I would be watching my temper 24/7.)
Luke is the youngest of the cast we’ve seen, even younger than Satan. In a lesson, Luke is implied to be older than a 1,000 years, so that places him between 1,000 and 5,000 years old (as he’s mentioned to be younger than Satan in a RAD newspaper). If we take a high estimate of his age, let’s say 4,000 years, it can be compared to his relative age. Luke is described as appearing 10 years old, he is a child in the relative aging of angels. If we draw a direct linear line to ages (though, I personally think they age in an reverse exponential way. So as they grow older and older, their aging slows) that puts 4,000 years to be about 10 years in human age.
If we put Lucifer’s age at 30 in human years, that’d make him about 12,000 years old. I’m not too sure if that would give him a viable age. But, regardless of the exact age of the brothers, I want to focus on the early development of the realms. I don’t believe the Celestial Realm and Devildom just popped into existence with their castles and hierarchies.  I imagine it took at least a few thousand years to just develop societies. Then even longer to build their cities and further more discover the other realms.
There is a…small snag if we assume the realms all came to exist at once. If it is assumed that demons and angels generally didn’t go through evolution and came to be as they are…humans didn’t do that. Assuming the OM universe doesn’t just write that humans were fully developed at this time and instead follows the evolution of Earth, it’ll be a while til any of those magic beings see humans. Like, a really, really long time.
To put in scale, mammals did not come into evolution until about 220 million years ago. That’s ~4.3 billion years that mammals weren’t a thing, let alone humans.  The evolutionary thought of humans, the Hominidae family, came to be about 20-22 million years ago. So, that alone is another 200ish million years until there is anything with the semblance of humans. (And that’s a stretch, since the first few don’t look too close. Especially in the view of ancient old ass demons and angels)
I’m not going to bother to try and fill that in with lore at this moment. It does give angels and demons plenty of time to develop societies, cultures, and an abundance of time to start numerous millennium long wars. I think they butted heads long before humans came into the picture. It just so happens that humans rekindled ancient disdain and dick measuring contests between the two realms. Granted, I feel like the “human realm” was long contested before humans were ever a thing. But, I imagine not a lot of demons or angels chose to stay in this new realm.
I say this as it brings me to what I mention in the title of this ramble. “Humans are uncanny horrors” and this also extends to their realm. Since demons and angels age significantly slower, I presume their realms do too. Plants and animals have a similarly scaled lifespan to the inhabitants of these realms. The human realm then is scaled to a human’s lifespan, practically a blink of the eye. The best I can think of to bring a vivid enough picture is to imagine a human finding themself in a universe that its age is scaled similar to a housefly. Everything would die before you would ever know it. Everything would have changed and evolved in the time you took a breath. A realm of ever moving death and life, rot and change.
This then pivots to humans themselves. If angels and demons inherently came to exist in the humanoid form we know, what of humans? Humans did not begin the way they are. Angels and demons likely watched these creatures evolve, gain more sapient thought and even their own cultures. But…these ancient beings watch these morphing creatures form into something that looks like them. Start walking like them. Garbled noises that begin to form similarly to their own speech.
Maybe they wrote it off in evolving to what is considered the “best” form. Or mimicking the beings that have been helping these creatures. But, I doubt that the first generation of angels and demons to see humans form had the same thoughts as the current generation does. Watching in real time something gain intelligence and to copy what you look like- uncanny at its best.

How the brothers react to a snide noble
Diavolo was hosting a gala for nobles. The ballroom was rich with conversation and quiet laughs. The brothers were scattered about, chatting or keeping to themselves. All of them were forced to attend for appearances, Leviathan couldn’t get out of this time. As they all bid their time and the night grew darker, they heard a noble murmur to another in passing. The cold voice spoke quietly, “Oh. The prince invited those damned angels. Couldn’t he have an event without them?”
Lucifer
As the Avatar of Pride, he’s internally fuming. He can’t snap back without seeming distasteful so he’s forced to bite his tongue. Lucifer can chide his brothers, but a noble isn’t someone he has the position to ridicule.
