The number of viewers has been going DOWN during this “Summer of Steven” event, and that stinks! Yes, I know a lot of people saw the leaked episodes, and all that. I don’t blame y’all. But please, PLEASE, make sure to watch the show when it airs on TV! The Crewniverse needs the numbers, because that’s all that Cartoon Network cares about (well, that and merchandise sales). My professor talked about how women aren’t used to asking for things in the work place, such as raises, because we’re conditioned to downplay our achievements and hold off on asserting our value. She discussed how, even now at this stage in her career (a published doctrate), she shakes when she askes to be considered for a raise and about the first time she was really successful at getting one. After class I asked her what she asked her boss and she winked at me, took me to her office, and asked me to take notes.

She said she practiced this technique like 5 times in her office before she requested a meeting with her boss. I’m gonna share it with you guys because I really loved it.

You start off by thanking your employer for their support (whatever that means in the context of your work environment). You then say that you would like to take some time to discuss next year’s salary. You say, allow me to refresh your memory regarding some of my accomplishments or contributions from the past year, and you present a written summary of all that you’ve done. You close by saying, I hope that next year’s salary reflects this list of contributions and you thank them for their time and see yourself out.

I just loved how she made it seem so much less daunting of a task. She said not to underestimate your achievements as women have a tendency underreporting what they’ve done.

The fact that she shared this with me really meant a lot as well as women really need to be there to empower each other and help guide each other towards success. So if you end up using this, let me know! I want to see how it works for you ^_^.

I’m a Veteran I did 4 years active duty in the US Army. Until very VERY recently, recruiters actually had an official quota they were supposed to meet of potential recruits and a ratio of potential contacts to actual recruits signed up. In addition to that when the recruiting command really needs numbers recruiters get bonuses for filling herd to place slots. A lot of the commanders still enforce this unofficially. In the early 2000s it was BAD, I have known more than a few recruiters who told me stories of basically being forced to work 18 hour days in order to get their numbers in. Heck in 2014 I knew a current recruiter who she said she had the same workload as before they changed the rules to disallow that sort of thing and she had to work in her office with the lights off so they wouldn’t find out how many hours they were working.

Plus recruiters are allowed and encouraged to lie to potential recruits, anything to get you to sign that dotted line (well its an electronic thumbprint but you get the point.) This is why I tell everyone who is interested in joining to bring a veteran of that particular service to go with them to the recruiters office if they are interested in joining. The military literally saved my life, I would not be here today without it, but its not for everyone and the recruiters can and will lie to you.

I don’t even understand why someone would point out the racial differences of one of his children though. One of the (very few) things I really admire about mormon culture is they don’t see adoption as an alternative to traditional pregnancy for sterile couples they see it as something that anyone who has the resources and the desire for more kids should do. Mainly its in the desire to widen the gene pool (most mormons only marry other mormons) and to convert more people, and also lest I forget Mormons adhere to the Quiverfull ideology about having more kids. But Where I live (Southern Utah) nearly every familly who has the resources to adopt has at least one adopted child, which I think is great

They have directions on them but its in really tiny print and its crazy hard to read in a situation where someone is dying so do someone a favor and learn to use one

1. Fist: Make a fist around the epi-pen, don’t place your thumb/fingers over either end

2. Flick the blue cap off

3. Fire. Press down into the outer thigh (the big muscle in there), hold for 10 seconds before removing (the orange cap will cover the needle). Bare skin is best but the epi-pen will go through clothing. Avoid pockets and seams. 

- Ring an ambulance even if everything seems to be fine!

I honestly see it this way when I am writing, and at least one of my main characters in each story are me in the other dimensions, connected enough to see in each others minds, its usually the narrator. 

If there truly are infinite universes, then whenever you imagine something you are looking into a different dimension.

I also am strictly no shoes on in the house white person but that’s because of feet health more than caring about how clean the carpet is. Feet that are confined in shoes all day have a much higher risk for fungus and other nasties that love warm dark and damp environments, by keeping my feet in the air I limit that. I also attempt to alternate out my shoes by day so they have a significant dry time in between wearings. Mostly this is from my time in the military though as taking proper care of ones feet is a huge deal. So yeah seriously people take off your shoes when you aren’t walking somewhere that you need them for safety/aesthetic reasons or at the very least wear sandals.
