OH YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN!! :D

Here is the Little Beeper (Paperclip is her name) at her most little. This is from the very day she came home for the first time. You know what she's napping on here? A standard size pillow. That's the short end of the pillow we see her trying to stretch across here. She was THAT LITTLE. Absolutely tiny.

Here is her now! She is roughly the size of a small regular cat now, and is almost a year old. She is precious and good and I love her.

Big Kitty! (Jabberwock, Jabber for short.) He is... large. He is in fact the largest regular cat I've ever owned or even seen in my entire life. He was found alone on a farm, barely old enough to walk, and rescued by the farmer. We got him once he was old enough to eat solid food, and even at that age he was already the size of an entire cat. Now he's absurdly massive and heavy like bowling ball.

Here's him murdering a large sized mouse toy with his fuzzy little (enormous) paws.

Jabber was VERY confused at first when she'd snuggle up to him, like who the heck are you and what in the world are you doing, but he learned to deal with it haha

Heyyy was thinking about ur doll au and couldn’t help but wonder, has there ever been a case of a doll being brought to life by more than one person? I’m imagining what might happen in a scenario where two siblings both really love the same toy, and both contribute to its care and what they think its personality is and stuff like that. Would the doll then belong to both of them?

Also on a somewhat unrelated note, I remember you mentioning a while ago that you based Sun’s design on a porcelain jester that you own, and was wondering if you would mind posting a picture of it as I’m really curious what it looks like 👀 no pressure tho if you don’t want to

Oooh lore questions!

Yes, multiple people can bring a doll to life. Both of them would have an influence on the doll's appearance/personality, and the doll would consider both to be their person. Or their people, really.

You can even have a situation where a doll brought to life by one person ends up eventually considering multiple people or even large groups to be their people! Think of a doll that an entire family comes to love as part of the family, or a librarian's doll that reads to groups of children! Though these groups wouldn't have influence over the initial personality of the doll due to coming in after they're already alive, they could certainly care for and love the doll. While most dolls have one individual they consider their person, "most" is far from being "all."

Shira, what if Sun and Moon found out that the reader has baby photos, and what if Moon found out that the reader is ticklish? And the most ticklish place is the stomach. ^^)

Baby photos! Sun would probably find them very cute. Moon would laugh haha. Not laughing at you, but more laughing at the very concept of how humans start out as tiny little animals that slowly grow into entire people.

Now, if we could find baby pictures of Sun and Moon (inanimate doll photos), that would be a whole lot of fun.

I'll have to disappoint you on tickling, sorry! Sun and Moon would both respect you enough not to tickle you unless you asked for it, basically. Even a playful "no" or "aww stop!" would get them both to stop immediately.

I suppose if you established that you liked tickling then Moon might occasionally jump out to tickle attack you, but you'd have to make it clear that you liked it.

And soon it seems to me that many of the authors will turn on the protection. At first I didn't believe it, I thought it was a joke, but it turned out that everything was serious.. Shira darling, I hope your work is safe... Warn the little slime about this, please! It will hurt me to realize that you and your works may be stolen some kind of thief.... 😔🥺😔😔😔

I'm aware of the issue, thank you for your concern. It's not a single author stealing works as far as I can tell, but instead AI bots scraping the website.

Some authors are locking their works so only registered users can read. This is a good strategy to stop theft, but I've decided to keep mine readable to everyone. While I don't want my work to be scraped, what I do want more than anything is for everyone to be able to read my works if they wish.

Is anyone else incredibly disappointed with the new Hex DCA merch.

Hex has some of the absolute coolest, most unique fnaf merch out there. Well-constructed and with those fun button eyes! I have so badly been wishing for them to do Sun and Moon plushies.

Except, now that they are...

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Where are the button eyes? Where's that Hex style, the soft little body and heavy rounded limbs? The magnet connections for posability? Sure the eyes can glow with little lights, but like... why?? Not only is it weird they broke from the main unique feature of the Hex plushies, it makes these two very expensive when compared to other plushies in the line. I was so excited for buttons...

These things look almost identical to the ugliest bootlegs out there. Like, anyone who has seen the common bootlegs of Sun and Moon will find these designs incredibly familiar.

First one are Sundrop and Riley from fic "I see you, Sundrop!" written by @shirajellyfish . I saw those pictures on Pinterest and was inspired :D

I read it back in February and still think about them every day (I'm foaming at the mouth). I will draw more fan arts of this fic in the future I just really needed to get these two out of my system.

Second one is my design of a more humanoid Sunny. Once again, I will have more later on. Uncanny valley robots my beloved 💖

ot is I! The random ask person! I have more questions.

1: how much can a person's will affect the doll? I remember that in one of the chapters it is mentioned that while person is caring for the doll before they come to life they choose over and over again what the doll will be how they'll be like etc. Does that mean that someone could have a doll and wish for them to have the strength of 10 men and the doll would? Are there limitations to what the humans can choose?

2: don't seem to be non-aggressive, I mean Moon is the best example. Even after being thrown out he wasn't aggressive till he got sick. Which makes me wonder if they even have the capabilities of being aggressive? Unless a doll is sick can they be angry? If someone was threatening the reader would Sun intervene? Can dolls protect themselves or their person? Or are they too passive.