He for sure is mentioning this to Diavolo, either shortly after hearing it or after the event ends. In the meantime, he’s watching the noble from across the room.
Lucifer has a deathly cold stare as he watches. He hopes it unnerves them. That it makes them upset and gets them to slip up.
He’s also keeping an eye that the noble stays away from his brothers. When the noble ends up wandering near one of them he smoothly orients himself between them, feigning interest in some decor or starting small talk with whoever is there.
At the end of this, he’s absolutely snitching. He’s not so subtly mentioning this to Diavolo and how it really would impact the transfer program to have such a rude noble. How can the angels feel welcome with that noble parading around?
He is trying to get this noble removed or at least to never have to see their face again.
Mammon
Mammon is whipping around to look at what person has the audacity.
He is the least subtle of all the brothers. His mouth is agape, he looks pissed, he nearly calls them a jackass in reflex.
Mammon would care so much less if the noble had targeted just him. His brothers insult him 24/7, no noble is getting under his skin more than his brothers. But, the noble having the audacity to insult all of his brothers, this older brother ain’t messing with that.
He’s engaging, he strides over to the noble and asks them to repeat themselves. He’s staring them down with a scowl. Lucifer is actively getting a headache at the social atrocity that is about to occur.
Mammon is going off on this noble and how dare they insult his brothers. The brothers are the Avatars of sin, close friends with the prince himself, and also better than whatever back-alley noble they are.
Diavolo and Lucifer do have to intervene and the event is ending early. Mammon notices Lucifer only briefly lectures him, the eldest having the slightest curl of a smile as he does so.
Leviathan
Leviathan already has a low self esteem, these murmurs only fuel his disdain in these normie events. It merely gives him evidence to tell Lucifer or Diavolo why he should just stay home.
He’s grumbling about it and he can’t help but track the noble. He takes in their appearance. He finds anything notable or unique about the noble. Levi might ask some questions to his brothers, his tone laced with disgust. If any of his brothers question him, he’ll wave it off as some…research he needs to do.
Leviathan will find out anything he can on this noble. Any online forum, thread, or post about this noble is mulled over. He’ll know everything this noble has ever thought to mention.
He’s making dozens of burner accounts to sift through every online piece about this noble to dredge it up and try to get them cancelled and hated by anyone who’ll listen.
Though it appears as thoughtless ragebait or pointing fingers, Levi is strategic about it. Just a vaguely questioning tone in a couple of accounts. Prodding at past actions and trying to get other people to "investigate" themselves.
Leviathan isn’t a stranger to spending hours, weeks, months grinding on something to achieve even the smallest feat. He’s more than willing to use that energy and time to ruin someone.
Satan
Satan freezes as he hears the words. He isn’t personally targeted with the statement of “damned angels”, but the point lands regardless. His blood is boiling.
Just like Lucifer, he understands he can’t lash out. It would only prove to make him look like a fool at this prestigious gala. No, his fingers twitch as he takes all his will to not hurl the wine glass in his hand towards their face.
Instead, Satan turns slowly, a cold smile on his face. (Lucifer is watching. Satan can feel his gaze. Waiting for him to take action, to make a mistake.)
His smile is nothing less than malicious as he approaches. He asks them about their position, they must have inherited it, he hasn’t ever heard about them doing anything of worth. Oh, of course they’ve never worked an actual job, right? They might have to bite that bitter tongue of theirs, and that would be a tragedy! And the only people they talk with are other nobles, surely? Who else would want to bother talking with them if it wasn’t for money or status.
Satan isn’t mentioning this to Diavolo or Lucifer, not like he needs to. His snide comments, thinly veiled as small talk, makes a scene. Plausibly ending the gala early. But, that doesn’t stop his fun.
A certain brother of his suggests maybe a little magic. A noble could handle a measly curse. And who’d know they did it? A tongue as sour as theirs must have a few enemies.
Asmodeus
Asmodeus’ eye twitches and he falters in the flirtatious chatter he was having. He takes a breath and continues like nothing happens. He finishes talking with the person shortly after so he can turn to look at who made the comment.
His eyes are cold as he scans them up and down. It’s only a few moments later that he’s back into a new conversation. However, he’s got a new topic in mind.
