How did you get to be so good at tarot? I practise very hard but I'm still extremely mediocre at it. One day it's my dream to do paid tarot readings as a job. How can I get better? Sorry that this is sort of a vague ask~
That’s definitely not a vague ask! But I was almost done answering this and something quit my browser before I hit publish, so this might be brief.
Get the right deck - or at least one that fits you. I always see tarot as a visually oriented divination system, so it’s important to have a deck that you respond to, visually. Also, I don’t think it’s good for beginners to start off with decks that don’t illustrate the pip images (i.e. the 10 of Swords is just 10 swords). And keep in mind you don’t have to STAY with this deck forever, but you do want to start off with something that you can look at and say ‘this person is doing this thing, so I think it’s saying this is happening in this situation’, etc.
Create your own meanings for the cards, and be prepared to constantly update them. Stressing about memorizing definitions is kind of a waste of time. I mean, they can be helpful to get started - but each deck is going to depict each card a little differently than the next deck, so, for me, what helped was allowing my intuition to come through based on the imagery. That way I’m not making 1 set of definitions apply to a different deck of cards, in which case they might not fit perfectly.
Practice, practice, practice. In the early days, I always carried a deck of cards around with me, and I’d shuffle and then lay out a few cards at random intervals and occasions. It wasn’t that I was asking for advice or guidance, but instead, it was more like I was asking the cards to show me how THEY would describe what was going on. (Same as this tip.) This helped me make immediate connections between the cards and what was happening.
Be willing to say whatever you think - and be willing to be wrong. It might look on the outside like I’m a ‘perfect’ reader, or that I rarely, if ever, make mistakes, etc. In reality, I’ve gotten loads of card interpretations wrong. Probably not so much lately as I did when I was first starting out, but yes, I’ve made mistakes. Honestly, the BIGGEST mistake you can make when reading tarot is being too scared to say what you think the cards mean, because you might be wrong. That makes you not want to try at all - and you don’t get any better if you don’t try. I did not immediately know everything I was doing when I started, so just keep in mind, we all have to start somewhere.
Last, but probably most significant, would be engage your natural abilities, interests and talents. Do you like music? Do the cards remind you of a song? Use that in your reading, or take some time to pair a song with every reading so you never pull a blank. Or, you might be someone who gives really good relationship advice - try experimenting with readings that focus on relationships. For me, I had known I was a good writer, so I did all of my readings online (via typing) for a good while, as I was getting the hang of it. Almost immediately my interest in energy work became relevant to a lot of readings I was doing - I could see the energy working in someone’s life before I could understand what I was doing. And now I’ve been doing it for so long, I literally can’t do a reading without it. But.. thats exactly what most people need.
I hope these tips help!

I'm just a hippie cowgirl from the land of Tejas--I'm discovering what this means to me. 1) That I don't do corporate america very well, not even the non-profit industrial complex, nope not here for that bs status and celebrity really doesn't impress me much 2) I care a whole lot about people and want them to be okay but I don't give two fucks about what people think about me. 3) I curse like a sailor, and that's just how it is.

Moon Salutation. Perfect for the full moon. Can I also just say how happy I am that my period is now synced up with the full moon? Ultimate Alpha Flow. Releasing everything each month, very ritualistic.

Goal, within five years I want to be able to do the Crow pose, a headstand, and a side plank with ease. I want to have almost full control over all of the muscles in my body. Starting from the beginning.

Kickstarter: The Angelica Doll: A Natural Hair Doll For Young Girls
BOOST AND SUPPORT!!
(”Sophia wanted long straight hair, and she even started expressing a strong dislike for her facial features and skin tone.” Don’t tell me representation, dolls, toys don’t matter to children. Think internalized racism and self hatred happen by accident? It’s rampant among the Black community and Black girls are especially targeted).

To the Anon
To the anon who wrote to me--so bravely in anon. All I have to say is, if you have nothing better to do than send me messages like that--I wonder how you sleep at night--but then again, I don’t care. Good luck to you.