3: in one of the chapters doll labor laws were mentioned and I'd really like to know about that! Were they taken from kids being put to work in the factories and used as well? Along with that, but other doll history is there? Did they get sent to war? Were they hunted at some points for any reason? I'd love to know any and all history you've come up with :D

Oooh yes I love questions! Lore question time!!

1- What the person believes a doll will be like is a big deciding factor, but they do have to play within the bounds of reality. Believing your doll is strong can result in an unusually strong doll, but they'll never be strong enough to lift cars over their head superhero style. Believing your doll can teleport cannot grant them teleportation abilities. Believing your doll is a doctor that can cure all diseases will neither give them a medical degree nor invent a cure for previously incurable diseases. It can give your doll a passion for medicine though.

(It should also be noted that this is all something that happens in the coming to life process. Believing something about your doll before they're alive will influence what they're like when they come to life, but deciding on something new about them after they're already alive does not change them.

2- Dolls can be angry, but true long term anger directed specifically at their person (not just a disagreement or a frustration) is a big red flag.

Dolls in general have a very hard time being physically violent towards humans. They prefer to take other options when it comes to escaping danger to themselves, if they can. Most will protect their person if need be though, and some more protective dolls will jump to aggression very quickly if they think their person is threatened. Others are more meek and wouldn't act unless it was life or death. How a doll reacts varies greatly based on their personality, but in general they're less prone to aggression than humans- unless they're sick, that is.

Sun would prefer to talk his way out of a dangerous situation, and even in violent attack situation would prefer to defend/escape than to attack back. Moon on the other hand would be more capable of physically fighting off a serious threat, even before he got sick.

Glitch is an example of a doll on the more aggressive side, even though he's well loved and not sick at all. He's very protective of his person, and would have no trouble defending either her or himself if someone tried to hurt either of them. He's even willing to do more minor physical confrontations (like pushing/grabbing) to keep someone he deems a threat away from his person, even if they haven't gone so far as to physically attack.

3- Doll labor laws! Dolls are not made to do labor. They're meant to be friends, to be cared for, to be loved. While they may help out with day to day tasks when they feel like it, forcing them to engage in formal employment goes against their nature.

I imagine that doll labor laws are for everyone's safety. If you force a doll to work against their will, they will very quickly become sick and a serious threat to everyone. They have a MUCH lower tolerance for doing things that are unpleasant/boring than humans do, as well. Thus, basically every country has laws against doll labor.

There are probably a lot of dolls that do make money in less formal ways though. There are certainly dolls that stream video games and make money doing that, or that enjoy making crafts their person then sells. If you had a doll that absolutely loved gardening, then they might happily help out on a for profit farm without any risk of getting sick. This kind of thing would generally be considered illegal, but it wouldn't really be enforced as long as it stayed small time and the doll was happy.

So basically, if you run an etsy shop with the help of your doll then you're probably fine. Theoretically you could get told to stop, but it's unlikely. But if you try to force your doll to do factory work, you will have very big and immediate problems both with the doll and with the law.

Hello agian! ☺️ I have more lore/world building questions.

1: does it have to be human care that gives life to and sustains a doll? Could an animal technically bring a doll to life if they took care of them and love them enough. (Just thinking about those videos where a dog or a cat has a plushie they've had since they were a baby and it got me thinking.)

2: how long have dolls been around? how did people react to people who had dolls in different time periods? (We're people burned at the stake for witchcraft because they had dolls? Were they seen as blessed by the gods?)

3: what count s as a 'doll'? If someone cared about a marble statue enough could it actually come to life? If someone loved a Roomba enough would it suddenly start talking back? What are the criteria that make something eligible to become a 'doll'?

4: I remember in one of the earlier chapters Moon asked the reader if they had the option would they have chosen Sun and Moon from the very beginning. Which mean me think what would happen if Sun and Moon met an alternate version of themselves where they were the reader's dolls, were very obviously well loved and cared for and they found out that the reader had brought them to life and had always been their person.

Lore questions! Lore questions, yaaay!

I'm going with yes, but VERY rarely. I think in terms of what doll creation would look like, how long it would take, what the result would be like, all of that would be very different for animals. But who am I to say that a dog does not love its favorite toy just as wholeheartedly as a human can love?

I think they probably started appearing as soon as humans began creating soft comfort objects. Every culture probably had a different take on them, but I'd say the reaction was generally positive. Probably most often seen as things like guardian spirits, blessings from whatever higher power that culture believed in, things like that. A light in the darkness for those who need it. Many dolls also probably believed they were these things, since if their person believed they were that then they would come to life believing it as well. Though over time people saw it less as a spiritual/magical thing and more as just a fact of how the world works.

Dolls are comfort objects made mostly of soft material that is permeable to air. They can have some hard materials, but mostly soft is a requirement. They also need some basic features and some way to move around once alive. What qualifies can vary from person to person, as person A might see random color splotches in a pattern where person B sees a little rainbow face for example. No to marble statue or roomba unfortunately.

It would certainly be an interesting situation! If Sun and Moon had been brought to life by Reader, they'd look similar but have completely different personalities. Like meeting a long lost twin, maybe. Moon would find it a little upsetting, seeing a version of himself that was never injured. Alternate Sun would be absolutely captivated by our Sun's poppies, and would immediately want flowers for himself as well. It would also be very strange for Reader to see an alternate Reader who did the thing they never could. There would be a lot of sharing of insecurities between both groups, and realizations they might not have come to otherwise.