Asmodeus is pointing out every flaw in the noble to anyone who’ll listen to him (and that’s everyone).
He’s not malicious about it, not outwardly at least. No, no, he sounds much more pitying than upset. How can you have that ugly of an attitude with an outfit that’s already hideous?
It doesn’t matter if the other attendees inherently agree with him. A little charming goes a long way. It doesn’t take long for the ballroom to be filled with murmurs and side glances.
In the next few days, maybe a week or two, Asmodeus is making vaguely directed posts between his normal ones. A random video about outdated outfits, one of his example photos that cross the screen is of the noble, their face partially visible.
He has full intentions of ruining their social life. Might enlist the help of Leviathan, his dearest older brother can get him some old photos, right?
Beelzebub
Beelzebub is the least caring. Not that the words don’t sting or it isn’t upsetting to hear someone insult his brothers. But, he’s on a tighter leash than his brothers.
Beel is aware of how the nobles think of him. Some beastly creature, ravenous and a smear on their pristine lives. They’d have him expelled from the realm the second they get the chance. He doesn’t get the indulgence to bare his teeth against them like some of his brothers.
His stomach twists. Barbatos’ finely crafted pastries turn sour on his tongue. He can’t be reckless. He needs to be there for his brothers. Just in case.
Beel moves on with his night. He continues to linger near the buffet table. Stalking it silently as he avoids the side glances of all the sneering nobles. Draped in ivories and white silks as they barely touch the food.
He doesn’t engage because it would never end well. He likely won’t tell Diavolo or Lucifer, it’d only upset them and cause more issues. Beel understands that this place isn’t meant for him. He’ll bear the brunt of the insults he hears, he wouldn’t want to burden his brothers with such a thing.
And Beelzebub is undeterred in the life he lives. He has a warm home to return to with his brothers at his side, laughing with mirth no bitter words can take away.
He might be damned, but at least he’s loved.
Belphegor
The Avatar of Sloth is likely mistaken to be asleep. Body slumped against the wall with eyes closed. But, he doesn’t miss the mutterings of the noble.
Belphie doesn’t have the energy to go up and engage with such a pathetic noble. If they wanted to whine, let them.
Anytime one of his brothers comes by he’s complaining. He is using that youngest sibling card to sick his brothers on the noble. Specifically, Mammon and Satan. He knows they have the most ability to cause damage towards this noble without it turning out too bad.
If no fights end up occurring, verbal or physical, he does enlist the help of Satan. Belphie just so happens to have a couple of curses in mind. Maybe a cursed porcelain teacup that seals the lips of anyone who drinks from it? Or an ornate ivory handkerchief that causes rashes when touched to bare skin?
He might not have the energy to belittle or fight this noble. But, suggesting ideas or slipping something into their drink or food isn’t something he’s above.
And, as much as he might grumble about it, he does so happen to mention this rude noble particularly loudly when he knows Lucifer is around the corner.

Spy on Them! Job Mechanic
I am very curious about how many people know about the Spy on Them! Job mechanic in the game? It appears in both OM and NB, in which if you pair certain characters at specific locations you get a one-time cut-scene/dialogue between those characters at that place. There might be a minimum intimacy needed on those characters, but I'm unsure if that is an actual requirement.
I only learned about it like a week ago or so when looking at the game job wiki. I don't think you can rewatch them anywhere or have them trigger again. I'm not very sure since there isn't a ton of detail on them. I've only triggered one of them since finding out.
I'll list the combos and locations under the read more for those curious! The wiki does have short summaries and pairings of all them if you'd prefer to look through those. (I linked the wiki pages below as well)

One of these days I'm going to sit down and try(emphasis on try T^T)to make a timeline for the two games but one thing I'm decently sure on is that whatever timeline Nightbringer is set in, it's completely separate from the timeline of the OG.
I know there's a lot of conflicting information just in the OG itself, but what makes me so sure they aren't on the same timeline is that certain events are completely different in the two games. Just because NB is a sequel doesn't mean it happens in the same timeline despite it being advertised as a look into the brothers past. If anything our presence makes it impossible to be a look into the og boys past but I'll ramble about that further on.
