I keep most of the things I find since I like to keep them as a collection and I have plans to photograph different arrangements of objects in the future… but I’ve given my partner a few rings that I’ve found after I photographed ‘em! They wear the rings regularly and it makes me happy :^)
sorry, this probably has been asked before but tips on finding cool stuff on floor?
In general, I take daily walks around my neighborhood, and I’m just always scanning the ground or taking my time to look closely. Once in a while I’ll find something in the middle of the sidewalk, but the main place I find things on the street are on the “outskirts” of things: under benches, along the edge of grass, in the gutter, in tree planters, in the corners of stairs. I keep an eye out for interesting shapes, colors, and shine that might indicate a cool object!
Checking out high traffic places like parks, beaches, areas where a lot of people sit or walk around is a good call. One of my main sources of finds is a walking/bike path that’s alongside a major road in my neighborhood.
my lovely mutual @collection-bundle has definitely answered similar questions if you’re looking for other perspectives!
hii i love your trinkets! can i ask how you clean the stuff you find?
hi anon! i assume this was meant for my side blog @shiny-eyed-corvid which i just realized didn’t have asks enabled oop the ask box should be open now!
but to answer your q: I usually soak the items in warm soapy water. Then I put on work gloves and scrub each item with an old toothbrush before rinsing in clean water. I also have a little pipette to squeeze water into hard to scrub places like inside beads and crevices. I’ll use rubbing alcohol too for objects that need it!
For things that can’t be submerged in water, I wipe with an alcohol wipe. Rusty metal gets an overnight soak in vinegar to remove rust before getting scrubbed and rinsed again. I usually hit the whole batch with a spray of disinfectant too just to be safe!
favorites from this round: baby calico critter, spiky red creature my partner found for me, cat butt pin, fancy hairpin, and an angel/devil hello kitty croc charm ✨🐦⬛

"Not sea glass but fragments of plastic car tail lights, indicators and brake lights, probably washed into storm drains after heavy rain, eventually making their way to the sea."
