On the topic of the Red White and Royal Blue movie. If you separate it from the book it was great. Cute funny romantic adorable. Genuine stand alone. In conjunction with the book it’s a bit muddled. They simultaneously included too much from the book(making it feel rushed tryibg to include everything) and not enough (making it feel illegitimate).

Ultimately it felt like the director couldn’t decide how much or what to include from the source material. The big major plot points are there but it’s a skeleton of the book with random organs chosen from it. It takes away a lot of the nuance and cheapens the movie from a Red White and Royal Blue movie to a movie about the prince of England and the first son that happens to have the same name.

Its just enough to connect them. I can still appreciate it. But there were so many key features to the fandom that weren’t included.

If I’m being honest I’m disappointed. The movie didn’t quite live up to the name and is lacking all of the magic that made fans fall in love with it.

Despite this it was a pleasant movie and I appreciate that it can now be apart of the fandom.