Spoilers for the two under read more
So one of the first examples we get really fast in both games is RAD's existence. In the OG we don't ever get its exact creation date(I believe, not done with all the hard chapters), but in Lucifer's OG UR "The Glory Days" we learn that RAD was already well established before the brothers fell. In fact its implied to be part of the reason Lucifer starts to doubt.
Which is why Nightbringer doesn't fit into the OG timeline at all, because we learn in Lesson 1 that RAD is newly built and the Brothers have only just fallen. Not to mention that MC is later forced to join on as a founder of RAD, a concept that was never touched on in the OG.
The Brother's fall is also now set at different points in time in the two games, with the OG implying they fell at least 5,000 years prior to the exchange program(which I have to go search for the source of, since its not in OG chapter 7-12 like I thought <_< ) and NB explicitly stating that the Brothers had fallen only a year prior to MC's arrival.
Another example is mentioned in one of the hard chapters for NB, and directly in the main story in the OG. Which is Levi trying to get the Seraphina figurine from Mammon. In NB MC goes along with Levi the first time he tries to get the figurine, but in the OG Levi goes by himself first(and learns too late that Mammon doesn't like pajamas)this event happens before the exchange program even starts and then Levi ropes the MC into helping him get the figure once he realizes we can just order Mammon if we have a pact(and its also how we learn to make pacts without offering our souls).
Then we have the fact that Nightbringer drastically changes the course of events simply by having MC and Solomon there at all. MC's very presence changes the course of the seven brother's relationship with each other, themselves, and the devildom as a whole. The MC being there and knowing the brothers already means that we are actively shaping who they become based on what we knew of them, but the problem with that is that we then remove the hard work they did either on their own or with each other to become the demons we meet in the future. Which basically means they no longer go through the things that made them who they were, effectively guaranteeing they don't become the demons we meet in the OG.
The OG timeline simply cannot exist in the same timeline as NB because our actions in the past would actively erase the timeline that had us appearing in the devildom to begin with.
The way it effects our pacts is a lot more dubious, but that has more to do with the OG flip flopping on where exactly our magic stems from(my theory on that was to try and make the plot seem more serious but ultimately just ended up annoying due to plot conflict). However, the fact that our pacts are at risk of not existing leans weight to the fact we're in a timeline where we quite simply don't have them.
I used to have a theory that the NB timeline is the one we were in first, before we were forced to go to the past and subsequently ended up with a timeline change, because in that timeline at least there was less of a change of, you know, ending reality. But that theory doesn't work for the reasons listed here, and because Barbatos kinda explicitly stated he just, erased that timeline.
I'm sure there's more, but I'm not done with NB so at some point I'll have a clearer list and for now this is just more of a ramble. That went a little off the rails, sorry about that. I guess I had more thoughts about it than I thought.

1-2, The Seven Brothers
Season One
Lesson One (Eight Chapters)
1-2, The Seven Brothers
MC contacts Mammon, and gets a mixed vibe. If they remark about the uncertainty, Diavolo understands the worry, “Well, if you were suddenly brought to a strange place and then get told that an unfamiliar face will now take care of you, you’d certainly feel anxious.”
If MC instead says Mammon seems reliable, Lucifer scowls, “...You really think so?”
Does confirm that MC didn’t get any heads up and was just pulled suddenly
Brothers are introduced:
Asmodeus, the fifth eldest. Lucifer cuts to the chase and describes bare minimum
Satan, who comments about getting ignored, Lucifer says “That one there is Satan, the fourth eldest of us. At first glance, he may seem like a responsible demon with a good head on his shoulders, but looks can be deceiving.”
When asking about Avatar of Wrath, Satan does further comment when Lucifer sends another jab, “Lucifer enjoys speaking ill of his brothers. He is the Avatar of Pride, after all.”
