I hate that somedays I can eat a pretty normal amount of food and other days I smell something and get super nauseous

Here are some filling foods for when you feel nauseous or not wanting to eat!!!
Eggs
Greek yogurt
Rice
Cottage cheese
Pastas (always a good option)
Chicken (maybe a plain rotisserie if you are needing something not overwhelming)
Potatoes, especially mashed
Soups, the broth helps :))
Overall anything protein-rich will help you feel full quicker. I know on nights when I’m feeling super nauseous but I know if I don’t eat it’ll get worse these foods have saved me lol.

I hate gastroparesis. I never wanted this. I never wanted to be afraid of food. I’m in so much pain constantly. I’m so tired all the time. I’m so hungry but I can’t eat. I have no idea what I’m doing. My medication barely works and I’m still waiting for other treatments.
And I’m supposed to just feel fine while I see other people eat normally around me. I’m having to comfort others over the fact that I’m sick and losing weight as if I’m not suffering myself. I’m scared but I’m having to pretend I’m fine.
I’m so angry that I have this stupid horrible disorder. I’ve grown to hate food. I hate how much thought I have to put into eating meals. I hate that I can’t enjoy the food I did before. I hate how much work making food I can eat it is. I hate that I have to apologize to others for no being able to eat something. I hate it and I’m tired and it’s just getting worse and I don’t want to deal with it anymore.

That chronic illness feeling where you don't want to die soon, but the idea of spending another 60 or so years in this body makes you want to scream.

I saw your tag question about screen readers being able to read alt text - I'm not a screen reader user but I am an amateur webmaster and I've done a lot of research so I can confidently say, yes screen readers can read alt text and in fact that's the *whole point* of alt text. all other uses of it are secondary to making images screen reader accessible
awesome thank you!! i just wanted to make sure because i try to add image descriptions to images, seeing as i talk about accessibility a lot i value accessibility for EVERYONE, and i wasn’t sure if alt text was enough or if i should still add them <3

Cane version (you are here!)
Rollator version
Wheelchair version
Power Chair version
I don’t use crutches, so if crutch users would like one, please give me some suggestions!
[ID: Image of an edited “Why Do We Have Hands” meme. The top says “Why Do We Have Canes?” and just beneath that is a cartoon picture of a cane in black and white. This is followed by the text “There Are Many Reasons:”. Beneath that is a series of pictures in a square formation. The first picture on the top left is of a basic outline of a person with spikey black hair and a spiked collar. The are using a black cane topped with a skull. The caption is “look badass.” The next picture to the right of it is in the same style and depicts a person being hit on the head with a cane. The caption is “HIT the ableist.” The bottom left picture is a cartoon-style hand holding up a cane, and the caption is “shake stick at God.” The final image on the bottom right is a horizontal picture of a cane with a sticker on it that says “TALK SHIT, GET HIT” in a creepy font. To the right of the sticker is another sticker depicting a skull-faced cat. /end ID]

I need you guys to listen so bad, but I’m at least glad people on Twitter are starting to talk about this. The government of Canada is expanding Medically Assisted Death to cull the poor and disabled, and now suicidal and mentally ill (these are usually interchangeable of course here). It is EUGENICS and every single disabled rights organization is against it.
Disability payments are $1,200 a month. The average one bedroom apartment rent in the Greater Toronto Area (greatest pop. area by far here) is $2,000 a month. People with mental illnesses are on months long waitlists to get even a single publicly funded session. Weeks to get privately funded care which costs at least $200 a session. There is no housing here for disabled people. We are in one of the worst housing crises in the world right now.
Doctors are now offering MAiD unprompted to young suicidal people. This woman is 21, a health practitioner literally suggested she kill herself.

This is one of the worst Disability Rights Violations we’ve ever seen in Canada. The government is killing us because it is cheaper than funding healthcare, cheaper than giving people housing and food and basic human rights.