It seems “Avatar” is a title, as they capitalize “Avatar of Pride”
If MC asks about the Avatar of Lust, Asmo speaks up and mentions his powers, wanting MC to look into his eyes “It’s okay. I won’t hurt you. Come on, don’t be shy…”
Look: Asmo will be pleased and attempt, but then pauses. “...Wait a minute. There’s something about you…hmm…” Satan then speaks, “I should probably warn you, Kachi: you’d best be wary of Asmodeus’ gaze. He can charm and manipulate people and use them to his own advantage. If you’re not careful, he’ll charm you. And once you’re under his spell, he’ll eat you.”
Asmo doesn’t like the comment, but does add, “Hmm…regardless, my power doesn’t seem to work this time for some reason. I wonder why.”
I’ll Pass: Asmo frowns, “What, you mean you don’t want to? Hmph, you’re no fun at all.” Satan gives his warning just as above, but Asmo doesn’t comment about his ability not working (since he didn’t get to try)
Silence: Asmo will comment, “...Hold on a second. That’s weird. Lucifer, are you sure there is a soul inside this body?”
Lucifer replies, “Yes. Assuming Beel hasn’t devoured it already, that is.”
Beel (not introduced yet) replies, “Nope, I haven’t eaten any souls…yet.” And then Satan’s warning comes in. It’s only a while after that Beel is fully introduced.
Beelzebub, Lucifer begins “Now, the one there with the very grumpy look on his face is Beelzebub. He’s the six oldest.” Beel merely responds with “Lucifer, I’m hungry,” followed by Lucifer, “That’s too bad. Now behave yourself.”
Beelzebub then introduces himself, “I’m Beelzebub, the Avatar of Gluttony.”
Lucifer says Mammon will be there soon and all the other brothers will be met in due time. Diavolo comes back in saying “During your stay in the Devildom, the seven brothers will lend you their strength. To keep you safe, you are to stay with them at the House of Lamentation.”
When MC brings up safety, Lucifer chimes in, “Most agree with Diavolo, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t vulgar demons out there who wouldn’t harm you. If anything were to happen to you, it would be our responsibility. And I won’t betray Diavolo’s expectations. So, I will do everything in my power to make sure you survive your stay down here in the Devildom.”
So Diavolo seems to be in a politically alright spot if “most” demons are agreeing to the exchange
If MC brings up the House of Lamentation, Lucifer comments that it is where he and his brothers live. “It is a rather spacious home, and it was originally a cursed house in the human world. So, I assume it won’t be a problem for you–a human–to live there.”
Lucifer does say that MC should have means of contact besides living with them and points out that all their contacts are on their phone. Diavolo happily sends them a message
Satan comments, “Isn’t that nice, Kachi. Now you will be friends with the future king of the Devildom!”
^ That’s the end of the chapter, it does give a little context.
Notably, the brothers that are apparent say something. Lucifer, Satan, Asmodeus, and Beelzebub. And it seems like Mammon was supposed to be there.
Lucifer makes sense and so does Mammon, I imagine Lucifer would, lovingly, force Mammon to attend.
But, Mammon has no issue in upsetting his older brother and was likely busy doing whatever
Satan might be there just to spite Lucifer, but also could be there for keeping appearances, I imagine he doesn’t mind stepping away from curses or books to do so
(Note from after writing this, looking at the wiki does mention that Satan is the secretary for the council, so that explains his appearance)
Asmodeus is the one which sort of confuses me, he might be there just to meet the new human
Beel I have no clue why he’s there, he also talks the least, so it’s not like he’s giving any info. My guess is that maybe ALL brothers were supposed to attend, and Beel doesn’t care to upset Lucifer so he doesn’t go.
The brothers that don’t show are Levi and Belphie.
Belphie isn’t there because he’s trapped in the attic at this point under the guise of the exchange program
Levi, being the introvert and shut-in, might have just decided to face Lucifer’s irritation to having to meet some human for no better reason than Lucifer wants him to.
Perhaps he also just wasn’t at RAD? I don’t know if Levi skips avidly or does online stuff.
With this, Barbatos isn’t around. Nor is Solomon or the angels. I imagine they summoned the human and wanted it to be Diavolo (because he’s the ruler) and the brothers (as MC is gonna live with them) And thus didn’t have the others there? Perhaps they were already doing introduction stuff? (I’m more curious about Solomon, who I feel would be very happy to introduce himself. But, he might also be holding his cards.)
It does show that Barbatos is willing to leave Diavolo alone, perhaps only when there doesn’t seem to be a threat? (Like, some measly human isn’t going to be any issue for Diavolo)
Also, the mention about Beel eating the human’s soul, implies that isn’t an action that requires touching them. Since, I assume, Beel wasn’t right next to them.
It also makes it out to be a very casual thing
I think souls are more like an aura thing? Perhaps able to be…like wafted or strung towards them with magic or an innate skill they have (demons or others?)
Based on Beel’s homescreen dialogue, he does say that MC’s soul looks “delicious”, so it has to be something they can see.
But, if they can see it, then Asmo could’ve known but not seeing it? Perhaps it is something they most do consciously, like switching into night vision or something, but soul vision instead.

^This photo has more implications than I thought
If we think it fits into the story, it would be presumed that Diavolo or Lucifer showed this view to MC
Presumingly the big purple castle is Diavolo’s place, so that places RAD across from it
RAD is quite tall and has balconies.
The city layout reminds me of Spain. There is also a lot of glow, and I’m curious if that’s direct magic or some like magical object/artifact.

1-1, Royal Academy of Diavolo
Season One
Lesson One (Eight Chapters)
1-1, Royal Academy of Diavolo
Throws the character right in, they are in what appears like a courtroom with several men looking at them
The man in the seat of the chief judge speaks first, Diavolo, rulers of all demons (and he mentions all in Devildom know of him)
“...someday soon, I will be crowned king of the Devildom.”
The place the MC is in is the Royal Academy of Diavolo (RAD)
The “courtroom” is the assembly hall, “the very heart of RAD. This is where we officers of the student council hold our meetings and conduct business.”
Diavolo is the president of the council
When MC asks why they are there or if they ask when they can go home, Lucifer steps in to explain. He is the vice president of the council.
Diavolo says he is his “most trusted friend”
If MC asks if this is a dream, Diavolo responds, “Hmm…What a very human thing to say. Outstanding. I have a feeling you might be just the sort of person we’re looking for.”
If the MC demands their question to be answered, Lucifer comments “...Interesting. This one is quite different from Solomon.”
Introduces the plot, “Diavolo believes that we demons should start strengthening our relationship with both the human world and the Celestial Realm”
Celestial Realm is uppercase while human world isn’t
First step is the exchange program
The stay period is one year and they are expected to work on tasks received from RAD. At the end, they will write a paper on their experience in Devildom
If MC exclaims about tasks, Lucifer says that they are an exchange student and shouldn’t expect to mess around the whole time. And if MC exclaims about the essay he says, “I am not telling you to write a doctoral thesis. You can take it easy.”
Shows off the D.D.D, very similar to cell phones of the human world, “This will be yours to use for as long as you’re here.”
A comment on the D.D.D, the time is set at 66:66, which resembles military time, but obviously is riffing off of 666
Since time/sun cycle is different in Devildom they have a different time setup?

Lesson Analysis Introduction
As I've mentioned, I am interested in doing an analysis of every lesson in Obey Me! I've already done a couple before I made this blog and I found it a very slow process. I'm sort of hoping that by getting a series started on here it'll motivate me more to continue with it.
For these analysis I'll generally be keeping it surface level. I'm trying to keep my theorizing and thoughts to the end. This lets the bulk of the post be a direct outline of the lesson with some funky formatting. It'll be a lot of loose strings of ideas and theories. With theorizing in mind, I’m going to try and approach the lessons without future knowledge, so as to not distract myself too much. With the outline I do want to include any new photos, such as environments or locations, that are in the lesson.
I'll be using the tag "obey me lesson analysis" for this series. I also won't be tagging "obey me nightbringer" as this, currently, only focuses on the first game. If there is something I wish to theorize in general I'll tag both of them in a separate post.
As a final note, I probably won't polish/review these much. I sort of just scrawl down the details while running through the lesson over and over and then make it more ordered afterwards while I'm theorizing.
